Everyone has a sweet indulgence. Jack just met his… women are the last thing on Jack’s mind. After a quick stop to the new and upcoming cupcake shop to pick up cupcakes for his niece’s birthday party, Jack meets reserved Annie.
While helping him with his order, Annie notices his warm smile, the way he laughs when he gets icing on his fingers and then licks them like a big kid, and the cheesy grin when he realizes he’s been caught, and for a fleeting moment wishes he’d been one of her blind dates.
Jack leaves with the cupcakes but Annie’s twinkling eyes make her hard to forget and for a brief moment he considers taking home something other than cupcakes. Annie watches him go but a little voice deep inside hopes he’ll return and this time for something other than cupcakes.

The best perfect summer, winter, spring and fall romance. No drama or trauma just fairy tale romance.
What a sweet book Sweet Indulgence by Debbie White is! It is a fun book with a lot of well developed characters. Annie and Jack’s story is an easy reading romance with lovable relatives such as Grandma Lilly and Auntie Patty. I would love to have Sweet Indulgence cupcakery in my town! I also loved Annie’s dog, Buffy! Delightful story!
Great read!
This book is a very clean, sweet, realistic of everyday life with realistic characters with realistic problems and moments. I loved this book. It was a nice break from unrealistic and steamier books I usually read. There is no cursing or intense sex scenes making it a calm and easy read.
Great start to the series – I had to buy the following books – an easy read.
In this gentle romance, both Jack and Annie have been hurt. Jack definitely isn’t ready for a new woman in his life and Annie has reached a point of desperation in trying to fend off her well-meaning Grandmother and Aunt wanting to set her up with eligible bachelors. Added to that Annie is concerned about her light-hearted sister who doesn’t see the necessity to take life a bit more seriously. However, when Jack comes into Annie’s bakery to collect cupcakes for his niece’s birthday, his resolutions fly out the door. Jack is a charming hero who woos Annie, gently drawing her in and taking time to understand how she thinks and feels. Annie is really nervous of introducing him to her snobbish Grandmother and Aunt, wary that they will demean his chosen occupation. Jack’s family, on the other hand, is loud and welcoming, breaking down any resistance that Annie may have felt. This story is a well written welcome clean romance about real people in a real world, where family can drive one crazy but where love conquers all. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
The saga of Jack and Annie from the day they meet until their wedding day about a year or so later. Tells of their boring relationships with their families. Near as I can tell, the most they do before the wedding …heck even on their wedding night … is kiss. Lots and lots of deep detail. It was boring.
Sweet book. Liked the story but wanted MORE emotion from characters.
Boring, in a word. They meet, they date, they marry. Oh, they do kiss a few times, and there is an allusion to a night of sex. The characters are uninteresting. The plot is dull. Just not much there. It’s like it was written by a high school student as a project to write a novel. If you like very plain vanilla, you might still be disappointed. Sorry but that’s all there is folks.
I hated it.
I wouldn’t recommend this book. The story was okay, but I didn’t care for the way it is written. I’m not sure how to explain, maybe amateurish.
This was a simple, very easy read of a story. The premise of the story was great, Annie an owner of a cupcake shop who met a man in her store, growth of romance promised. There was great promise with the plot.
I guess what I didn’t like was the lack of development of the characters. The growth of the story. I found myself flipping quickly through the pages thinking that this would be appropriate for a teenager. It was clean, which I do appreciate, but it was the writing style that for me, left me lacking.
So this story which has so much potential, just had me wishing for more.
I did receive this book from the author, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked this book for many reason, one of which, it took place in Charleston. We visited there a couple years ago and fell in love. This book brought back memories for us. The characters were very interesting and so was the plot. It is a light-hearted happy read.
This book was okay. I wanted to like the characters, but I didn’t always think their actions were believable.
Extremely contrived storyline. The main character, Annie, was toooo perfect.
This book was soooooooooooooo boring. I kept waiting for it to get better. And then the little sister shows up and the main character turns into a know-it-all. I didn’t finish it.
Too slow. Immature characters.
Great
What a wonderful beginning to the series. Annie opened her bakery and is doing a brisk business. One day a customer, Jack, walks in to 2 dozen cupcakes for his nieces birthday and magic starts.
Some of the dialogue seemed a bit cheesy. A G-rated romance
