A sexy, small town, second chance romance. Thanks to a drawn-up-while-drinking-moonshine partnership agreement, Madison Allain has to spend thirty days back on the bayou before she can sell her part of the family business. And if the heat and humidity and freaking alligators of Louisiana aren’t enough to agitate the cool and in-control California girl, then Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who … Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who stole her heart twelve years ago, will sure do the trick.
Owen just has to remember three simple-ish rules: Do not fight with her. Do not fight over her. Do not kiss her. He can do this. He’s charming and friendly for a living after all. But this is Maddie. The only woman to ever shake up this laid-back bayou boy.
Besides, she’s not staying. No way. These people and this town make her crazy. She doesn’t want to be crazy. She definitely does not want to own a swamp boat tour company. She just wants to paint. In her quiet, beautiful, alligators-not-allowed, air-conditioned art studio.
As for that hot bayou boy? Well, he’s…amazing. But he belongs here in the South. And she definitely doesn’t. Even if her heart stays behind when she leaves.

This was a fabulous book! Owen came across in the first book of the series as a fun, jokey kind of guy so I didn’t know what to expect out of him. All I can say is wow! He soo exceeded what I thought about him. He was such a great guy and underneath that joking exterior he was a guy that loved his family a lot and did what he could to protect them, all without them realizing it. Maddie was the girl that got away or I should say went away. But now she is back but only for a month and in that month she has to be involved with the business that she is trying to sell her shares in. Maddie didn’t like who she was when she lived in the bayou so she left when she was a teenager and she liked her life in California. The only thing is that that life she was a muted version of herself and she was content. When she was with her family in the bayou she was happy and her personality shined through. Maddie didn’t realize that just because she took things to the extreme when she was home didn’t mean that it wasn’t ok to be herself. Once Owen and Maddie were back together while she was home they realized they still loved each other and they brought out the best in each other. They were a great couple and I loved them together right away. They had immediate sexual chemistry that luckily neither of them denied and boy when they got together they were freaking HOT! And the dirty talk- yes please! They both were dirty talkers and they each realized they only did that with each other, it just felt natural and comfortable.
All I know is that Erin Nicholas makes it extremely hard to have a favorite hero! For as much as I loved Josh I now equally love Owen and I am expecting the same with Sawyer. You just can’t go wrong with an Erin Nicholas book! I would definitely recommend this book.
First of all, I just want to say, I NEED to move to Autre, Louisiana. The boys of the bayou are so Hot! And fun loving! And loyal! And did I say hot? This book centers around Owen. He is so protective of his family and every one in town. His share of the business is small but he is instrumental in the running of the tours. But he also knows how to have a good time and show the customers a good time too.
Maddie is the “silent” partner. She inherited her share from her brother, Tommy, after his death. She’s been in California foe the last decade. She wants out but the agreement between the partners established by their grandfathers states she must work the business for 30 days before she can sell.
Maddie and Owen have history. They were together as teenagers but they made each other crazy. Their relationship is complicated since it seems they are capable of some crazy actions.
I love how the Landrys are over the top. They live hard and love harder. Maddie s family is no different. She tries to escape to the other side of the country but it doesn’t keep Autre or Owen out of her heart.
Owen never forgets Maddie either. And he will do anything to show her where she belongs. It’s those over the top gestures that make me fall in love with these people. Erin Nicholas has a gift for writing small town America and people I would love to meet. I could gush about these characters but I know I can’t.
Sultrier than the weather in July and as sweet and delicious as beignets, this fun read captures all the flavorful charm of New Orleans and adds one heck of a fun second chance romance to it. Maddie and Owen were both such amazing characters. Their attraction was polarizing and their chemistry atomic. This well written book delivers all the feels you could ask for with a strong story line and an excellent cast of characters. I loved it and can’t wait to read more books in this intensely enjoyable series.
Better than the last… each book in this series seems to get better. Erin certainly knows how to reach out and touch emotions and drag you straight into the Bayou with the characters she’s writing.
Owen and Maddie are no exception! When her brothers unexpected death leaves her owning a part of the Boys in Bayou business, she finds herself returning home to the one place she never wanted to be again. Due to a clause in the contract, she finds herself having to return home, for 30 days in order to be able to sell her portion of the business her brother left her. Home to Owen, the one person who brings out the ‘crazy’ in her, the person who makes her do things she doesn’t feel a normal person would do. Her past caused her to leave, to try and prevent something awful happening to the once man she loves and has tried to forget but once she’s back home with her family, she can’t help falling back into the person she used to be. Can she resist Owen for the 30 days it takes to fulfill her end of the agreement before she can sell or will that heart of gold, loyal Cajun bayou boy win her heart back again and will it be enough for her to stay this time?
You’ll fall in love with Owen and Maddie and won’t be able to put this one down until it’s over and then want more! Again another hit for Erin and the Boys of the Bayou and in the wonderful New Orleans series.
What can I say? I love this author and her small town romances!
Sweet Home Louisiana is a combination friends-to-lovers/second chance romance and it has all the feels. Maddie & Owen have enough chemistry to cause spontaneous combustion, even after being apart for 12 years! Circumstances bring them back together and they must try and navigate Owen’s very protective, “if she’s happy, I’m happy” attitude along with Maddie’s “I can’t stay here because this place makes me do crazy things” attitude.
Get ready for an adventure complete with grumpy relatives, alligators named for The Flinstones, stupid pranks by cocky frat boys and more!
I’m impatiently waiting for the rest of the series!
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, but this book is my favorite! I liked learning more about the history with Madison and Owen and watching Madison find her way back to her roots and to Owen. It was very sad to learn about her brother and you definitely find out how his being gone has affected the guys, especially Sawyer. I LOVED our visit back to Autre and getting to see the Landry family and friends was definitely worth the trip. This was a great book, can’t wait to go back!
Youth made them fearless, love gave them power, but life was determined to break their hearts. Can they pick up the pieces and find the courage to start all over again? There’s never a dull moment when Erin Nicholas is running the show. Love may seem a bitter pill to swallow, but it tickles on it’s way down. Sweet Home Louisiana spells TROUBLE with a capital T. Owen and Madison are a force of nature that wreak havoc on everyone around them. Heartache has made Madison a bit more careful when it comes to her heart. Life has taught her that sometimes love is not enough, but maybe Owen has enough recklessness for the both of them.
I love this Boys of the Bayou series, and each book gets better and better. This book had so many good vibes right from the very start and never lost it.
Owen and Maddie’s story was just everything I’d hoped it would be. It was so evident that they belonged together, and the ride they take to get there was delicious, steamy Bayou fun!
This story is sweet and steamy and filled with a side cast of characters who have big personalities that adds so much essence to the story. I just loved this book and I was sorry it ended. However, I strongly suspect (true to Erin Nicholas form) that the next story might be even better!
I couldn’t put this book down. I think it’s one of the best in the series so far. I’m honestly disappointed that I finished the book and can not wait for the next one to come out.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Owen Landry…a hot tour boat driver, southern gentleman, risk-taker, and protector. He has a smile that make your panties wet, a heart that make you never want to leave, and loyalty that goes back generations. He also has an unresolved crush on a certain girl living in California.
Madison Allain was on a mission. She had 30 days back home…I mean…in Autre, Louisiana, to convince the Boys of the Bayou tour company (Sawyer, Owen, and Josh) to let her sell her company shares…shares that were her late brother’s shares, that she was now “stuck” with…to Bennett Baxter, an investor. One problem…whenever Madison…AKA Maddie, is anywhere around Owen Landry, she seems to get a little…ummm….crazy. Maddie and Owen have a little history together…crazy history. This is one of the reasons Maddie was ok living the last 12 years in California being raised by her grandparents, and one of the reasons she just wants to go back. However, when you have the entire extended family involved and seeming to be working against you…
She needed to use these 30 days to show them that she didn’t fit here and that they didn’t want her here.
But there were more of them.
And they had pecan pie.
Maddie is determined to keep herself from falling biting the lure of swoon-worthy Owen…but will this second chance love story become just that…a second chance for Owen and Maddie?
Author Erin Nicholas has written yet another addictive storyline…one of those that grab you deep into your feelings and then stays with you long after the last page has been read. A story that is filled with humor, jealousy, love, heat, emotions, and family. The location of this series, Autre, Louisiana, featuring the Bayou, is so well described that I could vividly picture it while reading. The supportive characters in Sweet Home Louisiana are oh-so-good! I love the camaraderie of the family, and the additional goodness that is brought by the additional characters. Add in gators, Typhoid fever, Bayou Whiskey, whether or not it is sinful to spit jambalaya out…and you have a sweaty-hot 5 star read!
Read this book! Just read it! Because this book, this series is fantastic.
Maddie is ready to leave alligators, her family and all of Louisiana behind in favor of her new, calm, not-crazy life. But first she must make one trip back, for 30 days, to sell her share of the Boys of the Bayou swamp tour company. But once she gets back she has to contend with all her teenage feelings…especially those for her first love, Owen. Owen has a lot of feelings too…especially for a certain girl who disappeared from his life 12 years ago. Now not only is his business being being threatened, but so is his heart.
As Owen and Maddie work together to save Boys of the Bayou sparks fly and craziness abounds.
I absolutely adore this series!!! The Landry family is sweet and hysterical at the same time. Maddie and Owen will set your kindle on fire! I can not wait for more from this family!!
I loved the Boys of the Big Easy series, but I am loving this spin-off series even more. The Landry boys are something else! The characters are larger than life and so much fun.
Maddie moved away from Louisiana years ago and has reinvented herself. The last thing she wants is to slip back into big who she used to be, but she can’t help herself. Watching her come to terms with herself and her family and friends in Autre is just beautiful. I thought she was very brave about facing down her fears and kicking some tail in the process.
I felt like I didn’t really know much about Owen going into this book, so I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. He treats Maddie so well. I loved how he thought about her and understood her. They make a great couple, and they have excellent chemistry.
My favorite part of the book was the humor. The running joke about the shed was so funny. And the little stunts Maddie pulls to keep girls away from Owen. And Kennedy’s reaction to Bennett was priceless. Add in the crazy family members, and there is something funny on nearly every page.
The epilogue sets up Sawyer’s book, and it is absolutely perfect. I am dying to get to that one! Sawyer is my favorite Landry anyway, and the woman he will be paired with is awesome. Can’t wait!
Oh my goodness! Madison and Owen’s book is awesome! My favorite second chance romance of the year. Maddie has to come back to the bayou because of an inheritance but she’s determined that she’s not staying. Will Owen convince her that she truly belongs there with him? You definitely need to read this book! I’m loving the Boys of the Bayou series can’t wait for the next book!!
I read a lot of books, over 300 each year. Some books are just a great way to pass the time. Others are funny or they’re stories that you can relate to. And I love all of those sorts of books just for those reasons. But there are a handful of authors who write books that can really hit all of your feels. They make you feel like you are right there, in the story, and that the characters are people that you know personally. One of those authors is Erin Nicholas. I anxiously await each new book she writes. Her latest book in the Boy’s of the Bayou series, Sweet Home Louisiana, is one of those books.
Owen is one of the part owners of the Boy’s of the Bayou swamp tour company in Autre. The company was started years ago by two friends, who have since passed it down to the younger members of the family. Maddie’s grandfather was one of the original owners. Owen has had feelings for Maddie since they were young teens. He has missed her since she moved to California. But now she’s back to sell her portion of the company that her brother Tommy left her when he died. Owning it is too painful of a reminder of her brother and the rest of her family. The terms of ownership require her to offer her shares first to the others. But she has to spend 30 days at the company before she can sell her shares. But will Maddie be able to handle all the memories in Autre and can Owen contain his feelings for Maddie?
The story is sweet and steamy and filled with a cast of other characters who have big personalities that add to the story. I just loved this book and I was sorry to get to the end but I think that the next story might be even better.
I love this Boys of the Bayou series, and each book gets better! If you have been following the series, you know that they are all still trying to get over the death of Tommy who was Sawyer’s best friend, Maddie’s brother and a partner. Now Maddie owns 35 percent in the business like Sawyer, lives in California and wants to sell her share. I am so glad the guys are making her come and work for 30 days per the contract before she can sell. It was fascinating to hear about Maddie’s and Owen’s history, especially when you think that they were only teenagers! It is so much fun to see their craziness twelve years later. I love how the whole family sticks up for each other no matter what, and also tries to help each other no matter what. It was fun watching Maddie and how she shows her feelings. This is such a good book, that I strongly encourage you to read it. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.
Yowzers! I love this new series by Erin Nicholas. I thought I loved Josh and Tori in book 1, but Maddie and Owen have taken over as my new favorite couple in the Bayou! Owen and Maddie give a new definition to the hot, steamy, south in this second chance romance. I don’t want to say too much but the first time they reconnect in the office of their touring company is HOTTTTTT!! I had to reread it, it was so good. I love how these two are protective of one another and will do anything to show their love for each other. I have fallen in love with the Boys of the Bayou and I can’t wait to read the third story about Owen’s cousin, Sawyer! I hope it is released soon!!

This is such a great book!
I truly enjoyed reading it!
It’s a captivating, fun, steamy
& moving romance.
Owen & Maddie, steal your heart
from the very first pages to the last.
It has the quirky small town charm
& the love of zany family.
Boys of the Bayou Tour’s contract
state, if a partner wants to sell, they spend a month working, together.
So Maddie, is here for the month.
Owen, Sawyer & Josh are hoping
she’ll rethink this. Emotions stir in her, seeing family & friends. But Owen, wow! What he does to her. Maybe Maddie’s
visit to Autre & seeing Owen is what’s she’s needed all along.
Can’t wait for book 3!
I loved everything about this must
read story!!!
Oh my! What a perfect sigh worthy story. I am absolutely in love with Owen and Maddie. Their chemistry is off the charts hot but there are also some amazingly sweet moments between them too. And definitely one moment when I was tearing up and my heart literally skipped a beat when I read what Owen was willing to do to make Maddie happy. He is just amazing. I absolutely loved every minute of this story. A definite must read if you want a loving and fun story that shows you what true love and caring is all about. What a wonderful group of characters. I so want to be a part of this Autre family.
*I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book*
The second in the Boys of the Bayou series does not disappoint. Erin Nicholas has a way of writing scenes and dialogue that paint the most detailed pictures (no pun on Maddie’s talent intended). The Bayou craziness comes through clearly (Maddie’s description of her encounter with TSA had me laugh-crying), but so does the fierceness and love the extended family shares for each other. I appreciate that her heroines don’t get offended and give as good as they get. Now those are strong females! The author also does a great job keeping familiar characters involved but giving the main characters the spotlight. Owen and Maddie’s story is just what you’d hope for it to be. You know they belong together, and the ride they take to get there is plain ol’ steamy Bayou fun. This review was written based on a pre-release digital ARC. Fun! This book just had a good vibe from the start and never lost it. After twelve years, Maddie returns to Autre to satisfy the requirements to sell her share in Boys of the Bayou Boat Tours. Maddie is determined to not get attached to the Bayou or her crazy extended family and return to her orderly life back in San Francisco. Owen had tried to prepare himself for Maddie’s return but seeing her again knocks him for a loop. Owen and Maddie have loved each other for years-the glimpses of the younger years were full of teenage emotions and the front row seat to their grownup love was entertaining and sweet. Friends, family and love bring out just the right amount of crazy!
