A sexy, small town, second chance romance. Thanks to a drawn-up-while-drinking-moonshine partnership agreement, Madison Allain has to spend thirty days back on the bayou before she can sell her part of the family business. And if the heat and humidity and freaking alligators of Louisiana aren’t enough to agitate the cool and in-control California girl, then Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who … Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who stole her heart twelve years ago, will sure do the trick.
Owen just has to remember three simple-ish rules: Do not fight with her. Do not fight over her. Do not kiss her. He can do this. He’s charming and friendly for a living after all. But this is Maddie. The only woman to ever shake up this laid-back bayou boy.
Besides, she’s not staying. No way. These people and this town make her crazy. She doesn’t want to be crazy. She definitely does not want to own a swamp boat tour company. She just wants to paint. In her quiet, beautiful, alligators-not-allowed, air-conditioned art studio.
As for that hot bayou boy? Well, he’s…amazing. But he belongs here in the South. And she definitely doesn’t. Even if her heart stays behind when she leaves.

I love a good book set in the Bayou almost as I love cajun food and hot Alphas men. Is it any wonder that I love Erin Nicholas’ about all three of those things?
Maddie and Owen were young lovers for a hot minute in the past but when Maddie saw the raging cajun in her blood, she got scared and ran for cooler temperatures. Living in California has given her the distance to forget where she came from and the boy she left behind. When her brother passes away and leaves her his share in the Bayou Boys tour company, she’d just as soon sell it off and never think of Autre, Louisiana or the Landry boys again. Sadly for Maddie, she has to spend 30 days working the business before she can sell. Being back in her home town, working alongside the delectable Owen Landry and reconnecting with her roots reignites something she thought she’d buried long ago.
Owen is a super chill Alpha dog who’d rather make you laugh or fix your car than stir up trouble but Maddie has always lit his fire. Trying to control his need for her is a full time job. These two were awesome together. A couple meant to keep you on your toes. He was sweet and patient an Uber sexy; she was anxious and scared and fiesty. I love the Landry boys and their banter always makes me laugh! The only thing better would’ve been eating a Beignet while finishing this one up! Yummy!

Maddie and Owen are amazing together. They fell in love as teenagers and then crazy things happened in Maddie’s family which drove her away from Autre. Now she is back so she can sell her share of Boys of the Bayou but being back puts her right back in Owen’s orbit. Will she be able to steel her heart against him? Or will his charm capture her yet again? Owen is excited and dreading Maddie’s return. He never stopped loving her but when she left, she hurt him. He wants to show her that Autre is her home but when he finds out what California gives her, will he let her go again? The Landry family is so much fun to read, what a great cast of characters that love fiercely and are devoted to caring for their own, no matter what the cost. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Sweet Home Louisiana by Erin Nicholas is the second book in her Boys of the Bayou series. Easy to read, told in dual POV, with everyday normal relatable characters and a wonderful setting in Autre, Louisiana and the Boys of the Bayou tour company.
Coming from an airboating household in Central Florida I completely appreciated the descriptive scenery and the airboat and alligator references. I found it accurate and it made me want to get my guy to fire the boat up and go for a ride.
The emotion runs high between the two main characters, Madison and Owen, and the chemistry does too. Add in a crazy cajun family and this made for a funny, romantic, sexy tale. It was absolutely awesome. It also had wonderful secondary characters that will get you completely invested in the series. This is my first time reading this author but it will NOT be the last. ENJOY!!!
Gahhh Mandy and Owen I am truly not sure where to even begin with these two!
Owen made an appearance in Josh and Tori’s book previously, and I was beyond excited for him to get his HEA, and for Maddy to come back home.
Maddy has been living in California for the past 12 years, and had been part owner of Boys of the Bayou since the tragic passing of her brother, Tommy. She wants out of her partnership in the business, but has to commit to 30 days back in Autre before giving up her share.
The second Owen saw Maddy back on the docks of the bayou, he knew that he was going to struggle giving her up again after 30 days were up.
These two are like fire and gasoline. Both are willing to do whatever it takes to defend and protect the other, consequences be damned. They think that their reactions to one another are fueled without thought or regard to what could happen. That is what I love most about them. They’ve grown up, they both have to realize that they’re not crazy teens anymore, and they can focus their energy into caring for those around them and the business they love so much.
I honestly couldn’t put this book down. Erin Nicholas is a phenomenal author and someone that can bring a story to life with such ease.
I cannot wait for Sawyers story next. My heart has hurt for him for so long now, it’ll take and extremely special woman to help him heal.
Sweet Home Louisiana makes me want to move to the south (if only it wasn’t so bloody hot and didn’t had Thor-sized bugs). Erin Nicholas perfectly embodies the characters in her writing and you can’t help but feel completely immersed in the story, and it’s always over too soon for my liking. Absolutely loved it!
Ahhh I loved EVERYTHING about this book and then some! The banter, the feels, the fact that it was a second chance romance – yes, yes, and more yes please! Adored.
4.5 Stars
Two Landry men down, one more (and a Landry woman) to go and I’m all in for it!! Boys of the Bayou is proving to be another great series from Erin Nicholas and a definite must read!! I mean, only if you like sexy, sweet stories with strong, loyal and all around amazing characters anyways.
Owen and Maddie had amazing chemistry that jumped off the page from the very first chapter. I loved how, even as we learn about their history together, we also get to see them fall in love with each other as adults. We see Maddie’s need to hold herself back start to fade and as she gets back to being who she’s afraid to be all the while clearly understanding WHY she’s afraid. We also get to see Owen as much more than the laidback playboy we met in the first book.
Still, much like in the first book, my favorite part of this series is watching the whole Landry/Allain family dynamic. Who wouldn’t want to live in Autre with these people?!? And the more we get to know them, the harder I fall and the more excited I get for the next books. Sawyer just might be my favorite but I’m keeping a close eye on Kennedy and who I think (know) will be her love interest. It’s going to be great! I can already feel it!!
*I couldn’t bring myself to give this 5 full stars just because I’m a little bothered by one decision that Owen made that seemed contrary to his character and his relationship with his cousins, even though it didn’t end up being an issue. Also because I’m kind of bothered by the way the men are expected to give off a certain vibe in order to keep their business reviews positive, which I’m kind of hoping changes over the course of the series…perhaps with the help of a certain smart businessman?
Adamant about selling her share of the company Maddie returns to the Bayou. Owen knew she was coming, thought he was prepared, but was sadly mistaken. 30 days of working, sweating, and being friendly seems like along time for both of them. How will they survive? Another great read! Thanks Erin!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Erin Nicholas continues to amaze me with the stories she writes. Owen and Maddie are absolutely wonderful together. Owen and Maddie have a past that is explosive, so when Maddie returns to her home town of Autre sparks fly and the chemistry between them is off of the charts hot. Owen is that alpha male that we all love, he is rough and tough and prides himself in taking care of everyone that he considers his. Maddie is a force of nature that has a protect streak of her own and everyone knows it. Owen and Maddie have now become my favorite couple in this series. Sweet Home Lousiana is a fun filled romance that definitely leaves you wanting more from the crazy clan in Autre.
So HOT in the South!! Wow, just wow! I wish that I had a more eloquent way to say this, but, damn, this book it hot! Owen and Maddie are hot. The whole damn town of Autre is hot and I can’t wait to live there!! Erin, you have outdone yourself, again! The Boys of the Bayou series is so much fun to read. This group loves hard and loud and they are not ashamed of it. I love this book!!
LOVE
This is Owen and Madison’s story. This is a second chance romance. Madison returns home as part of an agreement with the tour company she is part of with the Landry boys before any major changes are made. The boys try to remind her what it was like before she left. Owen and Madison had an intense relationship when they were younger. Years later the chemistry is still there. This was an entertaining, funny and steamy listen. The things these two do when they are jealous or when someone messes with them, especially Maddie. I listened to the audio.
I’m loving The Boys of the Bayou series. This is Owen and Maddie’s book. They were sweethearts in love in their teens, she moved to California after her mom died and dad went to jail. Many years later she comes back thinking she’s going to sell her shares of the business but can Owen and the Landry clan change her mind. I’m really excited for Sawyer’s book, can’t wait.
Awesome
I’m at 45% reading, lovin’ it, will it finish all the way, you betcha! Erin doesn’t disappoint.
A fantastic second chance story

Sweet Home Louisiana is book 2 in the Boys of the Bayou by Erin Nicholas and OMG…so love Owen and the gang!!
Maddie and Owen have a past but she left… now she’s back in the bayou to sell her share of the business she inherited when her brother died… so she can get back to her life in California. Can Owen convince her not to sell and realize her life will be so much better in the Bayou and with him?
What happens next will keep you on your toes… steamy second chance romance, laughs, crazy people, and finding where you truly belong!!
I am addicted to The Boys of The Bayou! So much so this girl born and raised and still living smack dab in Dawg country didn’t even bat an eye at a bulldog comment in this one . Seriously though, I can’t get enough of this series. Sweet southern heat and fantastic humor are in abundance on every page. Not gonna lie, it makes for some epic Cajun food cravings though.
Owen and Maddie’s story is a second chance that is loaded down with intense chemistry. The magnetism between these two makes for some serious heat as they try so hard to fight the pull. I still can’t decide what I loved more, the banter between them as they tried to fight their feelings or the sizzling electricity that was there when they couldn’t hold back.
Can not get enough of these larger than life, sweetly sexy, charming and fearlessly loyal Bayou boys! Love the way this beautifully brilliant story teller just pulls you into this circle of amazing people and leaves you excited for more….. Loved it!
Erin Nicholas writes another amazing book!!!
Wonderful add to Boys of the Bayou!!!
Loved Owen & Maddie & allll the characters of Autre. Although I missed an update on Gus but appreciated the add of Fred, Wilma & Betty!
