A sexy, small town, second chance romance. Thanks to a drawn-up-while-drinking-moonshine partnership agreement, Madison Allain has to spend thirty days back on the bayou before she can sell her part of the family business. And if the heat and humidity and freaking alligators of Louisiana aren’t enough to agitate the cool and in-control California girl, then Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who … Owen Landry, the equally hot guy who stole her heart twelve years ago, will sure do the trick.
Owen just has to remember three simple-ish rules: Do not fight with her. Do not fight over her. Do not kiss her. He can do this. He’s charming and friendly for a living after all. But this is Maddie. The only woman to ever shake up this laid-back bayou boy.
Besides, she’s not staying. No way. These people and this town make her crazy. She doesn’t want to be crazy. She definitely does not want to own a swamp boat tour company. She just wants to paint. In her quiet, beautiful, alligators-not-allowed, air-conditioned art studio.
As for that hot bayou boy? Well, he’s…amazing. But he belongs here in the South. And she definitely doesn’t. Even if her heart stays behind when she leaves.

This book was so good! Honestly, this is my second read through, and I’m so glad I read it again! I really disliked Maddy at first, and thought Owen was gross (he’s so promiscuous ). But as I read the story, both their actions became clear and I rooted for them so much!
Erin Nicholas is fantastic at creating characters with flaws, characters I think I’m gonna hate, and turning it around on me. I fall in love with her characters, every time.
4.5 stars. When Maddie wants to see her part of Boys on the Bayou, she has to return home for 30 days before she can sell it. She really doesn’t want to get attracted to the place again, including Owen. This was a great second chance romance. It was sweet and fun with some crazy mixed in.
Maddie and Owen are so crazy for each other you can’t help but love them.
I loved Owen and Maddie! Great second chance romance!!
Maddie and Owen had an insane 6 month relationship 12 years ago when they were 16 and 17. Their relationship involved fire, stolen auto parts, jail, blood and stitches. All of this does not seem strange in small town Autre, Louisiana where Maddie and Owen were raised and where the love stories are always over-the-top crazy. But their teenage relationship ended when Maddie’s mom died, her father went to prison, and she moved to San Francisco to live with her grandparents. Maddie’s brother recently died tragically and left her his 35% share of the Boys of the Bayou Swamp Boat Tour company. Maddie wants to sell her share to a rich investor but first she has to spend 30 days in Autre with Owen, the rest of the Landry family and the crazy she wants no part of. This is where the story begins – the Landrys not wanting Maddie to sell and Maddie wanting to sell. The story is filled with loud, larger than life characters and situations, simmering and overwhelming feelings, steamy scenes, and alligators, all wrapped up in so much love. Maddie and Owen just need to overcome a few obstacles, let go of some old beliefs, and embrace their crazy together in order to get to their HEA. And the ridiculous, joyful, and sweet ride to get there is so much fun. Sprinkled throughout this beautifully paced story of Maddie and Owen’s HEA, there are also a number of secondary characters. Rather than being confusing, overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, these characters are central to the unfurling of Maddie and Owen’s dance of love and passion and to the crazy that is Autre, Louisiana. We learn enough about who the secondary characters are along with just enough of their stories so that they’re fully developed characters in their own right. With Sweet Home Louisiana, Erin Nicholas once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller and the queen at bringing to life imaginary towns full of wonderful characters. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the Landry family.
It was a fantastic book! So far I love both books in this series that I read!
Very good book. Anything in this series is great.
I am loving this series so far. The chemistry here was off the charts! It was also full of banter, fun, and dirty talk! I loved how passionate Owen and Maddie were. Not just with each other, but in everyday life. Because of each other. I will say that I wanted more sex. But never have a read such beautiful, sweet hug scenes.
I quite enjoyed this volume; not as much as the first, but more than I had expected. Can’t wait to read the rest in the series!
This series by Erin Nicholas is cute, witty, and romantic. I would recommend the whole series if you need a feel-good series to read.
Oh. My. Heart. These Louisiana boys are H.O.T.
Head on down to the south where family means EVERYTHING and you’ll have a bit of an understanding of the Landry family. Their life might not be to everyone’s liking, but their heart is in the right place. Family includes those who might not share the same DNA, but are family in everything but. Fighting, disagreeing, with each other…but heaven help the outsider who tries to divide their loyalties. Thus, the drunken business agreement between the Patriarchs of the Landry and Allain families, making certain stipulations required before anyone can sell out.
Maddison Allain is returning to the bayou from California, to do her duty and stay for 30 days so she can sell her portion of the business…to someone other than the Landry brothers!?! What? That can’t happen, and Owen, the man she loved long ago has to try to talk her out of the sale!
Boy howdy…are Maddison and Owen going to be able to work together for 30 days? Sparks fly every time they’re close to each other. Will the Landry boys be able to ‘save’ the business and keep it in the family? So many questions! I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Full of romance, heart, humor and wonderful wacky characters. My new favorite series.
Loved, loved , loved!!!! Can’t wait for Sawyer’s story!!!
I love this series! The culture is so unique and the characters in this story are spot on with the hunky Landry boys and the wonderful small town family and friends. This second chance romance features Owen, the sexy charmer and his high school girlfriend, Madison. Things got crazy with these two until Maddie ran to the other side of the country wanting a different life. No small town for her! Or so she thought until sad circumstances take her home again and in Owen’s world of swamp boats and alligators. He’s never really gotten over her and vice versa but Mads is the last to realize that he’s the one. I love these two and their crazy steamy chemistry. Owen is so sexy and his patience with Maddie is wonderful while she slowly comes around to the realization that she’s exactly where she needs to be. Fabulous storytelling with lots of laughs, a sweet and sexy romance, some drama, and a great feeling of family and friendship. I can’t wait for the next story in this terrific series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
In this day and age, it is amazing … and wonderful … that people will follow rules set in an era past. Thus is the case in Sweet Home Louisiana by Erin Nicholas, an absolutely fun story. Grandfathers put together a pact that turns into a successful business. Oddly, they covered just about all possibilities that could arise. Even how to dissolve the business. And THAT is where the fun lies (tongue in cheek).
Owen Landry was not sure what to expect. One of the offspring from this business union was coming home…as per the contract stipulations… to sell her part of the business. He has given his blood and sweat to make this business a success and the thought of outsiders being involved does not help. Of course that person coming home being his past love does not help either.
Maddie is a California girl now. Sure she was raised as a youngster in the bayou but those days are past. Sadly, her family loss and her desire to release the pain in her heart, will require her to return to Autry La. As much as she feels the need to part ways with her past, certain parts do not go easily.
This is the second book in the series by Erin Nicholas and it builds beautifully on the Landry family values and style. If it weren’t for the business stipulations, this might have been a simple return home, but thanks to the rules, Owen and Maddie are forced to reflect and realize. What a great story with lots of crooks and turns along the way.
Laughter, heat, those awww moments, passion, and surprise are all found in this story. And I could not have been happier to see the ending. Same as I cannot be happier to give this story 5-stars with this review. What a fun ride, and I look forward to the next installment Erin!
Let me start off saying that this is a fabulous feel-good, sexy, funny, good-time story about family and love. This is book 3 in the Boys of the Bayou series and it features Owen and Maddie. I laughed OUT LOUD at some of the shenanigans this group of family and friends gets up to. Owen and Maddie are meant to be. It’s that simple. Chemistry is not the problem…geography is.
I highly recommend this book full of hilariously entertaining characters and a story line that flows like smooth whiskey. There are a couple new characters that are going to fit right in too. Bennett is AWESOME and Juliet had me cracking up! I can’t wait for the next book!
I love this series so much. It’s so fun and the characters are crazy in a good way. I laughed so much while reading this one. I was anticipating this one from the set up from the previous book. I love a good second chance romance. Instantly I could feel the connection between Owen and Madison rekindle. Seeing how Owen shows Madison the things she has missed since being away aren’t really the awful memories she has. The reason she has stayed away hits me in the heart and shows the struggle Madison has dealt with. I love the set up for the next book. I can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to it. If you;re looking for a book you can instantly get lost in that packs the humor, heart, and heat then I highly recommend this one!!
Heartfelt, sexy and down right fun! With the next book in the Boys of the Bayou series, Owen takes center stage as he reunites with Tommy’s sister, his first and only love. She wants to get in and out of town quickly without having to be reminded of the good times from the past … he wants to convince her to come home and live the life she was always destined to have. It doesn’t take anytime for old emotions to flair between them and temptation soon becomes too much to resist … but there are things about California that she can’t find in the bayou. Will he be able to let her walk away again? Great characters, a fun-filled emotional plot and so much more to look forward to in the next book!
Madison Allain would do just about anything not to have to step foot in Autre, Louisiana again. She left that part of herself behind a dozen years ago and she’s happy with her life in California now. She doesn’t want to get drug back into the loud, crazy life of the bayou, but if she wants to sell her part of the business she just inherited, she has to spend a month there first … side by side with her first love!
Owen Landry never moved on from Maddie in any real sense. Yes, he’s a fun loving guy who loves time with the ladies, but he’s never had a relationship that meant anything to him since his spontaneous plans with her fell apart when they were teenagers. He knows it’s going to be hard being around her for these few weeks, but he needs to convince her not to sell a piece of their life’s work to a stranger.
This was such a good read! I have to say that this is my favorite book by this author so far! The writing flowed well from start to finish, and I LOVED Owen and Maddie together. I wasn’t a fan of Maddie’s at first, and I’m still not sure how she thinks what happened with her parents means it will happen to her (hello personal responsibility), but she got better as the book went on. Owen was a great hero, and he helped everyone he cared about. I loved that it wasn’t just Owen protective of Maddie, but Maddie was protective of him as well. I love a strong heroine, and Maddie fit the bill. The ending was great, and I loved meeting the love interests of a few of the other characters. I can’t wait to read Sawyer and Kennedy’s stories!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Oh my!! Owen and Maddie’s second chance love story in Sweet Home Louisiana by Erin Nicholas, book two in her Boys of the Bayou series, was amazing. It grabbed me and didn’t let go from the moment I read page one. Twelve years ago Madison, “Maddy”, Allain left Louisiana to live with her maternal grandparents in San Francisco and where she worked at an art gallery and painted memories of life on the bayou. After the death of her older brother and a partnership agreement drawn up by her grandfather and Leo Landry she has to spend thirty days on the bayou before she can sell her portion of the family business. That’s thirty days!! One month!! In the heat, humidity, bayou, crazy family, and terrifying alligators!! Then there was sharing space with the hot boy who stole her heart before leaving to become a cool and in-control California girl. Owen is handsome, often shirtless, and a favorite of the tourists who take their bayou boat tour; which he is one of the owners. Owen tries his best to remember and keep the three simple promises he made to his cousins, Josh and Sawyer: Do not fight with her. Do not fight ‘over’ her. Do ‘not’ kiss her. He knows he can do this; after all he’s charming and does friendly for a living. But this is Maddie! She’s the only woman he’s ever loved as well as shake up his laid-back world and protective instinct.
I loved these two. Maddie came in, knowing she wasn’t staying and made no bones about pretending otherwise. She likes control in her life and this town and the people make her crazy. Not feel crazy, but act crazy. She does not want to own part of a swamp boat tour company as she wants to paint in a quiet, air-conditioned art studio. Yet, her heart never forgot her hot bayou boy. Owen is willing to give up everything to be with Maddie, even though he belongs in the bayou and heat and humidity and taming the alligators, without telling her he’s done that. Maddie isn’t sure if she can leave Owen without leaving her heart there. She knows the bayou is where he belongs. Maddie and Owen forget about talking and communicating their thoughts before acting. That can keep these two crazy people from having that second chance at a forever love.
Ms. Nicholas wrote a wonderful, humorous, challenging, and sexy story that is not to be missed. This story is filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters. This book contains a cast of characters one would only find in an Erin Nicholas story. I am so glad Maddie and Owen had their second chance at love and a forever together. I highly recommend Sweet Home Louisiana to other reader and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
