I always enjoy this author’s writing style. Somewhat similar to Janith Hooper (both of them write in a mature fashion with rich vocabulary and good pacing), although they write completely different stories and themes. It’s always a pleasure to read. Clean romance at its best!
I really enjoyed this medical romance between a paramedic and a doctor. It is well researched and engaging. Definitely interesting to learn about new things and new cultures in this way, and a clean romance too! Highly recommend this book.
This is the second story I’ve read in the Northern Lights series. I really like Beth Carpenter’s writing style. I love the Alaskan setting and how she makes Alaska so much a part of the story. She really brings to light not only the beauty of Alaska, but also some of the challenges people go through due to its vast size and low population count. I can’t even imagine living in a place that is not connected to the road system!
One of my favorite tropes is second chance at love. Scott and Volta have been separated for 10 years, when they reunite in Alaska through their respective jobs. I thought Volta’s job as a flight-certified emergency medical technician, who’s ready to hop on a plane and fly across the state to help someone in need, at a moments notice, was so interesting. Scott is a doctor who travels the world. His commitment to his job is why he broke up Volta. He is now starting to second guess his decision. I really liked Scott’s growth throughout this story. I just wish it wouldn’t have taken him so long to realize what Volta meant to him. 3.5 stars!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.
I couldn’t put this down. Read it in one day. Second chance at love is always good. Journeying with Scott and Volta through their ups and downs and their past was so interesting.
