A sexy, sweet treasure of a story. I loved every word.
I love everything about this book from the setting in Paris to the “sweet, filthy boy”. It’s steamy and sexy with a touch of humor. Perfect!
Omg i loved this book so much, it’s both Sweet & Filthy 😉 ,it made me laugh so hard and then i had to throw on the air conditioner just to cool off because man are those sex scenes hella steamy or what !
Omg i love Mia and i so don’t blame her for getting wasted and marring Ansel ,i mean i too fell head over heels in love with him 🙂 i mean how could you not ! I loved their first meeting in the hallway ,if i had been Mia i would have passed out ,omg the letter she wrote herself was so funny ,i couldn’t stop laughing also loved all the flirting banter between them , i loved their whole relationship ,i mean they did everything backwards but sometimes doing things the wrong way turns out to be the right thing 🙂
I love this amazing series 🙂
The beginning was good, the ending was good, the middle was repetitive, which made it a little boring.
I’m tempted to describe this book as porn with plot. There was certainly enough thoroughly descriptive sex scenes for it. And it was good sex scenes, too! It would comfortably fit into the erotica category, no doubt about it. As a romance, plot wise, it was kinda meh. Very predictable, and frankly, a bit uninspired. The conflict wasn’t really all that deep or complicated.
But I liked Mia and Ansel as characters, and them together as a couple. At first, I wasn’t sure about Ansel. He seemed a little too intense. He came onto Mia very strongly. Second-hand, I felt kind of awkward, overwhelmed and uncomfortable. Not in a bad way, just in a wow, I’m way in over my head way. He was very forward and incredibly unapologetic about it. But at the same time, he was the farthest thing from the “broody bad boy”, who in literature, tend to be the overly sexed-up types. Instead, he was considerate, cute, earnest and silly. So his uncontrollable libido and frankness left me feeling unstable and off-kilter.
Loved the bits of French sprinkled throughout the story, and thank goodness for Kindles and Google Translate LOL.
I’m excited for Harlow and Finn’s story, since I love a little animosity to rev up the sexual tension.
3.5 stars, if I could.
I wanted to like this more. I thought I was going to like this more. And while it is undeniably, deliciously smutty, I wanted more substance. My attention waned in the middle because it was yet another bedroom escapade and not enough breadcrumbs to keep me emotionally invested. It’s almost like the plot was an excuse to see how many different physical entanglements Ansel and Mia could be put into.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked Ansel and Mia. They were developed and unique and in quiet moments they really shined. And I think Paris was captured well, though some details were a bit off. I loved that it wasn’t automatically translated when Ansel spoke French. I learned some dirty new words and definitely wasn’t cackling about it while reading in a coffee shop…
On the whole, I enjoyed it and I’d be curious to see what happens with Harlow and Lola but I know I’ll have to be in the right mood to pick up their stories.
loved this addition to this series…..they all could be read alone but a little back story here really helps the characters build with some history…..speaking of the characters these authors have the gift of very original and true depth to those they create for each b book…..thank you ladies
Swoon! I love Christina Lauren books. They are a one-click for me. Sweet Filthy Boy is no exception. This is all their other sweet, sexy books, and add in the bonus of a French love affair. Yes, please!
I love this entire series. I only wish there were more books!
SPOILER
Loved that it was love at first sight even though the H/h didn’t recognize it. Most of book is set in Paris which was pictured nicely.
These authors know how to write great books. Enjoyed this one just like the rest I’ve read.
Love this series. Christina Lauren is always a go-to for a guaranteed great read!
The swoon is undeniable! Ansel is delish! Just what I needed.
I love this entire series, and I’ve gotten so many friends to read this book. What starts out like something out of a straight-up comedy, soon turns into a really lovely pairing of two people who really want to get each other. Mia is a complex character, and Ansel is a bit of a bleeding heart who sees her for how special she is.
I finished this book in one sitting. I missed a workout because I didn’t want to step away. I was hooked from pretty much the first page. Clearly this series is going to be a new favorite for me. Here is where I shamefully admit that this is my first Christina Lauren book. Let’s just say the Beautiful Bastard series has been moved to the top of my list….WTF have I been waiting for?
I’ll start with Ansel because, well…Ansel. Brown hair, green eyes, tall, funny, smart, employed….French! Yeah I’ll definitely take one of those please. I instantly fell in love with his playful side and as we get to learn more about him and his life in France I fell in love with his hard-working side. Don’t even get me started on his dirty mouth! He’s the whole package and the way he cared for Mia and just wanted to do what was best for her…saaaawoooooon!! He’s definitely infiltrated my top 10 fave BBF list.
It’s really easy to fall in love with the hero of a romance but Mia is a perfect example of the perfect heroine. She was definitely the star of this story. She’s smart, she’s funny, she’s vulnerable and at time naive. She’s insecure and shy, but she’s strong and vibrant all at the same time. I want to be her friend, I want to be friends with her friends. I want to roam the streets of Paris with her. I want to punch her father square in his face. I want to hug her and tell her to just be herself and do what makes her happy. I want to take her place for just one night with Ansel. I’m kidding…not really.
This story was everything to me. I’m so over the broken H/h and the need to be fixed. I crave more stories such as these where someone just needs to be found, not fixed. This book had it all. I laughed, I cried, I clenched my fist at times; I felt my way through this book, page by page, word by word. I’m still not sure I want to let it go.
I cannot wait for Harlow and Finn’s story.
*I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.
Okay, so this is my second series by Christina Lauren, and once again I’m hooked. Honestly, I’ve never really been interested/attracted to French men, as far as I knew. But Ansel, well, I want my own Ansel. This narrator was good, although she was one of those that did read kind of slow at times. This story had me at only Chapter 4 where I didn’t want to get out of the car and stop listening because it was soooo good! I had an idea what the issue was going to be for the two of them, beyond the whole part that he was going back to France. I knew that the friend Perry would definitely be the issue. Especially the way it was all really generic the way Ansel talked about Perry. But now I want a foreign man who will give me a sweet nickname that is a word in their language. As with the other books in the Beautiful Bastard series, the sex was totally hot! I totally loved this book, and can’t wait to read the rest.
I love pretty much every book Christina Lauren has ever done, but this is hands-down my favorite. If you’d told me that a story about a drunken Vegas wedding to a French lawyer would end up being one I’d reread again and again, I’d never have believed you. But Ansel (the hero) is as hot as humanly possible and the sex scenes in this book are AMAZING.
I loved this book so much! It was my first read of the series and i think it’s my favorite. Terrific writing and fabulous characters make this a beautiful love story. I loved the sexy Frenchman so much. Ansel is swoon-worthy and sexy and so wonderful with Mia. He’s at the top of my book boyfriends list. Mia is such a beautifully written heartbreaking character. And the heat between these two is palatable. The twist and reveal in the story was pretty obvious but it played out really well. Worth the read!
Meh! Didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it. I did like the character development of the heroine when she moved to France and started to become her own person. That was probably my favorite part rather than the romance. I think it would have been a stronger book of that had been developed more and the romance less. Though I know a lot of people read this author for the sex, I want more depth.
