“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Sweet, sexy and devilishly dirty delicious.
Sweet Fate is the exciting and heartfelt conclusion of this series but please remember that it cannot be read as a standalone.
Sweet Fate does not pick up right after the ending of Sweet Liar. It starts in a delicious scene with that master of manipulation Donovan, making revelations to Dylan that start his realization of unspoken emotions.
What is Donovan up to?
Does he play a part in the development of this story??
Hmmmm….
Told in Dylan’s POV, realizations and admissions unfold in this passionate, and charming read. I got front and center seat to his struggles, his emotions and his kinkier desires!
When Dylan and Audrey last spoke, questions and realizations were made that may, or may not be realistic.
This story switched for me, from an unconventional romance of age gap, single dad to a story of missed opportunities and possible second chances!
I loved the push and pull, the build up and the climax. However, Dylan was not that old and he is gorgeous, well built, and smelled good. However, his self deprecating comments and connections to a grumpy old man bothered me about him.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the conclusion of Audrey and Dylan’s story. A love that persists despite his anxiety that he can not be what she needs, who she needs, even though their chemistry is off the hook.
It’s a classic Laurelin Paige book. We get deep with the characters as they grow and change before us. Some of that change is slow… they feel and we feel frustrated and confused as they try to resolve conflicting emotions. Some of that change comes super fast as the plot puts them into situations that force clarity in their thinking. And so Audrey and Dylan get their happy ever after, but not without some work they have to do, or some more hot sex they have (thank you as always).
Reading as a Brit, I also want to thank this writer for doing a good job with the character. Sometimes Brits seem really cliched to me… it’s painful to read. This was well done. That’s always a real pleasure.
I absolutely loved Audrey and Dylans story is was one hot fun book. Dylan set in his ways and Audrey just the opposite she was such a free spirit and a lot of fun and I loved the idea of KISMET as we see them struggle and then come to life accepting their fate and taking that big leap and let me tell you they are one hot couple and I loved them and that ending was pure perfection they communicate in the most funny delicious way and it was perfect.
A Fantastic Conclusion to a Fantastic Story
Sweet Fate picks up months after we leave Dylan and Aubrey. Time passes, but the attraction they have for one another does not. Fate works in magical ways, and the push and pull between these two will have you frustrated in the best way.
With age comes experience, and I think this is part of the reason this couple works. Besides the insane level of chemistry and steam, the experiences they have based on their position in life adds depth.
I highly recommend this duet.
Sweet Fate
Sweet Fate is the must read second book in the Dirty Sweet Duet. It continues the story of British advertising company co-owner Dylan Locke and American Audrey Lind.
Dylan continues to feed into his idea that relationships don’t work and always end in heartbreak. But things are different with Audrey. He feels the hold she has on him but insists are sticking to his beliefs. It’s easier to be lone,y than have a broken heart.
Audrey on the other hand is a hopeless romantic that believes fate brings people together. She knows Dylan is fighting his emotional battle. She sees the way he looks at her.
Sweet Fate delves deeper into Dylan’s battle with the idea of love and a happy ever after. Even though these issues are discussed in Sweet Liar, his emotional struggle gets more detailed. For Audrey, even though deep down she is willing to let Dylan, she still wants to fight for him. Make him realize that fate has brought them together. I highly recommend the Dirty Sweet Duet. This is another 5 star must read in Laurelin’s Dirty Universe.
NO SPOILERS!
Sweet Fate was a sexy, sweet, entertaining, and PERFECT conclusion to the Dirty Sweet Duet, and I absolutely loved it! Dylan and Audrey’s journey has been one of my favorites from Laurelin Paige so far, and I was ecstatic with the outcome to their deliciously sweet, sexy, and unforgettable love story. Ms. Paige never fails to write utterly romantic, steamy, and addicting love stories, and the Dirty Sweet Duet was another absolute MUST READ from her! I absolutely can’t wait to devour more from this author!
All I can say about Audrey and Dylan is, the woman always knows best!
Book two was even better, hotter, sweeter, sadder, crazier than book one! I loved Audrey and Dylan’s journey! They’re perfect for each other. Two ships that cross in the night that end up on the same path again, the stars align and kismet strikes again.
I think it’s hilarious that Donovan has his hand in every story in this book world but it shows us more of his awesome character too and who doesn’t want more Donovan?!
This conclusion of Dylan and Audrey’s story was so good. I love Dylan, he’s sweet in his own way and even though he was reluctant to admit it, he loved her from the beginning. Audrey is such a vibrant person and brought out the best in him. I loved this book!
Final Score – 4.5 Stars!
The epic conclusion has arrived to Audrey and Dylan’s story. Can one incredible hot night change the course of one’s life? For Dylan Locke, it has, and he’s not sure whether to be happy or flipping angry about it. See, Dylan has gone back to England and Audrey back to finish school in the States. They are worlds apart in their wants and needs, but “kismet” or is it “fate” has other plans for them. Audrey ends up in England working at the Museum of Art, and somehow … someway, Dylan finds himself in her immediate path and well – those old sparks get reignited.
But has Dylan changed? Does he want more of a future with someone – namely Audrey? Or will it just be a repeat of their adventure in New York all over again?
I loved the angst, the chase, the push and pull – everything that made this a true will he/won’t he. Because it came down to Dylan and whether he was finally willing to let go of the past. I loved that conversation that he finally had with his ex-wife (the she-devil) – it was a long time coming and something that needed to in order for him not to loose out on the most precious find – a second chance at love. I can’t wait to read the next book to spin off from this one – I’m sure it will be even more angst driven! Bring it. I do so love a good drama fest.
What a sweet and sexy conclusion to Dylan and Audrey’s story. Dylan let Audrey go at the end of Sweet Liar, not believing he was right for her. He was so jaded and cynical after the heartbreaking end of his marriage and Audrey believed in love and romance, wanting it all. Now month’s later Dylan still can’t get her out of his mind, and is elated when fate brings her to London. They still are the perfect match even if Dylan can’t see it yet. He is still working through his English propriety as Audrey proves she is the light he needs in his life. Their chemistry is still off the charts and I love Dylan’s dominance and delicious dirty talk. I was a bit frustrated with his contradictory angst at times but the story had a twist that made me understand and love him even more. I loved the ending and thought is was so sweet and perfect for them. I really cheered for Dylan and Audrey and this HEA to their breathtaking, and passionate love story has made me very happy!
I love the conclusion of Dylan and Audrey’s story. The chemistry between the two is off the charts hot but it took a little help from a friend to bring them back together. Dylan is so obstinate continuing on the path of self inflicted relationship ban but that doesn’t deter Audrey. Will Dylan’s fear of failure and commitment leave Audrey wanting? Will Audrey’s persistence pay off for her and Dylan? Five glowing stars for the conclusion of this duet!! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!
What a fabulous ending to Dylan and Audrey’s story! Told in Dylan’s POV, this story keeps readers on their toes waiting and anticipating what will happen next. Such a delicious story!!
What a great way to end Dylan and Audrey’s love story. Despite their age difference these two had chemistry like no other. It just shows that age is just a number. When your drawn to someone you can’t help.
Sweet Fate was one of my most anticipated read this month after the way Sweet Liar ended.
I was wondering if Dylan Locke would finally let his walls crumble or if he’ll fight like a lion against his feelings. I wanted to see how kismet was going to interfere in both our characters’ lifes.
Well I wasn’t disappointed with how Dylan struggles during all the book. The resistance was STRONG on his part; maybe too much but it fits his characters like a glove. Brooding, reluctant in giving any chance to love, Dylan is a real broken record when he comes to find reasons why he should stay away. Thankfully there are some moments of respite where I could hope for the best.
I would have loved to have some insight from Audrey which would have given Sweet Fate some more light but being in Dylan’s head all the time was also something I enjoyed because you feel it all through him. Sometimes it’s hell but the “reward” is all better at the end.
Now I know I’ll have to be patient to have Cade’s book but I’m so intrigued by him! We know practically nothing about him and why he stays away.
I still love love love Dylan and Audrey. Even with the huge age difference, they are perfect together. I absolutely love how Dylan tries so hard to fight his feelings for Audrey. The age gap really weighs on him and as much as he tries to ignore his feelings, he just can’t get her out of his head.
Audrey knows what she wants and she wants Dylan. She’s not afraid to fight for what she wants.
It was the perfect conclusion for these two!!
Sweet Fate is our sweet conclusion to the Dirty Sweet duet. Dylan is still being as stubborn as usual. Audrey is just trying to move on. The only problem? It seems that she cannot move on without Dylan being a constant now that he is back in her life. The chase of a lifetime with these two will have the wheels in you head turning. Will these two finally get their HEA? The chemistry was never the problem. The commitment is frightening. But I only can wonder if Dylan is more afraid of losing the love of his life. If you have read the first book of this duet, you need to find out how their story ends! I loved this duet! A great weekend or late night read!!
Okay….so I’m a little torn after reading this book.
But first, Sweet Fate is not a standalone. You had to have read Sweet Liar beforehand to know what’s happened so far. And please do, because that book was freaking amazing! And while you’re at it, read all the previous duets because they all take place concurrently.
Alright….so like I said, my thoughts are truly divided on how I feel after reading Sweet Fate. I went into the book already loving the exceptional story line and unconventional relationship between Dylan and Audrey. Their chemistry and attraction to one another, along with the beginnings of a strong emotional connection between them that we swooned so hard for in book 1, was what I was most looking forward to reading more of in this book. My excitement leading into this book was at an all-time high, I just couldn’t wait to find out what happened next.
But unfortunately, I felt the book had a repetitive narrative throughout the story, as it’s told completely from Dylan’s POV, which caused it to fall flat for me. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a complete story told from the hero’s POV. I just think that if we’d been given just a little insight about what Audrey was feeling/thinking, it wouldn’t have felt so lackluster to me. For most of the book, Dylan struggles with his growing feelings for Audrey. There’s a constant war in his head, always talking himself out of all the good things he deserves in life, no matter all the positive examples of relationships that are flourishing around him. Dylan having a constant pessimistic attitude towards love/relationships brought down thrilling tone of the story, in my opinion.
As much as I struggled with the first 75% of the book, the last quarter was by far the best. The drama and emotional outpouring are what saved the story for me. The ending could’ve been a bit longer for my tastes, as I love reading about characters after the HEA. But that’s just me being selfish.
I’m hoping my views on this book are just a one-time occurrence for me, as I’m a huge fangirl of the author. Her books are exceptionally well penned, including this one, and I’m really looking forward to what she has in store for her readers next.
3.5 Stars
Dylan and Audrey’s story continues and what a delectable adventure this is! If you read Sweet Liar you know they had one heck of a naughty ride in that book. Audrey is now living in London, she and Dylan get reacquainted with each other and start building a friendship. As much as they try, these two simply can’t resist each other and while it starts as a slow burn relationship(it’s so arousing), it eventually becomes full on sizzling!! I’m glad Ms. Paige wrote it this way and given how they started out, these two really needed to solidify that friendship which made this book more meaningful.
Sweet Fate is excellent, steamy (I was squirming) and romantic in the best way possible. And the ending was perfect!!
Sweet Fate is the conclusion to Sweet Liar, so if you haven’t read that one I HIGHLY recommend to read that one first, since this book takes place right where we left off.
I love Dylan and Audrey and I couldn’t wait to read this book and get more of their story! Dylan doesn’t believe he is right for Audrey. He is too jaded when it comes to love and relationships, he feels he is too old for her. Yet, he can’t stay away from her. He is drawn to her. Will Audrey be able to get Dylan out of his own head and show them how perfect they are together?
I loved that this was in Dylan’s point of view and that we were able to get more of an insight into his mind and his emotions, especially when it came to Audrey. I love Audrey and that she wasn’t willing to give up on Dylan, she slowly broke him down little by little.
Their story is beautiful and the end of this is perfect. I couldn’t have wished for a better ending for this two. This duet is a MUST read along with the other duet’s in this universe.
