Rather than taking him seriously, Skylar turns to the Pretendr app to find someone who will pretend to be his girlfriend. Jessie Monroe is married to her work at an after school music program. A big benefit is planned and she doesn’t want anyone bothering her for a date, so she signs up for Pretendr. But when Skylar and Jessie discover they’ve been matched, they’re shocked beyond words. Will Pretendr give these former sweethearts a second chance at love?
The Cowboy’s Match
In order for him to take over his parents’ ranch when they retire, cowboy Trent Reed needs to get on the straight and narrow and find a wife. Ever the rascal, he logs into Pretendr to find a fake fiancée instead. Pretendr is something Sally Marshall wishes she didn’t need, but her family has given her no choice. She’s successful in her own way, but it seems they’ll never see that unless she settles down and ties the knot with someone. Will Prentendr allow Trent and Sally to find love when they least expect it?
The Detective’s Match
Detective Phillip Russell has been handed the case of the century. There’s only one catch. The crime lord he’s supposed to go undercover to bring down only trusts family men. By joining Pretendr, he hopes to find someone willing to act as his wife so he can get closer to the crime boss and put him behind bars. Lucy Mills is a single mom working two jobs to pay the bills. She’s hoping to get a great new job at a law firm, but they’re not interested in hiring someone with so much baggage. She decides to sign up for Pretendr to find a stand-in husband and land the job of her dreams. Phillip and Lucy agree to help each other, but the more time they spend together, the more they realize the feelings they have for one another are anything but fake.

The Lumberjack’s Match is a short, sweet, heart-warming romance. The characters are very personable. The story is very well written. You can escape into this story when you need a break from this hectic holiday season.
The Rock Star’s Match is the latest book in the Pretenddr Dating App series. Skylar needs to clean up his act, but he does not want something real. He joins Pretendr and matches to Jessie, not realizing that she is his ex high school sweetheart. Of course sparks fly, but she lives in Cleveland and he lives in New York. Will they be able to resolve the geography? This is a quick, fun read that I read in one sitting.
The Cowboy’s Match is the story of Trent, a cowboy rancher, and Sally, a shy librarian. Both sets of parents are really pushing these two to find someone suitable and get married. Tired of the constant harassment, both Trent and Sally sign up with Pretendr and get matched. They spend some time texting each other and finally agree to meet. You will have to read this fun story to see if Pretendr picked well.
The Detective’s Match is a cute, fun novella – perfect when you need a little escape. Phillip, Lucy and Scott are well drawn, sparkling characters. I really enjoyed how their pretend relationship turned real.
I loved all these stories about people using the Pretend app!
Books 1-4 in the Pretendr App Series
The Lumberjack’s Match
This is a compilation of Books 1-4 in this series. (The Billionaire’s Match is actually Book 0 in this series and is not included in this Box Set.)
The Lumberjack’s Match is the story of Lacey, a shy young woman who feels awkward when trying to date. Believing that she has disappointed her parents because she is not married, she signs up on the Pretendr App. Her hope is that she can be matched to someone who she likes and who needs a fake wife.
Enter Rhett, a lumberjack who also signed up with Pretendr App. He wishes to buy a piece of property from a family friend. What he isn’t prepared for is that this family friend will only sell it to Rhett if he is married.
The App matches Rhett with Lacey. When the two meet face to face, Lacey discovers that she is not shy around Rhett and actually is able to enjoy his company. Rhett is drawn to Lacey, liking her gentleness and kindness.
Blake Andrews weaves this plot into a sweet romance without bedroom scenes or graphic language. Although farfetched in theory, this book will entertain the reader and deliver the HEA ending.
Cowboy’s Match
Sally is a very shy, single woman who is happy being a librarian. Trent is a single rancher with something of a bad boy attitude. Sally’s parents think she needs to get married and Trent’s parents think he needs a wife to settle down. They meet online, believing that they could make each set of parents happy if they were engaged. The catch? The website seems to cater to people wanting fake relationships.
Although the premise seems a little far-fetched to me, the author actually writes a believable plot with the help of wonderful characters. This is an old-fashioned romance, in the best sense. No sex scenes, no adult language. Just a sweet romance.
Detective’s Match
The Detective’s Match is another book in the Pretendr App series. This one is the story of Phillip, a detective with the Philadelphia Police Department, and Lucy, a divorced mother of one working 2 jobs to make ends meet. Phillip needs a pretend wife in an undercover sting while Lucy needs a pretend husband to land a new and better job.
I really liked the characters and the interaction between them. The author did a very nice job in giving them depth. The plot seemed a little thin and bordered more on fantasy than realism. Who in their right mind would admit in a job interview that a person wouldn’t be hired without a husband? As for the undercover job, if a man was a kingpin in a bank robbery scheme, I think it would be harder to infiltrate to the inner sanctum of criminals. However, if you want an entertaining read with little substance, this is the book for you. For enjoyment alone I would rate this a solid 3 1/2 stars.
The Rock Star’s Match
Skylar is a rock star who has lived up to the Bad Boy Rocker persona, so much so that his manager has given him an ultimatum: start acting like a mature man, get a girlfriend and clean up his image. Since Skylar isn’t able to go public in his search for the right woman, he chooses to sign up with a dating service to connect with a pretend girlfriend.
Jessie is an event coordinator who raises funds to help children keep music and art programs in schools. She is so focused on her career that she is unprepared, and without a date, for a big gala that she was worked on. Since she has been out of the dating pool, she decides that a pretend boyfriend is just what she needs to prevent office gossip about her “dateless event”.
Without revealing any spoilers, both Skylar and Jessie connect. This is a fun read with a few surprises. Excellent story telling and entertaining characters make this a 5 Star read. Clean, romantic book with the ever-present HEA ending!
The Lumberjack’s Match – Lacey is shy and lacks self-confidence around people, although she’s comfortable online and has a good social media presence. She needs a fake wedding to get her family off her back about marriage. Rhett has found the perfect piece of land to build his dream home, but the owner will only sell to a family man. He needs a bride, and soon, before someone else snatches up the property. They have a fake wedding and honeymoon to please her family, then move to his small town to begin to convince the property seller that they’re a “family”. Somewhere along, the way, they fall in love for real.
The Rock Star’s Match – Skylar is in his 30’s, and needs to shed his bad boy rock star image. A wife is perfect for his public relations makeover. Jessie works for an educational foundation, and needs a date for a benefit event that she organized. While they’re communicating via the Pretendr app, she figures out who he is. And they do have a past together. It doesn’t feel much like they’re pretending when they begin their relationship. Soon, the old feelings return, and they have to figure out how to move forward.
The Cowboy’s Match – Sally and Trent were trying to fool their parents into thinking that they are mature and moving forward in life. They ended up fooling themselves. They are both so sweet, and obviously have never been in a serious relationship before.
The Detective’s Match – Some of the things that happened in the book don’t add up – a real police department would’t risk using an unknown civilian in an undercover operation. Also, someone would call child protective services on Lucy for leaving her 8-year-old son alone at home. Phillip was quite hurt with his previous divorce, and Lucy has problems with her ex being an absentee dad. But this was a really cute story. Lucy and Phillip were falling beyond being the fake spouse, but both of them were afraid to admit it to the other. Lucy’s son realized it before she did. They fell into the engagement rather quickly, but they seem perfect for each other.
I enjoyed reading all of these books, and will look for others by this author.
