Two years ago Violet Vancroft was a nomadic artist who never wanted to put down roots and Andre Shaw was a prominent Boston physician whose roots ran too deep to unearth. Their love didn’t stand a chance—or at least that’s what Violet believed when she received a plea for help from the sister she’d never really known—so she snuck away like a thief in the night.
Now Andre travels the world setting up new medical clinics, and Violet has finally found the family she’d always craved and the roots she’d never known she wanted. When their paths cross unexpectedly, it’s not the reunion either one imagined. But they’ve never stopped loving each other, and after the dust of anger and hurt settles, passion ignites even hotter than before. As the end to Andre’s time at the Cape nears, reality sets in, leaving them no closer to a future than they were before. Violet and Andre are forced to dig deep to discover if they’re destined to live apart forever or if true love really can conquer all.

While you can read this as a stand alone, and I recommend you do, it is also a wonderfully romantic addition to the Bayside series. We first meet Violet in Sweet Love at Bayside, which is the story of how her sister (born half sister but becomes true sister) Desiree Cleary meets Rick Savage.
We learn how Violet feels the outsider and needs to remain free and independent. She has a distrust of people that we will not truly understand until this book, number 4 in the series.
As the series unfolds and develops, we enjoy getting to know more about the Bayside community, residents, their passions and how they overcome difficulties and grow as people.
Violet is one of the characters I feel has the most growth to make, obstacles to overcome.
Raised on the road or on the run with mother Lizza, a very free spirit, Violet finds making deep connections intimidating. She has friends, good friends, but always has a back up plan, an escape plan, if you will.
Until the day of Desiree’s wedding, when there comes a time of no retreat, no place to hide. Her past finds her and she has to figure things out for good.
A second chance romance that will have you glued to the pages and begging for a happy ending
Ms. Cole has a way of making the world within her books come alive. The characters become your friends and family. Ms. Cole allows us to catch up with those friends and family with each new book added to her series’.
In Bayside Escape Violet and Andre get their second chance at love, but have to work to keep it. I love that we finally get to know Violet better. Andre is the perfect compliment to Violet, but I would expect nothing less of a Cole hero. I think we get a little more insight into Lizza and her motivations, but she still isn’t my favorite person.
I loved getting to catch up with the Bayside family and I can’t wait for the next time!
I am SO thankful to read Violet’s story! I’ve been wondering about the history of Violet and was thrilled to find out that she got her own story! The whole Andre and Lizza bit had me fuming for Violet and thinking what a small world. I didn’t want to put the book down once I began reading! A fun read for your weekend getaway!
Have you ever read a book and then spent the next few hours/days wondering about a secondary character? That is how I felt when I read some of the other Bayside Summer books and learning tidbits about Violet. She was this mystery to me, her tough exterior, her interesting relationship with her mother and sister, and her heart that was crying for someone to break down the wall around it all had me wondering what her story was. In Sweet Escape we learn about Violet and all my questions got answered.
I knew there was a man in her history, a man that she loved and then left. When Andre showed up, oh boy, I knew Violet’s life was about to get shaken up. I have to say that I was worried at first about Andre’s relationship with Violet’s mother but knew that Addison Cole would never be mean enough to put one of her characters through that angst. Andre is amazing. He loved, he pushed, and he gave room as needed but never lost sight of the fact that Violet was his and he had no intention of losing her again.
As Violet learned more about herself, her reasons for reacting the way she does to people, I could see her softer, sweeter side come out but she never lost the tough as nails person that she is known as. She lets people in, she starts to trust, and she learns that opening her heart is an amazing thing. The experiences yet to come for her make me smile.
I have been dying to read Violet’s story from the moment we first met her! Sweet Escape at Bayside is her and Andre’s second chance love story, now Violet is a super feisty woman and I was wondering how she would fair in a sweet novel, but Addison did a brilliant job bringing out the sweet and softer side to her allowing everyone to enjoy her story.
I love second chances, and Violet & Andres story was definitely a heartfelt one, when you learn of her reasons for running all those years ago. Their love is strong, passionate and hot as hell with just enough spice to make you blush.
4.5 Stars
I’ve been waiting for this book. After meeting Violet I so wanted to know her story. This book blew my expectations. It had the heart and feels that I wanted for Violet. It has the camaraderie between the characters at the Cape that I love. I was sucked into the story right from the beginning and it resulted in a book hangover. It’s one that’s hard to put down and one you’re hate to see end. I highly recommend this book!
Finally! Violet’s book!!! And even better than getting the book I’ve been waiting for since Desiree and Violet made their appearance, it had all the feelings AND explains so much about why Violet acted the way she has in the rest of the book in the series.
Oh, and Violet’s ex showing up with her MOM at her sister’s wedding, what a hell of a way to open a book! Talk about a fabulous way to suck you into a story.
was so excited to read this as it was Violets turn for romance and couldn’t wait to see who that would be and I have to say I was not expecting Andre but they do go together so well! A second chance romance that had me laughing in places, shedding a few tears in others but oh this was sooooo good, I think it’s my favourite so far and I love this series.
I am so thrilled to finally read Violet’s story in Sweet Escape at Bayside. As always, Ms. Cole’s book sparkles with believable, personable characters. Andre is the opposite of Violet. He is patient; she is snarky. Andre refuses to let Violet hide her true self. This is a tender love story that will make you laugh as well as cry. As usual with Ms. Cole’s books, I stayed up way too late to finish it! I highly recommend it!
Sweet Escape at Bayside is book four in the Sweet with Heat: Bayside Summers series. Violet and Andre’s relationship didn’t last years ago, and when they find themselves together again, their passion is just as strong as it once was. But can they be more than that this time? Their story sucked me right in, and I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it.
I love Violet’s and Andre’s story. Violet has always been a bad biker babe, but now she is also showing us a much softer side of herself too. Andre is a wonderful man. He seems to know exactly what Violet needs. I love a good second chance romance, and this one is beyond good. It is such a passionate, emotional read, with lots of sweet with heat, and parts that will make you laugh out loud. This book hooked me in from the beginning, and I did not want to put it down. It is Addison Cole at her best, and I highly recommend it.
Sweet Escape at Bayside by Addison Cole
What a great sweet hot romance story!
“You’re not a witch. You’re just not used to letting someone love you.”
Recommend.
Addison Cole does it again!
This is another touching, soul-searing story from Addison Cole. Violet is a wild child who moved around as she was growing up. She always longed for the roots her half-sister has. Even when it was most important, everyone is waiting for her mother to show up for her sister’s wedding. Just as they’re about to start without her, she shows up with a man that’s so familiar to Violet! Andre is the love of Violet’s life, but she left him behind. Now he’s back. And the patience this man has with Violet brings out her caring nature and her vulnerability. And together, Violet and Andre grow and blend to the very best of themselves alone and together. This is a beautiful journey with all the feels! I can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful series!
I was provided with an ARC of this book and I am providing my honest review. I have received no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
Sweet Escape at Bayside.
The story is sweet, fun and completely entertaining. Wonderful story of a second chance between Violet and Andre. There was something about Violet that tugs at your heart strings, she feels like her life is out of control and not really sure where she belongs. Andre is loving and patient and doesn’t give up on Violet even though she try’s to push him away. Addison Cole really has a way of pulling you into the story.
Violet gives off the impression that she’s hard, no nonsense and without a care or emotion. She’s always pushed everyone to be or do what was best for them but never seemed to do that for herself. In this book we find out more about her secrets, her past and why she seemed to have two separate lives. She’s lost so much and has issues with long term and trust. Then there’s Andre…he’s never gotten over Violet and now that he’s found her again, he’s determined to win her back and keep her by his side. Oh what love can do!!! No spoilers, other than it’s about time Violet got her HEA!! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
This was sweet and fun.
Here we have Violet and Andre. They fell in love a few years back before Vi just up and left him, and now by sheer luck they reunite again and realize love never faded between them.
I really liked these two, they were both honest about their feelings, but also about how confused they were about everything, particularly Vi. She was all over the place at times, yet I loved her honesty about not knowing where she stood.
Vi was also a fun character with so many layers, I loved how there was always something new to learn from her. Andre was also a great character to read, so in the open with his emotions. It was refreshing.
I really liked their interactions, their ups and downs and fun times between them and the rest of the crew (what a fun group!).
All in all, a fun read. <3
*Thank you to the author for providing a copy for which I’m giving my honest opinion*
Sweet Escape at Bayside is the fourth book in Addison Cole’s Bayside series.
Sweet Escape reveals the secrets that Violet Vancroft has hidden from her family and friends of Bayside. It begins when Andre Shaw, the physician Violet had fallen in love with in Ghana, shows up the day of her sister Desiree’s wedding. Violet is shocked to see him and that he is with her flighty mom, Lizza! Andre is just as shocked to find Violet, after she left him heartbroken two years prior in Ghana.
Andre has the soul of a man who sees through Violet’s tough exterior. As Violet and Andre realize that the love they had in Ghana had not faded, Violet’s facade begins to soften and she opens herself to Andre. She reveals to him her true passions and what she has been doing for two years in Bayside. However, he cannot understand her reasons for keeping parts of her life compartmentalized and secretive from her sister and close friends. It is through Andre’s patience and love that Violet finally opens up to her sister and reveals what she does. While speaking with Desiree, Andre wisely summed up Violet, “She was tough as nails and soft as silk. I don’t think there’s another woman like Violet on this earth.”
After revealing to Desiree what she had withheld for two years, Violet has to deal with the emotional aftermath of her confession. In addition, she faces the decision of whether she will follow Andre as he goes back into the field treating people in third world countries or remain in Bayside where she has settled and made her home. But then…isn’t home where the heart is?
As always Addison writes from the heart. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Sweet Escape at Bayside. I hope as you read it you will feel the same.
Hard and cold on the outside and sweet and soft on the inside. As we met Violet from the other Bayside books, she seemed very self-sufficient, uncomplicated, though somewhat reserved and very outspoken. She also seemed very open on the sex matter, being very ok with casual sex. Well, we hardly knew the real Violet. This book tells us a story of a broken girl, who longued for long term relationships with her sister, stepfather, friends and who was extremely afraid to open her heart to others due to the previous losses in her life. But one man was patient and loving enough to get to know the real smooth Violet, or Daisy as he liked to call her. But he made a terrible mistake proposing to her when they finally made love for the first time and all her fears came strong and she left him without a word. This books tells us the story of Andre and his Daisy finding each other again more than 2 years later…. Be prepared to travel through the deep layers of those incredible characters and having the opportunity to meet a whole range of new friends who were kept hidden from us on the previous stories of this awesome series. Addison continuosly bring us great emotional stories and keep us wired for the next books on the series. Hope they come soon!!
What a good story. I’ve been wondering for awhile now since we first met Violet in the first Sweet Bayside story who was going to have her heart. She needed someone that really understood her. Andre was definitely the right man for her. I loved the appearances of other characters from the other books as well. It’s always fun to catch up with them, and to get little nuggets from other series in the same world as well.
I.loved.badass Violet !
I really liked Violet when I first met her in a previous book and I was really looking forward to her story; with her badass attitude, tattoos, motorcycle and wild personality this could only be an awesome story and it was! Andre and Violet’s story started years ago but we were kept in the dark until faith puts him back on her trail. I could feel Andre’s pain from getting his heart shredded to pieces and his soul step on like a dead leaf from being hurt by Violet’s action in the past but when they finally kiss; HOLY Hotness overload! Violet protects herself but shutting others around and not letting them close but when I finally discovered her real personality and all of her secret I fell in love with her; she’s an amazing loving tough gal! They were both scared and wouldn’t admit their own fears so it draw them apart; makes us realize that communication could have save them a lot of sorrows. At one point I got really mad with Desiree (Violet’s sister) and felt like smacking her. I love how Addison can bring her characters to life and that makes us want to meet them for real. There are a lot of people interacting in this book and I personally liked it because I read all the previous books and I can see how they are all related. This can be read as a standalone without a doubt but It’ll make you want to read more of Addison’s book for sure!
