A marriage proposal gone wrong—a second chance to get it right. When architect Marley Patterson goes out with Von Ryan, she never expects her practical, cautious life to be turned upside down by the handsome contractor. Von is the definition of fun, until his proposal sends her into a panic. Marriage is too serious a commitment to make after dating for only six months. Even though she cares for … Even though she cares for Von, they are too different, so she breaks up with him.
Being rejected hurts, but Von blames himself for not reading the signs or Marley better. He finds solace in work; however, his construction company’s success isn’t enough. He wants to share his life with a woman who’ll love him as much as he loves her. She’s out there. All he has to do is find her and, this time, be patient for the relationship to develop on its own.
After Marley is assigned to Von’s new project in Indigo Bay, he treats her the same as everyone else—professionally and with respect—though neither can deny a strong mutual attraction still exists. Soon Marley realizes she may have been the problem with their relationship, not just Von’s proposal. She wants a second chance, but after breaking his heart once, will he give her a do-over?

Marley and Von had only been dating six months when he proposed to her. Marley thought she made the right decision when she broke off the relationship, but she never got over him. Von is left with a broken heart. Both of them throw themselves into their careers to cover up the pain. But they’re thrown back together on a project in Indigo Bay. How can Von give her a second chance when he’s still hurting from the first time? This sweet story is so realistic, you can totally relate to the characters. It’s the kind of story you’ll stay up late to finish reading (like I did!) Count on a happily-ever-after, with a few twists to keep you entertained.
A book about second chances and forgiveness.
Could you forgive the woman who broke your heart after saying “no” to your very public proposal? Could you try again with the man who rushed in too darn fast?
We see Hope again from Sweet Beginnings as her twin brother Von moves forward to claim his happily ever after in this quick read from the Indigo Bay Second Chance Romance series.
Marley and Von have a past, one that left him humiliated, heartbroken, and alone. So what should he do when she is the one wanting a second chance? Is it worth the possibility of getting his heart broken…..again?
This books is part of the Indigo Bay series but can be read just on its own.
I have read several books by this author and do enjoy her writing!
I received an ARC of this boo, and the review is my opinion.
Marley and Vonn got off to a bad start but fate brings them back to working together. This is the story of how to make it work! Loved it!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sweet Do-Over is a sweet romantic story of second and maybe even third chances. Poor Marley has not gotten over how her college boyfriend lied and stole from her so she erected a wall and will not let herself have feelings for anyone.
I was amazed at Von Ryan and how much he really loved Marley when she did not seem to really love him back. I enjoyed that Von was willing to risk giving Marley another chance after they ended up n a work project together.I guess there may be hope for these two characters. I was surprised and pleased with how the story turned out. I also want to know more about frozen hot chocolate. Sounds yummy. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
It took me a bit to get into. I loved Von right from the start. I had to warm up to Marley. I wasn’t a big fan of her in the beginning. As the story went on and I got to know her better the more I began to to like her. I just didn’t like how treated Von at times. Though Von had his moments because he moves a little too fast, but he has way more romantic moments. This picked up for me rather quickly and the more I got into the story. I really liked the town and the people who live there. The secondary characters were great too.
A sweet second chance romance that I really liked
Marley and Von were together, but after a proposal that was just too soon, Marley broke up with Von. Now fate throws them together again. Disaster? Or can they find a way back together?
Von used to be all about fun, but ever since Marley broke up with him, it’s more funk than fun. They are opposites. He is a risk taker, Marley is cautious. She is practical. She’s not letting her heart speak.
I loved Von and Hope (his twin sister, from Sweet Beginnings) together. Big Bro and Lil Sis: you could just feel their bond.
I must say: Von seemed like the perfect guy. Honest, reliable, respectful, kind, fun, adventurous and good-looking! Almost too good to be true! But Marley only sees their differences. It doesn’t help that her family disapproved of their relationship as well.
Dual POV. I found myself drawn to Von’s POV as the most natural one, but I did like Marley as well.
I really liked the story. It had a good flow, good pacing, and was most definitely sweet! I enjoyed reading it. Likeable characters, with is always a plus. And I loved the ending!
This book left me craving frozen hot chocolate. I’ve never had one and it sounds delicious! LOL.
A heartwarming second chance romance between Von and Marley. Von proposed to Marley and Marley was not ready for marriage. Von suffered humiliation in his hometown of Indigo Bay. Neither have gotten over each other. Marley has returned to Indigo Bay, working along side Von. She is now having second thoughts on her decision and has asked for a do-over. Will Marley this time listen to her heart?
A sweet romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. Great characters that were very likeable. Love visiting Indigo Bay. I highly recommend this book.
Sweet Do-Over by Melissa McClone
Marley Patterson and Von Ryan, are the main characters. They decide to give their romance a second chance because there are still feelings one both sides. She is a architect and he is a contractor. They both fall back in love with each other but Marley fights it the most. I really enjoyed this book and totally recommend to anyone looking for a good romance book.
I totally enjoyed reading Marley and Von’s love story in Sweet Do-Over, a heartwarming, sweet romance by Melissa McClone, and book two in the Indigo Bay Second Chance Romances series. Marley Patterson was hurt badly and deeply by a college boyfriend which caused her to build thick walls around her heart and struggle with trusting men. When practical and cautious Marley dated Von Ryan, who was the definition of fun, she expected them to date longer than only six months before a proposal is offered. Questioning her readiness for marriage and suspecting they are way too different, Marley not only says no, she breaks up with him. Von feels dejected and blames himself for not reading Marley better. He buries himself in work, building more success in his construction company. Imagine his surprise when Marley is assigned to his new project in Indigo Bay. He treats her like everyone else, professionally and respectfully, but neither of them can deny that the strong attraction between them still exists. After some reflection, Marley realizes how she might have been the problem with their relationship, not just Von’s proposal. Taking a chance and putting her heart on the line, Marley asks Von if she could have a second chance. Von has some hard thinking to do after she already broke her heart, deciding whether or not to give her a do-over.
I struggled a little with Marley, not seeing Von for who he is and not truly opening up her heart to the love he tried to share with her. Instead of knowing her mind and heart, she lets her family make decisions for her. Finally realizing how she was the problem earlier in their relationship, Marley owed Von much more than an apology. I wish her family would have intervened more and helped her to trust herself more back when her college boyfriend devastated her. I loved how supportive Von’s twin sister was, not telling him to walk away from Marley, but to trust himself.
Ms. McClone wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving love story that is not to be missed. This story contains emotional and lovable dialogue, endearing and likeable characters and the magic of love; often a theme of her books. I highly recommend Sweet Do-Over to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
After a very public breakup Marley and Von are forced to work together. You would expect that to be awkward but after a good talk it works. It works so good that old feelings appear again. But is it wise to try it again or will it just be a recipe for heartbreak again?
Sweet second chance romance story. You can feel the mixed emotions from both main characters, but the HEA is sweet.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and provide voluntarily this honest review.
I loved every minute of this sweet second-chance romance with endearing characters and a well-written story set in the charming South Carolina beach town of Indigo Bay. I loved the undeniable chemistry and romance between architect Marley Patterson and handsome contractor Von Ryan. If you enjoy clean and tender romances, don’t miss “Sweet Do-Over” that will bring you reading pleasure, leave a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from Booksprout and this is my voluntary and honest review. I liked the book so much, I purchased a copy.
This is a multi-author series, I am looking forward to reading some new to me authors with stories centered around Indigo Bay.
Marley is an architect and she’s assigned to a project after a co-worker quits the firm. She had strict instructions to make a good impression in order to win a second bid for a large and very profitable project.Von is the builder on this project and this could be uncomfortable. Von had very publicly proposed to Marley and she turned him down. The video is still making the rounds and is quite embarrassing. In spite of all that, Von agrees to the project even taking her on a tour of the property. That leads to a dinner and a bit more.
Of course nothing is going to go totally smooth and there are many people who dislike her for what she did to Von, including his twin sister.
Marley is going to have prove herself to them and get over a lot of internal issues for this relationship to work at all.
A few twists and turns professionally, a leap of faith and plenty of romance make this a must read.
This is book 2 in the Indigo Bay Second Chance series and it features Von and Marley. This is a sweet romance. The male lead was VERY weak and the female lead was way too fickle for my liking. The entire story ran at one pace. There were no exciting ups and downs. Secondary characters were more interesting than the leads. It was just not for me.
Sweet Do-Over is the second chance story about Von and Marley. About seven months ago, Von proposed to Marley, in a flash mob, and she turned him down. Two weeks later, she broke up with him. Now, they’ve reconnected because of work. I loved this story and the other characters we get to catch up with. If you enjoy second chance books, you will enjoy reading this sweet, clean story.
I really enjoyed Melissa McClone’s twist on a second chance love. Most of the ones I’ve read consist of a very young couple, separated by a misunderstanding, “class differences”, or an outside schemer. But Marley and Von haven’t been separated very long, she was the one who called it quits, and the are successful professionals in their 20’s.
They are also very different personalities…he’s impatient, she’s a planner; he’s very open, she’s extremely private. But I think these differences draw the reader into their story more, waiting to see if one or the other will change to fit the relationship better. I was fully engaged in their second chance and could not put the book down (story of this readers life!) McClone has another sweet romance hit on her hands!
Sometimes giving up something or someone just makes you realize how much you wanted that thing or person. It’s sometimes very difficult to overcome trust issues when you have been burned so badly. Marley certainly could have handled some situations in her life differently, but you know how we do things makes us to we are. Can we change? Absolutely, but it’s not always an easy process to do so. Things do happen for a reason. Can Marley and Von move forward with their lives or have they been given an opportunity to get what they both really want? Love the sibling relationships in this story. Indigo Bay sounds like a great place to visit or live. I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
Marley broke Von’s heart but did she also break her own? It has been 7 months and Von is really trying to move on. They are thrown together by work. I was so impressed by how kind they were when they saw each other again. Von is truly a kind man with such a forgiving heart. Will Marley see her mistake or is their hope for them to start again?

I love second chance romances. I guess you could say I’m a sucker for believing the best about a person and think they should get a second chance, well most of the time.
This “Sweet Do-Over” romance is just that, a sweetie of a book.
Marley broke Von’s heart when they had become close in their relationship. She wasn’t ready for the relationship to progress and wanted to further her career. She furthered her career alright but at the price of her relationship.
When architect Marley Patterson, who is on her way to the top in the firm realizes there is an opening that will further her career she jumps into the vacancy. Just her luck though, with taking this job it will put her into daily contact with her ex, handsome contractor Von working on his new project in Indigo Bay. I loved reading the beachy descriptions of Indigo Bay. Sounds like a relaxing and promising place to live.
As they work together they have flashbacks of their past relationship but he tries to keep their relationship professional. Doesn’t last long though but is he willing to possibly get his heart broken again by this career driven woman?
I enjoyed getting to know the characters and see how much respect they have for each other.
Nice simple but yet realistic story line.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you.
All opinions expressed are my own.
After not seeing each other for months after their breakup that went viral, Marley and Von cross paths on the job. Neither expected that seeing each other would start them down the path of dating again. I received an advance copy in return for an honest review. While I don’t know many people who would give each other a “Do Over” after the way they broke up, it is a lesson in second chances. The story was sweet. Both main characters were likable. The secondary characters were supportive family and friends. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it. While it is part of a bigger set of books set in the same locale, Indigo Bay, it completely stands alone.
