This was a totally enjoyable book. I loved the interaction between Hannah and her son, Nathan. Dean Hodel created a realistic scenario among Hannah, Adam, Henry and Nathan. In this day of divorce and blended families this was a nice read. I recommend this book.
Realistic characters, dialog, and situations, the good and bad of small town living… and sweet romance.
I can’t wait to get the rest of the series!
(Review with spoilers)
First book I read by the author. It’s a clean romance. I loved it and I recommend it.
Hannah has never been accepted in the town. Adam has returned, like the prodigal son, because he wants to live there. When their paths cross, will they separate again?
I love Adam. He is a good man who has worked for years to support his family, and who has decided to follow his dreams. A great businessman, and also a naive man, who believes that with money he will be more easily accepted in the town. He is a romantic. It’s easy to tell by the way he treats Hannah. He is a businessman who loves manual work, and who wants to be a difference for kids. Despite their breakup, he has great respect for Nadia, his ex.
He is attracted to Hannah from the very first moment. I think he accepts her idea, not just to help her, but to be able to spend more time together, to get to know each other, to show her how he feels. He doesn’t lie when he tells her how he feels, he’s sincere. But she doesn’t see it.
Hannah is a strong, independent woman who has been struggling for years to give her son the life he deserves. Strong, but also insecure. With her physical appearance, because she thinks that no one can find her attractive. And also with her relationship with the people of the town. Do they reject her, as she believes, or is she the one who has kept herself apart?
She likes Adam, but she doesn’t think he can like someone like her. And although he tells her more than once that he does, she doesn’t believe him, she doesn’t take him seriously. She has confidence in herself for everything, to fight for a better future, but not to see herself as she really is?
I thought I wouldn’t like Henry, but I did. There have been a pair of moments when I haven’t, because of what he said, but I like that he wants to change, that he wants to be part of his son’s life. It’s late, because he has lost many moments with Nathan, but he fights for a second chance he knows he doesn’t deserve.
I love Geeta. She is able to see people for who they are, not for who they say they are.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
Loved this book it has well developed and engaging characters and a storyline that flowed smoothly from the beginning to the end.

You can’t go wrong with any of the books in this series by Dean Hodel. Sweet romance, great characters, well written story line and description that makes you feel like you’re right there in the story with the characters. Highly recommend.

Hannah thought she had the life she wanted until her husband Henry left her. Since then it has just been her and her son Nathan. She has just opened up a BnB and her first guests are Adam Cade and his grandmother. Adam’s family was from Sweet Bloom but moved to the big city to make their fortune. They are attracted to each other but Hannah can’t believe he could care for her. She feels she has nothing to offer. I really enjoyed this book.
Hannah’s judged harshly by her little town, and does the same thing to Adam. He was attracted to her immediately, and once she gave him a fair chance, they had an opportunity to move forward. After a few bumps in the road (and a few tissues on my part), they’re headed for their HEA. Really liked this book – easy to read, likeable characters, and a happy ending. I first read this several months ago as part of a boxed set, and it was nice to revisit the story.

This was a beautiful love story about a woman wanting love and a man who wants a family. Hannah and Adam have both been hurt before but neither has given up hope of finding love. This is a captivating must read that readers will love and won’t want to put down. I loved this book from Dean Hodel.

Sweet read. The characters each have their own strengths and weaknesses. She’s a transplant to Sweet Blooms and he is originally from Sweet Blooms just having moved back. And they fall for each other while pretending to date. Besides a few spelling and grammar mistakes I loved it!
this was a really great book! she is trying to make it in a small town with her son after her divorce. he has money and wants to have a family and settle down. these two meet and decide to do a fake relationship. only feelings start . read to find out what happens.
Small Town life is a delicate balance.
I experienced being “new” outsider myself in many. Even getting to settle down finally didn’t change anything. This story brought many of those memories back. Thankfully the sweetest ones.
Does anyone besides me love the movie “The Christmas Card”? When I began reading this series, it was with Skye and Caleb’s story. He was the wounded veteran and she was the sweet, small-town girl, much like the premise of one of my favorite movies.
In this book, the series comes full circle. Hannah, Skye’s best friend, is a struggling single mom. She’s an outsider and she just wants what is best for her son.
I really enjoyed getting to see this story arc come full circle. This was a story about unconditional love and accepting yourself.

I found this Author earlier this year and have enjoyed each of the books in this series, this is the first book in the Love Happens series. I hope there are going to be more stories to come, I know when this series is finished I want to read them all again. The story runs smoothly from page to page and has a great storyline. This is Hannah Jenkins a divorcee and wealthy bachelor Adam Cade’s story. I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. I started reading this series a few books in when that wacky Gran to Adam finds her own romance, and Adam and Hannah were already sorted out. I was especially attracted to that story because it was not just another trope about twenty somethings and a right away HEA. It has seniors dealing with dating and love when both potential partners have relationship baggage and real properties to deal with.
One of the fun things about this story is that I finally get a bit more specific detail about how Hannah and Adam dealt with their own life and romance baggage- and how they turn it to advantage. Their attraction is instant and intense, but romance is at first nowhere on the scene.
Another thing I particularly enjoy about this series is that each book has enough background to be read either as a standalone, or in order.
Sweet Blooms is a charming town filled with a diverse collection of people. The stories are filled with the lives, lives, hurts, joys and losses of adults who have imperfect past and present lives. The present action is pretty clean, though some folks have lived through divorce or death of a spouse. The town is both sweet and supportive, as well as having that small town judgy neighbor, or the challenge of trying to date, and realizing some of the singles are extended family, or they will not forget you were wild once at seventeen.
In short, it is like visiting a real life small town, but better – and it is someone else who has to figure out the details.
An addictive read, and a great town full of life!

I thought this was a great read. I love the small town romance and the characters are well developed to me. Adam and Hannah are cute together. I don’t understand all the bad reviews I saw. Great series so far worth the read.
Sweet Beginnings
Good quick read with interesting characters and an intriguing small town story
I’m sad to say but this series obviously isn’t one for me. I’ve read them a bit out of order starting with Sweet Compromises and I thought that this series wouldn’t be so bad to try and read. However, I was wrong.
I’m not sure how anyone could really like Hannah’s character. She seemed to give everyone the run around with her up and down emotions and lack of self-esteem. She’s got this big chip on her shoulder to prove to this small town that she belongs that she’s convinced Adam to ‘date’ her in the hopes everyone would see her in a new light. However, I hate to say that if I was living there and was as narrow-minded as the rest of the town, I’d think she went from one resident and took his home to the newest millionaire resident. ..kinda fishy…
There were also so many inconsistencies with the darn story. For instance, Adam is suppose to be traveling with his grandmother but then in a conversation she starts asking him about marriage and when he’ll give her grandkids. Then Hannah while telling Adam a bit about herself talked about her mother divorcing her father, but then later in a different chapter the story changes to her never knowing who her father was…
It was just too much for me to enjoy this story. It’s very rare when I run across a book where I’m not rooting for the couple to come out on top and stronger, but in the case of this story…I’d tell Adam to run and run far away.
Another great contemporary romance that made me smile. Both characters were amusing to read and their relationship was sweet. I enjoyed how they overcame their issues and prejudice to be together.
A divorced mom of a thirteen year old from the city and a rich bachelor from a small town. Both want to live their lives without all the gossip so why not help each other to keep the gossipy people at bay. What starts as a simple way out soon becomes complicated as feelings arise between the two of them. It’s an amazing, sweet, and inspiring story that I couldn’t put down.
