MY TAKE
I loved this book! I didn’t realize when I first picked it up that it’s a prequel. Her Best Match, the book that follows, was the first book I read by Dearen. It was so fun to see Steven Gherring again, knowing what was coming his way. It was also fun to see how his PA in that book had found her HEA. Now I want to go back and listen to Steven’s story again!
Dearen always writes characters who’ve lived through some traumatic things. In this case, both Gary and Katie have dealt with cancer. He had it as a child and survived while Katie’s sister had it but still lost her later for another reason. Both were forever changed by it. Gary ended up with a taste for adventure since he knew there was a chance his cancer could return so he lived each day as though it were his last. He believed he could never ask a woman to share a life that could be short. Katie, on the other hand, had been raised by fearful parents who wanted to prepare her for every eventuality since she hadn’t been when her sister died. She’d never have an adventure and thought herself boring (as her ex-fiance had told her when he broke up).
When she and Gary meet, there’s immediate physical attraction that they both try to put a stop to, but then they go on a combination business/athletic training trip with Steven who’s getting ready for an ironman competition. With all that time to learn more about each other and share some sizzling kisses, all Katie and Gary have to do is figure out how to get around their glaringly different life philosophies.
A delightful read and totally swoonworthy!
This prequel to Her Best Match was lovely!
I already knew Katie and Gary from Her Best Match. Wonderful to now read their story!
It did start out with one of my worst fears: an 8-legged monster… ugh. The story itself was WONDERFUL though! Lovely to see Katie come out of her shell, and to see Gary soften up.
Dual POV between Katie and Gary, which I loved. I definitely recommend this sweet story!
Tamie Dearen has the knack for writing wonderful stories.
The plot was so interesting and has humor, serious issues, romance lots of heart.
The characters became my friends and I felt like I was right there.
A great book to make you feel good
I absolutely LOVED this book!! I fell in love with the characters, and the adventures that they went on were so much fun to read! Katie and Gary are just perfect for each other, and their interactions were so lovely!
I read ‘Her Best Match’ before this, and so I was thrilled to see Katie get her own story. I also LOVED seeing Steven! Due to the fact that I loved his story so much, it was lovely to see him again. If you haven’t read ‘Her Best Match’, I would highly recommend it too!
Overall, ‘Sweet Adventure’ is not to be missed. A fun time guaranteed!
I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. This has not affected my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.
I loved how Gary and Katie brought out the best in each other and encouraged each other to get over their fears and grow. To me, that’s what true love is all about. This was a sweet romance with all the best things–laughter, heartwarming moments, tears, and a happy ending.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
What a joy to read this book. I read until the early morning hours. I only had a few more pages but my eyes were so blurred I couldn’t read any more. Katie and Gary were the quintessential couple. I adored reading their story. I really felt for the both of them. I loved how Gary gently pushed Katie into going outside of her comfort zone but on her terms like the motorcycle ride. He was ready to step aside if Katie and her boss Steven had feelings for each other but he also had feelings for her. The inner turmoil that these characters went through was just heartbreaking but were necessary to finally get through to their HEA.
I loved the dual POV format. Seeing what these two thought and felt really made these two more real and easily identifiable. The only slightly negative who did Steven marry?!
I highly recommend this wonderfully sweet read to anyone.
A wonderful well written opposites attract romance. It includes misunderstandings, humor, light hearted banter, kisses, fears, struggles, and love. An truly interesting fun story as you find it can be worth it to take a chance. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
This is a second chance romance read between Gary and Katie. This was a sweet and wonderful read. It was a page turner and well written. This is a prquel to Her Best Match.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Good clean story
I enjoyed every minute of this Sweet Adventure. Katie, Gary and Steven were fun characters. Katie and Steven were far too serious, so it was a good thing they had Gary to lighten them up! I had to laugh a bit at Katie’s fears, but they were very real for her. It was fun to watch Gary get Katie to try new things. This is a clean, sweet, well written romance that can be enjoyed by many readers.
Great plot and characters. A must read from this author. I volunteered to read an advance copy for an honest review
This story has romance, humor and interesting characters. They say opposites attract but Gary and Katie at first glance appear too far apart to even find each other, but they are just what the other needs. Tamie Dearen does a wonderful job letting us see what had occurred to make these two such opposites and yet perfect for each other. The book has been worth the wait.
I received an advance copy of this book. The opinions given are my own.
I love the Best Girl series and was so excited to discover this was a prequel and Katie and Gary’s story. What a sweet story! I never would have guessed that Katie had so much baggage and fear holding her back. I love Gary’s love and patience with her. They are so wonderful together. I loved this book and now I want to read the Best Girl series again.
It is so difficult to find good romance books that are clean and well written. Tamie Dearen fits the bill with this wonderful book. The characters are engaging! If you enjoy sweet romances that will keep you entertained will enjoy this book. I received a copy of this book for free and was on an advanced review team – this review, however, is voluntary.
I received an advanced copy from the author and give an honest review.
I read this book back in March, 2019, but I think I need to read it again. I made a note that it was an “awesome book.” After reading the description of the book, I remembered how much I enjoyed it. The characters are well developed and the plot goes smoothly along. When a book makes you feel good, it’s worthy of being revisited. This book will be my next read, again.
I like the fact that this talks about trying new adventures. I liked the characters in the story. I liked that children were included in the story. I liked that Gary was ready to do all it took to want to win Katie’s heart. I liked the humor in the book. I like how the bucket list turned out. I liked the healing in the book. I am sad that Katie’s parents didn’t know how to talk to her about her sister’s death & sad that Katie blamed herself. I hope when other’s read the story that might have lost a loved one that if they are blamingthemselves they will understand accidents happen & no one is to blame.
Always want to know Katie and Gary’s story. It does not dissapoint.
Storyline is wonderful, characters are great.
Love everything about this book.
A nicely written romance about conquering fears and finding love. This book is also a prelude to the “Best Girl Series”.
I was given an advanced copy of this book, and I am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
This book is actually a bit of a prequel for the Best Girls series. It was fun to learn Katie’s love story. The pace is fast and keeps the reader engaged. A very delightful book!
Once again Tamie has done an excellent job with this story! I didn’t want to put it down.
