Now, I’m a captive on a ship; one of the trafficked people I vowed to save.Kaspar’s a toy —a pleasure slave— content to warm our sadistic … content to warm our sadistic owner’s bed; he laps up the abuse he’s conditioned to associate with affection.

Officer Jiao Sweatt thinks I’m a victim.
He has a lot to learn.
And it’ll hurt.

4.5 stars 4.5 stars Jiao and Kasper
Jiao is an undercover officer and after his cover got blown he lands as a prisoner and a trafficked one himself on a ship. He will be trained and end up adopted or dead.
On board he meets the beautiful Kasper, pet of the highest in rang. Jiao wants so save the people on board, the question is do they want to be saved,
Kasper wants to serve his Master and that isn’t easy, Kasper has to fight the voices.
When Jiao has to master Kasper, he doesn’t know what’s happening.
An amazingly written story, dark, very dark and quite a disturbing read.
We see a lot a dark action passing by: people trafficking, complex mindf ck, indoctrination, torture, isolation, branding, humiliation and a lot lot more.
Stunning personalities Jiao felt almost laughable with his morals between all the horrible cruelty. Vladimir as master brain and Kasper with his complicated mind.
Absolutely captivating written story with an unbelievable brainwashing plot. Very well done!
Dive into the matrix
This book is no holds barred. Not only did I hurt for Jiao and Kaspar and the things they were forced to go through but also I literally twinged in pain and fear for them. No one writes evil like Emma Jaye; she’s a master. I like how Jiao tells it like it is, especially when idiots give him a hard time, and he puts them in their place, very humorously, I should add. He’s also very clever and stubborn, which I think works for and against him in this world. “I want you to want me as a person…” Kaspar threw me for a loop. His emotions roll through him like the sea but I like him. I am curious what will happen with them in the next book. To be honest, I had to take some quiet time after reading this book. It’s a total mind melt that I still haven’t fully recovered from but I absolutely loved it! It will leave you guessing and wondering which way is up or down or maybe sideways. An excellent dark, depraved romance.
Strap in good in tight – This is one wild ride
In not even sure where to start
Suspenseful – Engaging – Entertaining – I couldn’t put it down – I was fighting my inner child not to peek ahead – I so desperately wanted to know what happened next.
Jiao is undercover and when he makes a conscious choice to risk everything to save someone – things go south, real fast. Jiao awakens to a reality that leaves him questioning everything he once believed. Can he hold strong to what he knows is the truth? Or will he end up just another cog in the cults wheel?
Kaspar is content to serve his master, to serve the order. When changes suddenly are made Kaspar finds he is jealous, lost and questioning the truth that he has for so long believed.
There are so many great supporting characters in this story. The unexpected plot twists and the “Holy Chit” factor are off the charts!
I wanted to peek ahead and make sure everyone was where I thought they should be.
I wanted to close my eyes and turn away.
I wanted to comfort.
I wanted…
This is a collection of short stories by multiple authors – each book is a separate story but all revolve around the same theme
Be prepared as they deal the some of life’s darker evils and Jaye – She held nothing back
I want to say real quick a section of this takes place in Anita Grays Blaire’s world.
Holy hell can Emma Jaye write a dark, filthy, gritty story! I adored this.
Jiao Sweatt is undercover and taken. When he awakens to find he’s imprisoned on a slave ship he does his best to get his bearings and figure out his move. But he quickly learns that there is a hierarchy at play and the one he thought was a toy ends up being more than he ever thought possible.
The story started out with a bang and unraveled consistently throughout each chapter. More and more information was brought to the surface and each time things became murkier. I loved the suspense and the anticipation that this writing style created. I was on the edge throughout the story and literally had no idea how it would end.
This was so well planned out and artfully executed. I was lost in the emotions and twists of the story until the very end. And what an end it was. Brilliant. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Sweating Lies, was not what I expected. But boy, was it a ride! If you’re not into dark books, then this one is absolutely not for you. Dark and delicious, and hot AF!
In the beginning of the story, I didn’t know what to think. It was a bit of a mess with too much information and..just all over the place. But I kept on going, and I’m so glad I did!
It did contain some repeated information.
“Jiao had spent his life being dismissed, for being short, for being an immigrant, for not having a family, and always being the outsider.”
The world described in this book is one we all know it exists, but that most choose not to acknowledge. Drugs, weapons, human trafficking are facts that happen all over, but as long as they don’t touch our lives,we can pretend they don’t exist.
This book is a reality check. Emma Jaye is great at introducing the readers to this underworld. Absolutely a page turner, Sweating Lies is highly engaging, with twists and turns in the development, and I couldn’t put it down. Of course, it’s disturbing and mind blowing, but also very well written and with great character development.
And ,who knows, maybe something good,a hope for a brighter future can shine out of the dark environment.
Sweating Lies is a phenomenal masterpiece by Emma Jaye. It’s well researched and with an astounding plot that showcases why Emma Jaye retains the Queen of Angst title. It was emotionally captivating and kept me on the edge of my seat!
The character development is flawless. The author really understands the complexity of people and it shines in her writing. The development is so strong it was impossible not to feel for these characters, whether love, hate or any mix of emotions. The world building was very intricate and added a vividness that kept the story moving along.
I didn’t want this book to end but at the same time I needed to know what would happen. My heart was racing through a good majority of this book and the pacing was on point. I think this may be my new favorite of Emma Jaye’s and I desperately need more!
5 stars for a captivating, suspenseful and angst driven read!
5 mindfucking stars!
From the very first pages the book warns, this is gonna be a dark read. But with every page it only gets darker.
The world of the undercover cop, Jiao, flips upside down when he is betrayed and submerged into something he never dreamed was real. Orta – the society where people are branded, trained, and sold like animals. Sex slaves, gladiators, murderers; brainwashed people who would do anything on a command. Watching them, Jiao realizes, this would be his future, unless he escapes.
Kaspar—a diamond in the dark—broken, yet utterly attractive. His deep personality and unpredictable behavior fascinates Jiao and gives him a hope. Not only for escape, but for something bigger, but the more he watches, the more he realizes, things aren’t always what they look like.
This book isn’t for people with weak hearts or people who get easily offended or shocked. Deep psychology issues, insecurities, moral questions, and the blurred line in between of wrong and right is what made it a 5 star read for me.
I can’t wait to read the second book.
