I knew this book was gonna be hot when I read the blurb but after reading it I think my kindle exploded. Ash was sizzling hot and so was the “romance” and “teaching” There was some drama but it was overall a hot as hell book with a cute HEA.
A fun book to read.
WOW! I not only loved this book, this book and I are in a relationship. This book is not for young readers. That being said if you aren’t a young reader, you will enjoy this book too much! As I sit here and think about this review I know I have a lot to say about this book and I don’t think I will do it justice. I love this book, Gemma James has an incredible story to tell and I’m sure there are some people that can relate to this story in some way. There are challenges in this story, as most stories but I love the way this book flows. I read the book in a few hours, started this morning and finished by dinner. Of course I had my fair share of interruptions but this book had me mesmerized. I wanted to read faster than my usual pace (which is already fast) and sometimes I wanted to read too fast that I actually caught a glimpse of what I had in store on the page after.
I really felt like I knew the characters, and that they were painted very carefully. I felt like this story could have been real and it was refreshing how caught up you felt in the characters and their relationships. There are some parts you expect but some parts you are happily surprised by. I felt anxious, nervous, happy and sexually frustrated at the same time. It was perfect in its execution, this story now is one of my all time favorites.
Sad for a family to reject a child
Great book. Would recommend it to everyone. Best friends can be more than friends. Loved this story
Sadly, some of the characters in this book annoyed the heck out of me. Ashton is perfect – Sadie not quite but her parents??? Good grief – they need a rewrite. The story line is good but I always have a problems with characters who are TOO awful or TOO good to be true. Granted, I’m no trust fund baby who would know about uber-rich, controlling fathers but Sadie’s father bothered me every time he was in a scene and I wish he and his relationship with Sadie had been portrayed differently. Her mother, thankfully, was less visible. Other than that – I loved the main characters and happily cheered them on towards their HEA.
Not a lot of a plot most sex.
Definitely a steamy read. I was little annoyed at Sadie and how she kept getting ram rodded by Jake and her Dad and not speaking up for herself. But i guess that’s where Ashton comes in to be her voice her courage her backbone. If your looking for a littlr bit of drama steamy page turner this is it
Great book, couldn’t put it down!
This book was very good. I had to keep reading until it was over. I highly recommend it.
Gemma is the master of making us want ten more books to her stories. A five star read.
Yes it’s a very erotic. But overall I found myself on a emotional journey. I felt sympathy for him. He loved her and how she treated him made me sad. I am glad for the HEA, but a the same time didn’t love it.
This is my first book that I have read of Gemma James and I would have to say I was not disappointed, I will definitely be looking into some more of her books.
Swallow Me Whole is a Friends to Lovers Tale. But it’s not just about that there is also a cheating ex-boyfriend, a overbearing and controllive father, oblivious mother, a cool best friend and her sexy as sin manwhore of a twin brother and the heroine that doesn’t want to go for what she wants as she is too afraid to disappoint anyone.
I fell head over heals in love with Ashton Levine. He is everything you want in a man, he is sweet, sexy, dominant, protective. I really loved how Ash owned he’s feeling for Sadie from the very beginning and never gave up on them regardless of the obstacles they both faced.
One thing I didn’t like was how Sadie was such a doormat with her father. I do sympathise with her as I to have a very controllive dad, and it is very hard at times to stand up to them and it doesn’t matter how blue in the face you get, that once they make up their mind there’s no chance of changing it. But she never said no and just made excuses and said it wasn’t time.
Other then that I really enjoyed reading Swallow Me Whole.
I loved this book. I got so angry at one point that I didn’t think I was going to be able to finish the book, but I’m glad I did.
Not a bad read.
I was loving this story from the get. Sadie and Ashton were great. The story has everything I was looking for.
Friends to lovers.
I really wanted to keep loving this story but, at some point in the story the lead characters and I suffered a disconnect.
Sadie got too annoying and her constant “I want to be strong but I can’t help but be weak” behaviour was anything but endearing to me.
Ashton, I love a redeemable manwhore but goodness the man was dense and foolish.
I still likes them, I just didn’t love them. The story was entertaining enough.
Sexy, Hot Read! Friends to lovers with a lot of sexual frustrations throughout! Ashley@White Hot Reads
My first read of Gemma James and it won’t be my last. The story of Sadie, the virgin, and Ashton the manwhore who have known each other since the met on the playground as kids. They both have wanted each other without letting the other know. When Sadie decides to give Ashton a drunken blow job the two will never be the same. What happens next? This friends to lovers story shows that standing up for what you want makes all the difference in the world.
Swallow Me Whole by Gemma James. This was a first time read for me by author Gemma James. Swallow Me Whole is a friends-to-lovers standalone romance, and will suck you in from start to finish. This story was definitely enjoyable and absolutely had its sweet moments. There’s not a whole lot of drama in this one but enough to have you engaged. Swallow Me Whole is about the story of Sadie, the virgin, and Ashton the manwhore who have known each other since they were kids. They both have had feeling for one another without letting the other know. When Sadie decides to give Ashton a drunken blow job the two will never be the same. These two slowly start to sizzle and what we end up getting are some hot and steamy moments between the two of them.I absolutely loved Ashton. He was cocky yet cheeky at the same time. It was easy to see the appeal he had and I think any woman would easily fall for his charm. He’s also a sweetheart and you can tell his heart is in the right place. Should they be doing this and, will it hurt their friendship? Only time will tell. This is a great summer time read loved it.
Swallow Me Whole is everything the title means and a little more. This is a childhood friends to unrequited lovers story. Ashton and Mandy, twins, have been best friends with Sadie since second grade. Ashton and Sadie have been in love with each other for nearly the same amount of time, but neither has ever acted on it and have pretended otherwise the entire time. That is, until Sadie’s fiancé Jake, who is a lawyer in her dad’s law firm and approved husband material as far as her dad is concerned.
When Sadie attempts to surprise her fiancé at the office and take the next step, she finds him in a compromising position with his office assistant. Although Sadie is furious, she also is jealous of the office assistant’s skills. This starts off a chain reaction with Sadie in which she then goes to drown her sorrows at the local bar with Ashton & Mandy and proceeds to crawl under the table and give Ashton a little mouth action he wasn’t anticipating.
Now, Ashton wants more, but their both playing it as a teacher/student situation because their afraid of loosing each others friendship. But it’s hard to not cross lines when you’re swallowing someone whole and heading into those areas of intimacy with each other. Besides the fact that we have a conniving ex for both Ashton and Sadie that cause problems throughout the entire story.
My only disappointment was the end and how or where Sadie and Ashton ended up. I think a little more respect should have been shown for what was being given up. Otherwise, this was a very hot little read with a little more to the story than the title perceives.
This was a great story line-and the cover is absolutely breathtakingly HOT, but I have to say for a large part of this book felt a bit forced and robotic between he characters. I will absolutely read more from this author, I just think that with Sadie being such a “goodie two shoes” type of girl, it was tough for me to switch gears and just have her ready to submit to her best friends brother-Ashton.
Sadie is trying to break out of her shell and get over her cheating ex, and while drunk, propositions her best friends brother-quite literally under the table of the bar. It was bold, but I actually liked the way the author went with this. From then on, Ashton admitting he is a DOM and craves that just was a bit overboard for me.
Again, I liked this story line, and the friends to lovers trope was definitely sweet and worked for this particular story. Just because the dialogue felt a bit forced to me, doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy this story! I would definitely give it a try if you’re looking for a friends to lovers book. – By Victoria
