Book one in the Surviving Series“Perhaps love is too strong of a word, maybe it’s only a feeling touching the edges of love, momentarily blinding our perception of the profound emotion.”Having never fully healed from that fateful night so long ago. Dr. Theodore Grants simply exists, traveling into the deepest darkest places of his past. Living where life and love no longer breathed. Unprepared for … longer breathed. Unprepared for the cure to come.
He was a prominent, renowned psychiatrist. He had it all: wealth, prestige, respect. Or so he thought. When tragedy unexpectedly struck, he was forced to help his best friend’s daughter.
What he didn’t know was that he needed her, like his own breath. He fought the desire leading him astray, but in the end, he wanted only one thing: Her. She found his demons and slayed them with her innocence, crept into his heart like a spark of light.
Passion sizzles, and sparks fly when the beautiful wounded Eden appears, to hell with what was right. Losing everything never factored in. All he wanted was to live in the moment.
Her moment.
Eden and Theo’s journey continues in book two where Alex and Madison take center stage.

This stunning suspenseful romance had me gripping my seat from start to finish. I didn’t know what to expect from the synopsis and the story just kept me surprised from beginning to end. I loved reading about Theo and Eden and their individual paths and development, and how they got drawn together. Extremely well written. I cannot wait to see what happens next in the series!
5 Star
Surviving Eden ( Surviving Series Book 1) By Virginia Wine is the first book in the Surviving Series. From the very first page I had a feeling that this was going to be one of those books that sucked you in and made you unaware of your surroundings. Man was I right. This was intense and had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next. Theo is not only a Psychiatrist but he is also a man that has no emotional attachments and just exists. He’s never felt that way with anyone that is until he meets Eden. He’s not only trying to help her but he finds himself wanting to protect her as well. There is definitely an attraction between these two. Eden is a talented and a very strong willed woman. What does the future look like I highly recommend reading this book especially if you want to know what happens next. I look forward to the next book. In this series.
Surviving Eden is the opening act to Virginia Wine’s Surviving Series. I read the fourth book first and she pulled me in with that story so I knew that I had to go back to the beginning and yes, Archer was also in this very first book and I know if I had started with this one, I would have gone on to read the rest of the series AND I do have the second and third book already downloaded on my app!
Surviving Eden is the story of Dr Theodore Grant and Eden Barrett. Both of them have experienced extreme loss and despite the age gap (Eden is the adult daughter of Theo’s dead friend) and professional therapist-client relationship, these two lost souls will seek comfort and healing in each other! These personal losses change one’s life, fundamentally, and they force us to re-evaluate our lives and change the direction we were heading to!
The story gives are twists and turns, heat, steamy sex scenes and romance …. I loved Theo and Eden for themselves and for each other and I loved Theo’s friends and I cannot wait for their stories (and I already know Archer’s story) and if they are anything like Theo and Archer’s stories then man, we are in for a treat!
Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine is the first book in the Surviving series. This book is one that centres around a taboo subject so might not be for everyone. However this book is definitely worth reading if you give it a go.
I was unsure as to how I would feel about this bill at first but when I got into I enjoyed the story. Although it is based around an older man/younger woman romance to me it almost had the same feel as a best friends sibling type story – forbidden fruit that you just can’t help but sample.
The author writes so well that you are drawn into the story gently and she quietly gets you hooked. Having read other books by this author I knew this would be enjoyable but I was surprised by just how much I liked it. It is a well developed plot with well developed characters. I would definitely recommend giving this book a try.
4 Stars
Surviving Eden is the first book in the Surviving series by Virginia Wine. It is a contemporary romance with a bit of a Taboo element in the form of doctor/patient, best friends’ daughter relationship- as well as some drama, great chemistry, interesting characters, and an intriguing plot.
The way the story was told gave me a really great perspective of what was going on, what the characters were thinking and how they felt.
Theo Grant is a highly respected and successful Psychiatrist who prides himself on being in control, at all times. He carries some issues from his past, and self-medicates with fast cars, women, and sex. His control will be put to the test when he is asked to take on his (recently deceased) friend’s daughter as a client, to help her deal with her grief. The sparks and chemistry are immediate, and Theo struggles to remain professional. What happens when their chemistry boils over? With his reputation and career at stake, what will he choose to do? I enjoyed reading Theo and Eden’s story and finding out what happens.
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Thank you, Ms. Wine!
Wow! Will I be able to survive Eden and Theo!? What a great story! This is my first one by Virginia Wine and thankfully won’t be the last. Surviving Eden was a story that I could not put down. I don’t know if it was the taboo situation of Theo and Eden, their actual connection, the total hotness of the entire story, or everything rolled into one, but I loved it.
Lots of emotions and feelings in this story, sadness, confusion, happiness, the feeling of being safe, love, hot sex. Yeah, this book has it all. I definitely recommend it for readers over 18 years. Can’t wait to read what’s next in this series!
This is a contemporary romance story I couldn’t put down until the end. The author’s writing style is easy flowing, characters are well developed and made me feel part of the story. The twists and turns that they took me on left me sitting on the edge of my seat and the emotional roller coaster was intense. Eden and Theo both have had tragic accidents in their lives that left them just moving through the motions until they meet. Will they find themselves when they find each other? A must read!

5 out of 5 stars
The story Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1) by Virginia Wine is a contemporary romance book. It is a book that is enjoyable to read and has characters that I grew to love with each chapter. The two main characters are Dr. Theodore Grants and Eden. Theo is a psychiatrist. He is also a man that simply exists, no emotional attachments. He has never felt that way towards anyone. That is until he meets Eden. He is there to help her and finds himself also wanting to protect her. There is an attraction that is undeniable, a pull towards her. Eden is a beautiful, strong-willed, intelligent, and talented woman. She also feels an attraction towards Theo. There is passion and desire between Theo and Eden. There are also conflicted emotions. What does the future hold for Theo and Eden? Read this story to find out. This is an author who knows how to write a story that will have your emotions going up and down the entire time. Theo and Eden are characters that I had empathy for and I also found myself wanting them to find happiness in their lives. This story also has a bit of mystery that will have you asking questions. There are steamy scenes that red hot and that make the temperature in the room rise. If you want to read a romance story that will have you turning pages to find out what will happen next this is the one for you. This is a powerful and entertaining first book in a series.
This book is written in a very introspective way from both Eden and Theos point of view. It gives a good insight into the turmoil both of them experience when they meet each other and over their pasts!!
I very compelling story. I look forward to the next book in the seires to see how the storyline and the characters develop.
For the most part, this was an enjoyable read it just had some slight personal preferences that let proceedings down slightly for me overall.
Without these niggles, my final rating would have been much higher.
I still enjoyed “Surviving Eden” At its heart, it still was a well written and at times extremely poignant experience.
This is a story all about loss and rebirth; About two people finding each other in the midst of this soul-destroying pain and loss.
We have Dr Theodore Grant; successful psychiatrist and Eden the daughter of Theo’s deceased close friend; And when he takes her on as his patient to assist her in her grief after the passing of her family in a horrific accident; he knows he’s sinking fast.
To further complicate matters Eden feels the same pulling connection to Theo and it’s not long before these two succumb fully to there pulsing bond and ultimate attraction.
This has a touch of the taboo feel to it; there is a thirteen-year age gap between Theo and Eden but that’s not what sends up the red flags here; the differences in their years is a secondary concern and only slightly touched on; its the taboo nature of there relationship Doctor and patient that is at the heart of this book.
Surprisingly there doesn’t seem to be that much of a concern over the threat of disbarment; rather than the actual worry that it is coming.
Theo and Eden hardly seem to fight there connection at all; I was slightly sceptical as This is someone’s career and livelihood we are talking about here.
Theo has been closed off emotionally for years; would he then succumb so swiftly to the softer emotions all at the expense of his job; mmm I’m not so convinced myself.
Despite the above, I did still enjoy the romantic dynamic portrayed here between this pair.
But I also still struggled with the fact; that Theo was, in the beginning, a bit of a Man-Ho.
I really didn’t need or want the graphic descriptions of his exploits with other women.
In some senses these encounters were hotter than the actual main course; Theo and Eden; which I found a bit out of whack myself.
I felt this added nothing to the proceedings at all just not needed titalation; I know what the author was trying to portray; Theos actual disconnection; a kind of voyeur in his own depravity rather than an actual participant; but for me, it didn’t ultimately work I’m afraid.
he just came across as a bit of a douche with absolutely zero respect for the woman he was hooking up with.
I actually felt quite sorry for his Ex despite her overall nastiness; she was just understandable jealous and took it out on the wrong individual.
There was also a great backstory here that was cleverly interwoven into the fabric of this tale.
Eden and Theo have so much more than there relationship to ultimately contend with; still lots of surprises to catch them unawares.
Things were also set up quite nicely for future endeavours.
There were only a few secondary characters here, but what we do encounter was quality; Gage, Edens bestie being my hands down favourite.
Once our couple connected they did stay true to each other, thank god.
This was told in dual POV and the finale was ultimately satisfying.
All things considered, this was mostly good for me.
Overall this was a bit swings and roundabouts, but taken in its entirety was mostly a good read.
Thank You to the Author for providing me with an ARC of ”
Surviving Eden (Surviving Series Book 1) ” of which I have reviewed voluntary.

Eden & Theo
They have each been through a tragic and extreme loss. Theo’s may have been many years ago but the wounds are still tender. Eden’s is recent and heartbreaking. A tale of two lost souls that wind up finding comfort and healing in one another.
They are now thrown together professionally and personally by extreme circumstances.
Eden Barrett a young beautiful women that is on the cusp of graduating from college experiences the loss of both of her parents .
Dr Theo Grant a well known and established psychiatrist is no stranger to loosing loved ones. Having lost his entire family at the tender age of seven. He is now given the tasks of helping a college friends daughter through the grieving process.
Neither Eden or Theo could have expected the immediate pull or attraction that they would feel for one another. The attraction is undeniable and along with that they soon find themselves on a path of secrets, lies and buried truths . This was an amazing journey with them!!
~~Michele McMullen ~~
Theo (Dr. Grant) has worked very hard to accomplish all he has, his relationship with his current “girlfriend” is purely physical. She doesn’t fulllfill anything for him although he really wasn’t in it to be full filled emotionally he wanted the physical contact nothing more nothing less. Oh how I adore our Dr. Grant……..I know losing a loved one is the hardest thing you ever face, and doing so at a young age was very traumatic for our dear sweet Dr. How can he heal those wounds when he keeps trying to ignore them? Then he gets some bad news.
Eden Barnett, she has just experienced a tragic loss. Feeling alone in the loss of the ones she loved she seems to shut down her emotions. Although she has a very close friend it feels as though she never really deals with her loss. Her Uncle Vince wants to get her some therapy, all though his motives seemed well intended I still questioned his sincerity.
Eden and Dr. Grant, from day one of their meeting you knew there was that spark, you could feel it. It may have only been from across a room at a glance but you felt that! Uncle Vince sets up some therapy sessions with Dr. Grant, it’s the best thing this guy does! Lol
There are no lulls in this story from page one to the last I was captivated. The perfectly timed twists and some majorly hot… HOT sex scenes and a blooming romance it was easy to get sweeped away. I loved the storyline of these two and I loved that we get to meet some interesting characters. I am looking forward to reading more of Eden and Dr. Grant and I hope we learn more of Alex and hopefully Steel!! I highly recommend!! Go get lost in this read!
