I had mixed feelings about this book. The action and suspense were non-stop when Con and Bailey were trapped in a mall on a stormy New Year’s Eve. Bank robbers had taken hostages, who were friends of Bailey’s, so she wanted to save them but, being a pacifist, she couldn’t figure out how to do that. Luckily her boyfriend, Con, was a SWAT officer and he had a plan – several of them actually. Even though Bailey had never been in a situation remotely like this, she wanted to help Con. All the reading she’d done sure paid off. She came up with lots of ideas that helped with his plans. They worked together outsmarting the bank robbers.
I found this book very slow for the first half so I thought it was a 3 star read. Then it got pretty exciting for the last half when they were in the mall so it went up half a star. But the end slowed down again bringing it back to 3 stars. I didn’t like Bailey at all in the beginning. I understood that she thought Con’s job was too dangerous so she wanted to break up with him but, I didn’t like it. But when they were trapped in a mall with bank robbers she got a little stronger and I liked her much more.
I am clearly in the minority with my rating so if you enjoy quiet romances, suspense and HEA, you should give this book a try.
