Sam and Jane Archer walk out of a backcountry-hiking trip into a living nightmare. Their car is vandalized and dead, along with every other vehicle in the trailhead parking lot. Unable to get a cell phone signal, and spooked by a threatening encounter–they resign themselves to a long hike home, suspecting a possible EMP attack against the United States.
What they discover along the way shakes them to the core!
The electrical grid has been down for two weeks, plunging the world as they once knew it into complete chaos. Citizens live in helpless terror of violent gangs–the police hunted down and killed on sight. Food and essential resources have dwindled to nothing, taken by the wild bands of marauders that have risen from the collapse to murder and plunder at will.
Little hope remain, as Jane, a local police officer, and her husband Sam, a military veteran, start the harrowing journey home to save their only daughter Lea–before she is consumed by the madness.

I love end of the world stories and this was a totally different take. Great, interesting read. I liked that part of the story was completed while still being able for me to want more. Can’t say enough about this book except to buy and read it.
I enjoyed reading about how this family survived. No one knows how they will react until they’re faced with an unreal situation. Page-turner. Each family member has a distinct personality.
It could happen and is a blue print for how to overcome adversity. EMP is never explained. I have already received bought 2nd book to find out how it plays out, good read
.
What happened to the third book in this series? This was so interesting i bought the second one but was totally disappointed that there is no finish to the story. Please get the third one out there.
It was a good read if you’re into these survival stories. I wish it would have been longer.
Waiting for the 3d in series.
I enjoyed this book and didn’t want to put it down. It was a bit different than other post apocalyptic thrillers. The writing was good, there weren’t spelling and grammar issues to drive me to distraction, the characters were likeable or unlikable, depending on their role. I didn’t like how it just left me hanging. I never like to get in to a series but this sounded worth the read, and was. Still, the next book will need to be better and have an ending….I won’t read more than two books. Too many authors are doing this. It’s a good read though,
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the sequel. I would have liked a third book in the series.
Good story with fairly believable characters. Nobody is a superman that has all the answers. Just people in a terrible situation trying to do the right thing and take the fight to the bad guys.
Great twists not typical zombie dystopian
Well written, great story. Looking forward to reading next book in series.
Also enjoyed the second book in the series and looking forward to the third one when it comes out.
I would only recommend this book to someone who is a prepper or interested in EMP’s or what life may be like after an economic collapse.
Good post-apocalyptic fiction, with a sufficiently different set of characters and circumstances to give it a slightly different perspective than many others have. Focuses on a very localized and somewhat less “global” scenario and issues. Definitely a page-turner which holds the reader’s interest.
Interesting characters, Looking forward to reading the sequel 🙂
Very original, yet believable story with plenty of action. Thoroughly enjoyed the set.
Lee West explores a new aspect of the post-apocalyptic landscape in The Blue Lives Apocalypse Series. What happens to the police in the wake of a nation crippling disaster? Survive and Escape is a harrowing story of survival and resilience against overwhelming odds.
world is ending, and how quickly does society fall apart. The book was okay. I was hoping for some more detail about the why things became the way they were. I was also hoping for the female lead to stay a stronger presence throughout the story. Looking for a different perspective.
Unreadable it was so bad. Deleted it after about ten pages.
