Book 2 in the Revolutionary Faith series is a gripping tale. After meeting these characters in Hold Me Close, we come to know them more deeply in book 2 as Louis and Elizabeth make some real life-altering decisions about their involvement in the Revolutionary War. Marguerite describes the time with precision and keeps the reader guessing all the way through the tale. I’m waiting for book 3 now!
This book is a continuation of a series that finds us back in the Revolutionary days. It was fascinating to read about the colonies during the 1770s. Fighting seemed to be everywhere and Louis feels torn as he has to leave Elizabeth behind for now. Their story is so nicely written and I’m glad they made an appearance in this book. It will be a hard road as they both want to be with each other.
They come from different backgrounds and this may cause some people to not accept their relationship. For now, Louis must concentrate on his family and decide where God is calling him to go. The beautiful details are impressive and I love the historical facts in the story. I can picture the battlefields and the men as they fight for freedom.
Elizabeth has been keeping herself busy with a new girls’ boarding school. It does keep her mind occupied but still deep down, her thoughts linger to Louis. The gift she sends him on his birthday is priceless. I loved how much faith has become a part of both of their lives. Elizabeth is still treading lightly around her parents as they are still determined to marry her off. The secret Elizabeth is hiding could cost her dearly. Can she trust the people she has told?
I loved how the author built up the arrival of Louis back home to see Elizabeth. The excitement jumped off the pages and I could see her jumping up and down. Now that Elizabeth and Louis are reunited for now, how will her family react? Louis knows that God has a plan for them, and he is holding tight to that. They are in for obstacles to deter them, danger and hope. Don’t miss this exciting story of trust, unconditional love and the belief that God is surrounding them.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my opinion.
The second book in the Revolutionary Faith series picks up where the first one left off. Louis is in France visiting family and setting up connections. Back in Charles Town, Elizabeth awaits his return keeping busy with the boarding school and teaching piano. Britian is trying to keep the colonies in line, but this only increases the need for independence and equal representation. Additional taxes create even more furvor with the Sons of Liberty eventually leading to the meeting of the 1st Continental Congress in Philadelphia. Beliefs are changing, and sides are becoming more defined. What will all this mean to our young lovers and their faith? Can they believe that God has it all in control and leave the future with Him?
I received this fabulous book through CelebrateLit. All impressions and opinions are my own.
Surround me
This is definitely a series you want to read in order. I believe I liked this book better than the first one. Both are good though and I look forward to the next one.
Set during the 1770s, during when the Boston tea party took place. I remember studying about it in school very long ago. I imagine it would take some research to write the book. I love reading historical books.
Louis comes back home to Elizabeth after his visit to France with his parents. Now it is time to plan their wedding. I loved the interaction between the characters. I definitely recommend this book.
.
I received an complementary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive review. This is my own opinion.
I enjoy historical novels and this one does not disappoint, we are back with friends that we met in the first book in this series set in Revolutionary times.
We get to travel around the colonies by way of a trip to Boston, and see first-hand what is going on to make these famous men want independence from England.
We also are given some sweet romance, and hope for a future between two of those that we met previously. Will these two, one French and the other a daughter of a staunch supporter of the Crown, be able to marry?
I loved all the updates, as we move forward, and am looking forward to a conclusion to this series, or I want to have more!
I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review.
Loved this book. A page turning book packed with action, suspense, romance, history and oh so much more. I’m hooked on the series.
Will read again and highly recommend.
