Mellie:Mellie has been hypnotized by a pair of gorgeous green eyes, attached to a very yummy package for months now. Unfortunately for her, her brain goes on hiatus anytime Morris Jackson is around. Looking like a bobble head whenever he asks her anything isn’t the best way to go about getting a man like him interested. Not like ruggedly handsome men go for quirky, accident prone introverts like … prone introverts like her. Plus, even if she did have a snowballs chance in hell with him, him being her brothers SWAT teammate doesn’t bode well for her. A girl can dream though!
Morris:
Those blue eyes sucker punched him the minute he looked into them. It felt like the ground had literally gone out from under him. Mellie is everything that he could ever want and everything that he shouldn’t have. Even if he didn’t know that she’s too good for a guy like him, her brother would never be okay with it. He is over protective and proud of it. But at some point you have to say screw the consequences and go after what you know is meant to be yours.
Too bad someone wasn’t happy for them when the found their way to one another. Someone will make sure they don’t stay together by any means necessary. They’ll even kill to get what they want.

Morris is a SWAT officer who used be quite the ladies man until he meets Mel, the little sister of one of team mates. Both are completely oblivious to the interest they both share until Morris finally gains the courage ask her out. If you enjoy annoyingly overprotective big brother who love to tease, smart, independent, sassy women, and alpha male officers you will love Surrender to You. Nikki Mays has created a tenderly sweet romance novel full of laughs, doubts, a stalker, danger, and love. I absolutely loved this novel and can’t wait for the next!

Until next time… Happy Reading!
Morris and Mellie…I LOVED this book. These are characters that are written as real…the get nervous around each other and had to have the help and teasing of their friends to finally get together. Morris asks Mellie out on a date…finally! I love the way they interacted at first…the chance meetings, the tongue tied moments, and the perfect description of first date jitters. The secondary characters are fantastic as well. Not everyone wants Morris and Mellie together, and their new romance is tested by someone that wants to hurt them physically. I am hoping for a next installment about the Mellie’s brother…Morris’s police partner.
Surrender to You (SAPD SWAT Series Book 1) by Nikki Mays.
This is a new author to me but just reading the blurbs about this book, I knew that I had to read this book!!!
Mellie and Morris have been infatuated with each other from afar for quite a while. When he finally gets up the nerve to ask her out, after the guys called him out on his crush on her, they are pretty much inseparable. The chemistry between these characters is totally off the charts.
The interactions between Morris, Marc and the rest of the SWAT guys is just hysterical and then throw in Mellie and her sarcasm, you will be laughing a lot!!!
I can not wait to read more from this author and I definitely can not wait for more of this series.
This book was such a fun read! I enjoyed the suspense and romance aspects of it. I found myself laughing out loud, which was inconvenient considering I was at the doctor with my husband. Lol I look froward to reading more from this author.
This story line while familiar, is not contrived but I hated the inner monologue approach of the characters. Threw me off the book. The book has real potential, and best friend of sib to lovers is good trope. Book would benefit from clean edit. I would like to read mire, this author shows talent and promise.
I found the story to be fun and I loved how real it was. It took a bit to get these two main people together but when they finally did it, then all heck goes on. Someone isn’t happy and are willing to do just about anything to make them stop… Its a great story and a easy read.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. I loved the premise. The blurb was great. But I just couldn’t get into it. The writing felt ham-handed and juvenile, and the editing was really poor – both things that a good editor would fix, and unfortunately what this story needed to take it from what felt like an amateur first draft to a polished final published manuscript. Hope to see more polish from this author in the future as her stories could be great with the right editor to help make them shine.

Coffee shop owner, Mel, has a secret crush on her brothers coworker, Morris.
What she does not know is that Morris has been crushing on her.
As they grow closer, they realize that someone is out to hurt Mel.
Its up to Morris and his other SWAT officers to find out who it is, before it’s too late. This book is action packed, sultry and a touch of humor.
This book captured me from the Begining this girl had a tiny crush on her brothers friend but everyone knows that’s a no go in the rule book but not only that mellie is a fire ball she is hilarious and her and Morris are perfect, there is a crazy behind stalker will they get the bottom of that?
3.5 Stars
This book and this author show so much promise!
Mellie has had a crush on Morris since she first met him through her brother. Morris, too, has had a crush on Mellie since first meeting her. Once they come together, they find that they’re better together. I loved Morris’ protectiveness over Mellie, and I loved Mellie’s sarcastic wit.
There were a lot of good things about this book. The plot/storyline was really good. The author did a good job of keeping me guessing as to who was trying to interfere with Morris and Mellie’s relationship. I liked the side characters, as well. Mellie’s relationship with her brother was fun, and reminded me of how much my brother and I fought when we were young (and that that was the foundation for our strong relationship now).
Unfortunately, there were some things that really bothered me as well. Mellie’s inner monologue bordered on obnoxious at times. There was so much of it that it interfered with the story it seemed. This caused Mellie to be annoying in parts. In addition, there were some serious grammar issues throughout the book. I can overlook a few, but there were a too many, especially when it came to contractions and possessives, as well as homophones.
But again, there’s a lot of promise here. I like the side characters enough that I am looking forward to Michelle and Damon’s story.
I enjoyed this story. It has some drama, a few surprises and quite a few laugh out loud moments.
Mellie is likable fun and sassy. She is a perfect type of heroine who bags herself an alpha hot guy but doesn’t roll over and become a doormat for him.
Morris is sexy on a stick with a side of yum. He is kind caring but oh so very manly.
This is a great start to what I hope will be an excellent series..
Only negative is some of the character names. There are four main characters all starting with M, a side character also starts with M. I feel this could have been varied a bit and also, no offense to anyone with the name but I really don’t think hot guy when I hear the name Morris. I think of a balding retired man…sorry.
The story itself is good. I love how they are blubbering idiots with each other to begin with. The wit and sarcasm make it fun to read. All the guys on the team and Michelle make for good supporting characters. The only problem I had with it at all is the editing. Missed spelling and grammatical errors made it hard at time. Overall, I liked this book
I read this book within a few hours. The book was that amazing. I couldn’t put it down and I just couldn’t stop laughing. This book is awesome and if I could give it more stars I would. There are a few spelling and punctuation errors but it did not deter me from enjoying the book.
Morris and Mellie are secretly crushing on each other, but who will cave first and let the other one know?? This is a great first book in a new series and I can’t wait for the next one. This book has instant attraction, intrigue, twists and turns, sexiness, interesting secondary character, easy flowing dialogue and hysterical banter between brother and sister that is so relatable if you have siblings!! You don’t want to miss reading this one!!
Absolutely marvellous characterizations!
A whimsical tale. The inner dialogue of both the main male and female characters is hilarious … likely because it is so close to real life of what we all do in these situations. The kibitzing of the main male character and all his male team mates shows a great camaraderie and support of one another. The relationship between the main female character and her best friend is also full of repartee; along with her loving relationship with her brother. There is love and support flowing between all these characters, as well as with their families. Yes, there is a most charming romance unfolding and blooming but there is also drama, mystery and suspense components as well. A great story that ends with a very happy ever after but also, with some ethical and moral issues regarding mental health issues for the reader to ponder. It is easy to see where there could be future books if this is a series and this reader relishes the thought of getting my hands on more of this author’s works.
