When the snow hits the fan, will you be ready? In Surrender the Sun, author A. R. Shaw delivers another far too plausible post-apocalyptic scenario challenging human survival. In the year 2030, a mini ice age hits earth like it did in 1645. A war-weary community scrambles. A recluse veteran must take charge or most will die from the effects of severe weather but also from man himself. In the middle … also from man himself.
In the middle of it all is a — oh, no spoilers.
Then there’s also the — then again, we don’t want to ruin that for you, too.

Good read and believable.
I liked the premise in this book. It is an interesting look into human nature.
Awesome doomsday scenario, and very believable…. Which is scary. I highly recommend this book! It’s really well written. The author’s similes and metaphors were original and fit really well with the story, and added to my enjoyment. Only ONE word use error found, so for an e-book it’s very well-edited (horde instead of hoard)!!
Excellent apocalyptic novel. Great characters. Good ending
Interesting storyline. Fast paced. Read at one time. Realistic.
This book is worth reading. It is a little bit predictable, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I appreciate the fact that the author did not make Bishop some super human hero. He has “baggage” that he needs to deal with, and though he is personally ready to handle the problems that occur, his involvement with others is a bit more of a challenge then flying solo. This story is intriguing and real enough to make me want to read the follow up novels. Plus I learned that in lieu of having a sharpening stone, I can use the unglazed bottom ridge of a ceramic coffee mug if I need to sharpen a knife. How great is that!
An “end of the world as we know it” story. The origin of this catastrophe is the onset of a Maunder Minimum – unique and plausible. I couldn’t really relate with one of the main characters, a woman who seems to spend a lot of time pining over her dead husband while she has more important things to be concerned about. I also had trouble believing that civilization would fall apart as fast as it does in this plot. It moves the story along I suppose but I can’t see nationwide anarchy and chaos just because it gets unexpectedly cold and snows for a few days. Ok for light entertainment on a cold day.
Solid writing, good plot.
Predictable but still a fun read
Entertaining series of three books, easy to follow, quick read.
Very intersting futuristic senerio. I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next book in the Series. Bishop is a very intersting character. I want to know more about who he is and why he is the person he is.
I really enjoyed this book and will definitely read more of Ms Shaw’s works. The characters are true to life and approach their apocalyptic circumstances as I would expect we would. The plot paints a picture of the way I’d unfortunately envision the way things would be.
Great read, I couldn’t put it down. Looking forward to the next group of this series.
Great page turner and interesting world to read about.
Good book
Good premise and lots of action. Main character a bit too much like a Marvel super hero, but all in all an OK read.
Great. Enjoyed very much
I loved this book until the hero turned into Rambo and the heroine turned into apocalypse Barbie.
Good book. Would recommend.
It started a little slow but before the end of the first chapter it got with it and kept my interest. I really enjoyed it.
