Is the risk always worth the reward?Lennox ‘Leni’ Ford was always a rule follower. But obeying the rules has never led her to happiness. So, Leni listens to her heart. And though that’s left her feeling alone and rejected by her family, it doesn’t stop Leni from continuing to dive in head first. Even when she knows she may end up hurt.Holden Locke is a brilliant man who’s always relied on logic … always relied on logic to steer him in the right direction. But his good sense flew out the window the moment he saw Leni standing outside her torched yoga studio. Now he’s got a choice to make. Listen to reason and stay away or surrender to his feelings and take a risk.
Before he can stop it, Holden finds himself submitting to Leni’s allure. And it isn’t long before the pair are wrapped up in each other. But the faster Leni falls, the harder Holden pulls away.
And as Holden wages an internal battle with his emotions, neither of them realizes that Leni’s gearing up for the fight of her life.

I read this story as part of a boxed set. Definitely worth reading.
This one lured me back with the company it was. These are the kind of reads I do love to disappear into at times. These two Leni and Holden are going to give you a good story that wraps around you. They both seem to be alike that they listen with their “heart” that led them in this story. But it also causes one to go one way and the other one another way. Danger will sneak its way in as they battle their egos that you will also be slowly pulled by the intrigue. I think you will find yourself rooting for Leni with this one giving a good solid read.
Surrender is the 7th book in the Cunningham Security series. This is the first book that I have read from this series. And yes, you can read it as a standalone.
If this book is my example of how good this series is then I need to read the first 6 books too.
This is Holden Locke and Lennox “Leni” Ford’s story. She said the dreaded words “I love you” and Holden just can’t go there, he has commitment issues, with reason. I still really wanted to kick some sense into Holden.
So, for those that might follow some of my reviews they might know that I listen to all my books using the text to speech feature on my kindle. Well I was so engrossed in this book that I apparently was ignoring my family. I do wear headphones while listening to my books but they were actually yelling at me and they still couldn’t get my attention that’s how engrossed in this book I was.
I am so disappointed in Leni’s parents. I know there are parents out there that are like that but I still couldn’t get over them.
I got so involved with Surrender that I got lost in it. I think it is safe to say that I may have a new addiction to reading A.K. Evans books!
Book seven of the series but can be read as a standalone. Holden and Leni met in book five and have been slowly moving, Holden, the big dork, doesn’t want anything serious but he can keep away from her and ends up being hot and cold with her. As much as he likes her he can’t allow himself to get attached. Leni is only hesitant because she can’t figure him out, she agreed to a no strings affair but the attachment was already forming and she feels she brought this on herself. Holden’s rejection doesn’t help with her self esteem either already having been disowned by her parents for following her heart; the only person who has been in her corner is her Grandmother. On top of all the emotional turmoil going on just when they think they have it all figured out something happens that might take all that away.
Overall, it was a good read, it kind of reminded me of one of her other books. Holden and Leni are a great couple it just takes Holden a bit longer to realize it. Told in alternating first person the story is emotional between what happened with Leni and her parents and Holden and his past the two of them finally getting together was a bit of work.
Love, love, love Holden and Leni’s story. From heartbreak to happiness it was an amazing book! Love the Cunningham Security family and all their stories! Can’t wait for the next book to come out!
I Love Leni and Holden! And Leni’s grandma is so funny! There was drama and action in this story. It made it so much more interesting. Especially when it was unexpected. The story was very well written, and another perfect part to the Cunningham Security series. Holden is sexy, sweet, and closed off. And Leni is funny, and wears her heart on her sleeve. It is a perfect combo to create drama, and sexy scenes.
I’m a huge fan of this series. Each character is so different but honour and integrity are high on their list of traits that they all share. Add in hot Alpha’s and you have a winning combination. We met Holden and Leni in Pierce’s book earlier in the series and I could tell that the sparks would fly so I was super excited to read their book. I was not disappointed at all! The emotions this book evoked were strong and I felt my heart melt for them. Leni’s courage and strength were amazing and had me tearing up reading her story. Holden is a real soft hearted guy and you could feel his struggle throughout the book. This was a wonderful story of triumph over adversity and knock backs. Wonderful book and series. I cannot rate them high enough. I can’t wait for the next one now.
Surrender was the 7h book in A.K. Evan’s Cunningham Security Series. While part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone.
Yoga instructor Leni Ford is finally happy and living the life she was meant to. Groomed from an early age to follow in her parent’s steps as a CEO in their communications company, Leni instead chooses to follow her heart. She’s found success in movement and in her yoga studio even though her parents cut her out of their lives and wears her happiness on her sleeve. But, her entire world is threatened when an arsonist burns her studio to the ground, leaving her no way to earn an income or stay connected to yoga, which helps her maintain the balance and movement she needs in her life.
Private investigator Holden Locke is instantly drawn to the beautiful and full of life Leni. Vowing to help her in any way he can, he quickly feels the pull of attraction and how easy it is to get wrapped up in all that she is. Holden has been burned before, however, and feels he can’t even risk his heart in that way again. The more Leni pushes closer, the more he tries to pull away. What neither realize, however, is that fate isn’t through with Leni just yet, and Holden, no matter how afraid of commitment he is, just may be the key to her survival.
I adored just how strong Leni was to follow her own path, regardless of the consequences with her unsupportive parents. She knows exactly who she is and is completely true to herself, and I don’t think that many people would be able to forge their own way like she did.
I also completely understood Holden’s fears and insecurities after his prior relationship went so wrong. I’m not saying I loved how he pushed and pulled at Leni’s emotions while trying to figure out his own, but I got it and I loved that the author made him so vulnerable to his past hurts.
This also wouldn’t be a fair review without a shout out to Leni’s amazing grandmother, Audry! She is such a bright spot in this book, offering Leni so much love and support and plays such a huge role in both Leni and Holden’s story. I couldn’t get enough her fabulousness in this book!
While Surrender is mostly the story of Leni and Holden finding out if they could and should surrender to their needs, desires, fears and past experiences to give their relationship a go, there is some unexpected drama that came out of nowhere that left me breathless! It really made for a thrilling ending to Holden and Leni’s story. 4.5 stars. And, be sure to download the bonus epilogue . . . it was brilliant and totally worth snagging for free!
This series just keeps getting better and better! Welcome back to Wyoming and the world of Cunningham Security! In Surrender we get to really know Leni and Holden who we were introduced to in Burned. I had been not so patiently waiting for this book because I was so excited to know more about the fun yoga teacher and the ever sot hot private investigator. Let me tell you, Surrender did not disappoint!!!!
A.K. Evans always gives us men we cannot help but fall in love with but one of my favorite things about her books are the heroines. Once again she has introduced us to a brave, loving and strong woman we can all admire and who we all wish was our friend.
You are going to love this one!!!!
Oh, Holden. For such a smart man, he sure excelled at letting irrational fears keep him away from what he really wanted. As for Leni, even her past and fears of leading with her heart didn’t stop her from putting herself out there. I adored both of them, though I wanted to slap Holden more than once for his bullheadedness.
While their story feels a tad different from other books in this series, it is no less fabulous or emotional. In fact, Leni hit me harder than most of the women involved with Cunningham Security men because she was so determined to try to be different from who she knew she truly was, all to try to have some semblance of a chance at anything with Holden. I started reading for Holden, but I stayed and finished this story because Leni grabbed me and wouldn’t let go. I enjoyed their road to happy and can only sit and pretend to patiently wait to see what comes next from this author.
