From #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes the next standalone rockstar romance in her Seaside Pictures series…I had his posters on my wall when I was sixteen and when I accidentally got pregnant in high school–his was the face I dreamt of when I closed my eyes at night. Now, over twenty years later, that dream’s turned into a reality. Not only is Drew … reality.
Not only is Drew Amhurst in my tiny town of Seaside, live and in the flesh…
But he’s mentoring my rockstar son.
Drew says he’s mine for a week.
And he made me three promises.
“No strings attached.”
“No falling in love.”
“It’s only seven days.”
He’s confident that he can help me rediscover myself both in and out of the bedroom, and I’m confident that he’s too arrogant for his own good.
And at the end of seven days, he swears he’ll walk out of my life the way he came into it.
The only problem is, the more I get to know him, the more I want to surrender the last pieces of my heart and beg him to stay.

Once again, Rachel Van Dyken has written a book that has found it’s way onto my favorites list of 2020!! Surrender was an amazing read and I was hooked on every single word!! Drew was so incredible. He went from cracking me up in one sentence to making me swoon in the next. I absolutely LOVED him!! It was so wonderful to watch as he showed Bronte that she was beautiful and that it was ok to be selfish to want something more for herself. She did an amazing job of raising her children, but what did she do for herself? It definitely took some time for her to fully open up to the possibility of more with him, but when she did take those steps it was awesome.
I also loved the moments where Drew interacted with her daughter – the Not-Dad comments were hilarious, but you could also see in those moments how there was a bond between Drew and Amelia that you knew she didn’t have with her bio dad. And the band’s text messages to each other…..I couldn’t stop laughing, but it was great see them all trying to help and support Drew – especially Will.
I really loved this book, as it just had a feel-good storyline and the characters were just wonderful. Even if you haven’t read the rest of the series, you won’t be lost and I hope you fall in love with Drew like I did!
Although this is part of a series you can read it as a standalone but honestly why would you not want to read the others and find out the other characters back stories.
This one features Drew and Bronte. They are in their mid thirties and have been through so much in their lives that its defined them and lead them to be the people they are now. I honestly loved these two together their connection and chemistry was electric and entertaining.
Once you start this you will not want to put it down until you have finished and you will most defiantly fall completely in love with Drew……..Swoon
One of my top reads for the summer. Sometimes you have to look under the surface to see the diamond, it’s not open and visible to the naked eye. Both Drew and Bronte have been hurt in the past. They’ve had different coping mechanisms, some more damaging than others – but damaged ships in the night call to each other.
“The line hadn’t just been crossed. It had disappeared completely. And never had my heart felt freer. Or more afraid.”
This series is different than her Mafia family novels, but no less intriguing. The characters are torn, damaged, but under it all, there is good and redemption. Bronte is that redemption for Drew. This novel can be read as a stand alone, but you really want to read the others in this series too. Trust me, the antics of rockstars is not to be missed.
“Just exist right now, and we’ll figure out the rest later.”
“Will we, though?” He shrugged.
“All you can do is give it today, and when you’re blessed with another day, give that day too. You give all your days over and over again, and before you know it—you’re living.”

I loved loved loved this book so much!! This was the first book I read in this series, I will definitely be going back to read the rest. A lot of times when I’ve read a stand-alone within a series and it’s not the first book I still feel like I’m missing something. That didn’t happen with this book! This book was sooooo funny!!! We all could use some Drew Amhurst in our lives! Definitely book boyfriend material! I want another book of Bronte and Drew that take place after the epilogue! I’m not going to lie I didn’t want this book to end! I want so much more….not in a bad way! I couldn’t put this book down!
Received an arc for an honest review
If you love sweet, sexy rockstar romances Surrender is the book for you. This is a story of love, family, and friendships and its the story of the single mothers who dedicated her entire life to her children and the sexy broken rockstar who helped her get her groove back. This was Bronte and Drew’s story and I enjoyed going on this journey with them and seeing their building romance. The back and fort banter between them was amusing and I loved the dynamics they had with the extended cast of secondary characters who all brought a level of hilarity to the story.
This story gave me all the feels. There were steamy moments, sweet moments, swoony moments and some emotional moments too. This was a lighthearted fun read and I would recommend it to all lovers of rockstar romance.
Rachel Van Dyken is another author I love! She brings us amazing stories and I fell for Surrender. The hotness to the sweetness. To being unsure and to being free. I could feel it all. Surrender had me from the very first page. The emotions that you wear on your sleeve will have you stop to just breath! I loved this book and the Seaside Picture series and I am dying for more!
Bronte a single mom of now almost grown children is trying to find herself when her high school rockstar crush offers a week together. I enjoyed the way Bronte and Drew connected at all levels. I enjoy the interactions between all the characters in this book. My favorite was the banter between Bronte teenage daughter and Drew. Another great read by Rachel Van Dyken

Sexy rock god! The Drew Amherst! This is a quick, easy read with an insta-love romance and the lust is sizzling. Drew as the living large, recovering addict is a rockstar deluxe. It took me awhile to warm up to him and his flippant, dirty talk. But he’s hid from his demons and what better way than a cool persona and a sexy smirk. I loved the premise of one week with a sexy rockstar teaching a single mom how to get her groove back after only being a mom for fourteen years. I’ve followed these rockstar stories of Adrenaline and AD2 and these guys are addicting along with their beautiful women. I’m distressed that this wasn’t one of my favorite of the series. I’ve been waiting for Drew’s story especially after Provoke about Drew’s protege and Bronte’s son, Braden. Bronte is a strong heroine as the single mom of three and Drew’s secret crush. But I didn’t really feel the connection between Drew and Bronte even with their hot chemistry and some aspects of the story seemed unrealistic. The celibacy was crazy. By the end my heart was melting and the epilogue was wonderful. For me the star of the story was Bronte’s youngest daughter, Amelia. I would love to see a story about her. Loved the interactions between the guys and the healing of Will and Drew’s relationship. Overall a terrific addition to this exciting rockstar series that can be read in a day. The writing will pull you in and the characters are fabulous. Loved the interactions between the guys and the healing of Will and Drew’s relationship. A sexy cherry on top of a fantastic rockstar series! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
A scorching hot summer read from Rachel Van Dyken! SURRENDER, ℎ ℎ ‘ , is live and on sale at your retailer of choice for just $2.99 (special limited release price).
Looking for a summer read that will leave you heated? Surrender, the new standalone rockstar romance from Rachel Van Dyken is just what you need!
A mature hero and heroine make Drew, and Bronte the type of characters I love to read. Throw in single Mom along with a hot rockstar, and this book gave me everything I wanted. It was so lovely to read a book where the couple wasn’t right out of college. These two have legit pasts and problems, which made it more relatable as the reader.
Surrender was my first Rachel Van Dyken book (I know gasp), but I can tell you it won’t be my last. So much love for these characters and their story!
Surrender is the finale in Rachel Van Dyken’s Seaside Pictures series, and the long-awaited, much-anticipated story of Drew Amhurst. It is written as a standalone title, but you really can’t go wrong reading the entire series. I’ve been an RVD fan for quite some time. If you read and/or follow my reviews, this is nothing new to you. And I’m a long-time fan for a reason. She has a fantastic talent for writing books that take hold of your emotions from the first chapter and dragging them on this crazy roller coaster ride to the end of the story. While there is a little bit of angst in this book, for the most part, the dialogue keeps it more upbeat. There are moments you will laugh out loud (group texts never fail to crack me up in this series!), and there are moments your heart breaks for Drew and Bronte.
Who will love this book: Contemporary romance and rockstar romance fans will swoon over Drew Amhurst. But if you’re looking for a really angsty book, this one isn’t for you, but I can recommend plenty of those by Rachel Van Dyken.
NICUnurse’s Rating: If you’re looking for an emotional, funny, and sexy beach read, Surrender is the book for you. It’s the perfect blend of all three of those. The witty banter keeps you from being emotionally wrung out, but it doesn’t detract from the emotional struggles Drew and Bronte are going through, either, as a couple and each of them separately. And the chemistry and sexual tension between these two characters is off the charts! I loved the build-up to their first time together. And the relationship between Drew and Bronte’s daughter was what cemented my love for this story. Somehow Drew knows how to be the perfect blend of friend and adult authority. Surrender answers all the questions about Drew and his relationship with his bandmates and wraps up the Seaside Pictures series perfectly without making it confusing to a reader that may not have read the other books in the series.
I give Surrender by Rachel Van Dyken 4.5 out of 5 stars!
There’s a lot to be said about this book. But overall? It surprised the heck of me, in a wonderful way! Such an amazing story, about overcome our past, or how appearances can be deceiving, or to believe in love. I really don’t know the intentions of the author and I’ll never know, but this book gave me hope. And I’ll tell you why.
First: the ages of the main couple Drew and Bronte, they are over 30, actually she is turning 40 and he is 3 years younger. And they are falling in love, making the best with what life gave to them and creating and transforming Bronte’s family in a new and absolutely amazing one. Since I’m about to turn 35 soon, and the pressure is only getting higher, their story brought happiness and hope.
The second thing that I loved is how the things and mistakes of the past were treated. Raise your hand who has never made a mistake? I certainly did and so Bronte and Drew. And the story showed the importance of acknowledge their mistakes, learn from them, grow better and fight as hard as possible to never fall in the same rabbit hole.
I loved Bronte’s children. Specially her daughter Amelia, from fighting her illness to her interactions with Drew. They were amazing together and their connection was instant. Their Not-Ryan issue was so funny. Also all of their Not-My-Dad, Not-My-Daughter, Not-Our-Family-(…), Not-My-Future-(…), it was suppose to be a joke, but deep down had so much meaning.
I loved their ending 100%, it was so beautiful and the epilogue was so special with her daughter Amelia and son Braden actions. If you can tell, I loved a lot! This is a must must read book!

a fourth opus in which we once again fall under the spell of Seaside and its colorful characters. Drew has an all-round charm and humor that made me fall in love. Bronte is flawlessly righteous, entirely dedicated to his family. This duo is crisp! Even if basically no surprise we take pleasure in discovering their history.

This is another amazing Seaside book! I absolutely love all these guys.
This is Drew and Braden’s mom, Bronte’s story.
Drew has a lot of demons. He’s gone through a lot and has put himself through hell. And Rehab a few times. He’s clean now. But he’s dealing with all the pain that he caused while he was using. And not just pain for himself, but the pain he caused his friends.
Bronte has really only been a single mom. She’s lost herself. She’s been a mom since she was sixteen, and now her kids are all basically grown and she’s coming up on her 40th birthday.
She needs to find herself again. Get her groove back.
What better way to get your groove back than to have the rockstar of your teenage dreams help you!
I loved Drew’s interactions with her kids, especially “not-my-dad”.
And that epilogue!
*5 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Drew and Bronte’s story. I really wasn’t sure how I would like this book, in terms of, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Drew. Only because of how he was mentioned in the previous book. I should know by now that RVD has the power to make you like any character and fall in love with them.
This was actually a pretty fast book to read, but it packed a punch the whole way through. I really enjoyed getting to know both Drew and Bronte, and uncover things about them both individually and together.
This was a really fun book, with some serious things thrown in as well. It was so much more than I expected and I loved it. Highly recommend.
