There’s a fine line between lust and hate.I don’t care that Drew Merritt spent the last year transforming himself from grungy slob to sexy playboy. With messy, dirty blond hair and gorgeous eyes, his looks aren’t the problem. His mouth is.And the stupid things that come out of it.But after an emergency strands us together, and he does his damnedest to take care of me… Let’s just say there’s one … care of me…
Let’s just say there’s one thing we don’t clash on.
And it doesn’t involve talking.
I’ve despised Drew since I met him years ago. One weekend can’t change us that much, can it?
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
Except he left me a little keepsake.
And in nine months, I’ll have a surprise for Portland’s most notorious player.

Hilariously funny and heartwarming, Surprise, Baby! is a winner!
If you’ve read this dynamic duo’s previous work All About the D, get ready for more hijinks, laughs, and sexy times. In this standalone, we see Drew again, in all his seemingly playboy glory, who meets the smart and sassy Kendall again. These two have sparks, but you don’t know if those sparks will ignite their passion, or ignite one of them on fire. When they get stranded in a remote cabin in the middle of a snowstorm, the passion takes over. However, trouble soon finds them, and when they find out they will expect a surprise in about nine months, more difficulties arise. Surprise, Baby! is a fun and easy read with great characters, intense chemistry, and I loved every word!
Gosh I loved Drew and Kendall. This one easily goes into my 2019 Fave Rom Coms. It’s fast paced, full of witty dialogue and jam packed with chemistry.
I really enjoyed book one in this series and am so happy we got more from this group of characters.
It’s a genuine LOL read and has fantastic side characters like Bumble Bee, (Drew’s grandma), Tristan & Shazam the crazy cat who add depth & extra fun to their story.
I’ve loved every book I’ve read by Lex Martin or Leslie McAdam. Their first collaboration, All About the D, was awesome, but I loved this book even more! Surprise, Baby was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was funny, sweet, addictive and a little emotional. I read until my eyes fell shut and that was already way past my bed time, but I didn’t care at all. The epilogue was the perfect and beautiful conclusion to Drew and Kendall’s love story. I loved Surprise, Baby so much!
I absolutely fell in love with Drew and Kendall. Drew has my heart. He was a player and always loved a good party, but Drew has changed a lot. He’s driven, rich, funny, caring, possessive and protective. Drew has always had a thing for Kendall and he was over the moon when something finally happened between them. He wants a chance with Kendall and he doesn’t give up easily.
Kendall is a fantastic woman! She’s driven, funny, loving, ambitious and caring. Kendall always dreamed of having her own business and she has one now. She works very hard to make it successful. Kendall never liked Drew, but one car ride and being snowed in can change a lot apparently. She really likes this new Drew. I adored Kendall and Drew together.
The secondary characters made this book complete. Drew’s grandmother is funny and sweet. I’m glad Drew has her in his life. I just adored their bond. Josh and Evie, from All About the D, appear sometimes and I loved that. They are just like I remembered them. They are amazing friends to Drew and Kendall. There are definitely some characters introduced in Surprise, Baby that I hope will have their own story one day.
Surprise, Baby is a fun, sweet romantic comedy and I enjoyed every minute of it!
The characters are fun, the writing is fantastic and the circumstances they find themselves in keep the story entertaining!
The history between Kendall and Drew has been complicated for sure, in that ‘I don’t really like you’ kind of way, but there is a fine line between love and hate as they will soon discover. Kendall sees Drew as an immature man whore and he sees her as a bit stuck up. People do change, however and sometimes perceptions are wrong, but life is unpredictable and is full of surprises for Kendall and Drew. They are definitely in for an interesting ride!
Kendall and Drew are like oil and water, but frequently have to mix because their best friends are married to each other. Kendall is career driven, owning her own company along with business partner Tristan, and is annoyed by Drew’s frivolous, playboy lifestyle. A serious health scare was the reality check Drew needed, though, and he has changed his ways – but the tabloids and his “friends” haven’t noticed – or believed – it. When Drew and Kendall are stranded together over Thanksgiving, though, they really get to know each other beyond the surface level and the fighting they always do.
I enjoyed this book. Drew and Kendall were so good for each other and made a good team. I liked their relationship a lot, once they stopped with the back and forth and accepted what everyone who knew them already knew – they were the perfect counterpart for each other. She helped him with his serious side, he helped her lighten up. But my favorite part of this book? Bee. Drew’s relationship with his Bumble Bee (grandmother) was so much like my relationship with my grandmother was before she passed, and it made my heart happy to read.
A lot happens in this book, too. The ending of the Thanksgiving getaway was hilarious and huge. The doctor’s visit was so fun. The eventful delivery. This book has a little bit of everything – heart, humor, drama, angst, sweetness, steaminess.
Having read All About the D, I had no idea how the authors were going to redeem Drew. None.
But they managed it!
Drew and Kendall’s story is full of sweet moments, reminders that things aren’t always what they seem, and admissions of being wrong on both their parts. This was a really fun read!
Drew and Kendall’s story is fun and entertaining from the word go, and the witty banter was just hilarious. This is a beautifully written story which is romantic, sweet, with secrets and is a steamy read, all which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented duo, whose work I recommend for all.
I freaking love Drew! I seriously disliked him in All About the D so it took me a while to get into the New Drew, just like Kendall. This was so freaking good. Hot as hell, funny, and romantic. I wish I could read it again like I was reading for the first time. Just getting to experience everything they did, explaining Drew’s past, etc.. Damn.. this was just so good.
Gah! Drew and Kendall were everything! I love an enemies to lovers story and this one wasn’t just amazing, it was absolutely hilarious!! These two had me either giggling or all out laughing throughout the whole book! Between their banter back and forth with each other, their swoony moments and their sexy times, I could not turn the pages fast enough! I plan to definitely read this book again very soon!! Loved it!!
Surprise, Baby by Lex Martin & Leslie McAdam was such a funny and charming enemies-to-lovers romance. Kendall and Drew do not get along and that is an understatement! When plans to wrong and they end up alone, unexpected sparks are flying, and they get closer than ever. Literally and I have to say I loved their chemistry and banter so much. And to their surprise, the one weekend together leaves long-lasting consequences!
Kendall was smart and successful. Drew was a playboy and irritating at times, but it seems he has gone through some changes for the better. Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam gave us a romance that was full of chemistry, laughs and a sweet story. I truly enjoyed the characters and their journey so much. This is a spin-off of All About the D by this duo and though I have not read it, I did not feel lost and am very excited to read it.
Read and reviewed for Reviews From the Heart.
Happy reading!
Absolutely loved this book! Enemies to Lovers has always been one of my favorite tropes to read. They have that all consuming fiery passion that explodes on the pages and let me just say, Drew did not disappoint in that department
I loved seeing how Drew was able to turn his life around and leave the “party boy” behind and try to make a new image for himself. Underneath all those layers, he really is the sweetest and can make you swoon!
**As I glance at KK steering her car, a pang of tenderness hits me, and I reach out and trace her jaw. She smiles against my palm, her eyes still on the road. I don’t care if I’m being sappy. She’s precious cargo, and she’s carrying precious cargo. It’s my job to make sure she’s safe and comfortable.
Kendall really is the perfect person for him. She compliments him in all the right ways. She’s not after his money or his image, she just likes Drew 2.0 for himself. She’s seen what’s under all those layers and knows his heart. Truly a beautiful story and loved every minute of it.
5 Star review of Surprise Baby by Lex Martin & Leslie McAdams
Why have I not Lex Martin Or Leslie McAdams before because I have to say that there was nothing that I did not love about this book? If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of reading these two authors writing together, then do yourself a favour and check them out.
I love frenemies to lovers stories and Surprise Baby ticked all the boxes for me. This was a fun, flirty, seriously romantic story that engaged me from the start. It also had it’s serious moments and Lex Martin and Leslie McAdams handle both the fun and the serious with equal amounts of skill.
Drew is a reformed party boy, who literally had no choice but to drastically change his lifestyle overnight or suffer the consequences. Whilst Kendall is an accomplished business woman with her own company. They both rub each other up the wrong way constantly; all the while being secretly attracted to each other.
When circumstances bring these two together you just know that sparks are going to explode and there may well be fireworks.
This is a book that you need to read for yourselves, I’m not going to say anymore for fear of spoiling your enjoyment. All I will say is that the writing was exceptional and I loved this book.
Hello Helloo talking about serious couple! Nothing was serious between Kendall Greer and Drew Merritt.. I mean from Enemies to Lovers.. these two birds had caused me some facial hurt since I laughed so much.
Surprise, Baby! was a fun fun romance.. Talking about taking rollercoaster.. these two were hopeless.. I love the vibe, the jokes were hillarious and memorable.. KenKen and Drew are a match to each other.. I enjoyed reading their story.. They will keep you occupied
I was excited when I heard Leslie and Lex were coming out with another book together. I loved All about The D. And then when I heard it was going to be Drew’s story I was even more excited. I wanted to learn more about the arrogant bestfriend. LOL!! And Leslie and Lex did not let me down.
I absolutely LOVED this book!!!!!!
This book was fun, flirty, sexy and emotional. Drew was nothing what I expected. He was so much more. He was fun, arrogant, sweet, and oh so sexy. And Kendall was strong, independent, and feisty. And the two of them together will have you laughing out loud, wanting to knock their heads together at times, will possibly have you shed a tear or two and have your heart racing a few times. The one liners in this book were so funny!!!!!
Once I started I couldn’t put it down. I hope that we get more books from these two authors. Because they write great stories together.
I loved how Drew has changed since the first book and how he continues to change. Kendall is amazing and #fierceAF! Together they were dynamic and I loved the entire story. So many shenanigans!
Sometimes when you get the enemies-to-lovers story you get grudges and misunderstanding and general unnecessary angst, but this book had just the right amount. Kendall and Drew acted like normal, well-rounded adults and I loved that they were kind of role models of how people should act in real life.
Kendall wants nothing to do with playboy Drew. Every time she has had to deal with him he is drunk/high and says stupid things. Unfortunately their best friends are married. A holiday invitation to their friend’s cabin leaves them stranded alone in a snow storm. Can they manage to find a way to entertain themselves?
This was my first book by either of these authors and what a great introduction. The banter between Kendell and Drew is so much fun. I loved the way Drew adored his Bee and would do anything for her. Even though not many people saw his responsible side, he wasn’t afraid to show it to those he cared for. The authors did a great job creating characters that I could fall for. Looking forward to more of this series.
Surprise, Baby! by Lex Martin & Leslie McAdam is the story of Drew and Kendall.
Drew and Kendall are oil and water…never mixing well together. When their friends set up a group vacation of sorts it ends up being just them after a storm. They were able to find something to do while waiting to get home but that is leaving Kendall with nine months to learn what their life is changing too. This was a funny, hot read! Loved it!
Surprise, Baby was a great read! Enemies to lovers romance is one of my favorites and this book did not disappoint. It was a funny, sweet and romantic read. I loved Drew and Kendall. They had amazing chemistry and scorching sexy scenes. I loved them together. I loved all the banter. Definitely recommend this!
This enemies to lovers romance was the perfect mix of hilarious banter, scandalously hot scenes and heart aching moments of vulnerability from both main characters. To say that Drew and Kendall started off on the wrong foot is an understatement – with Drew making an absolute drunken fool of himself in front of Kendall at their best friends wedding, solidly putting Drew in the vulgar, drunk, party boy category. And for the next two years, he does little to move himself out of this category, constantly proving he is not to be trusted. So the last thing Kendall ever expects to happen is for her to fall for the man she despises, finding out you can’t let past mistakes destroy what could be your happily ever after.
I love a good tale of redemption- who doesn’t want to see someone get their act together and turn their life around. With Drew, I never got an overwhelming sense of his playboy ways in this book just stories of his past trysts – he really redeems himself pretty quickly for me after the opening scene. With every turn of the page I was falling more in love with him, he was making my heart melt with how sweet he was with Kendall and how hard he was working to keep his new life on track. I mean you know a guy is special when at 30 years old he uses the Ninja Turtles wallet his Grandma buys him for Christmas! And Kendall, I absolutely loved her character, she was a hardworking, no-nonsense woman that wasn’t going to let a man ruin her business or her reputation. Yet she had moments of vulnerability that everyone has making her relatable with her insecurities and tendencies to bring up past wrongs.
The time Drew and Kendall spend trapped in the cabin were some of my favorite scenes, not only were they hilarious but also smoking hot and sexy. The banter had plenty of ball busting from Kendall and funny nicknames and random acts crazy from Drew- leading to some true laugh out loud moments for me. When the “surprise” part of the storyline happens – it adds vulnerability aspects for both characters and also additional moments of hilarity.
I would highly recommend this book- 5 stars for me!
This book ticked all my boxes I loved Drew much more than I ever expected to. What a transformation from the guy we met in All About The D.
Drew is quite the changed man don’t worry he’s still got the swagger and filthy mouth. Kendall has always looked at him as a bit of a slob but now she’s seeing him in a whole new light.
I found this alot of fun to read Drew’s thoughts cracked me up. Loved the whole fun vibe of this story.
