There’s a fine line between lust and hate.I don’t care that Drew Merritt spent the last year transforming himself from grungy slob to sexy playboy. With messy, dirty blond hair and gorgeous eyes, his looks aren’t the problem. His mouth is.And the stupid things that come out of it.But after an emergency strands us together, and he does his damnedest to take care of me… Let’s just say there’s one … care of me…
Let’s just say there’s one thing we don’t clash on.
And it doesn’t involve talking.
I’ve despised Drew since I met him years ago. One weekend can’t change us that much, can it?
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
Except he left me a little keepsake.
And in nine months, I’ll have a surprise for Portland’s most notorious player.

Surprise, Baby! by Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam is a stand alone, full length romance comedy with a few coross-overs to All About the D, Josh and Evie’s story.
Drew Merritt and Kendall Greer are like like fire and water, oil and vingear. They don’t fit, but together they’re incredible.
Drew is Portlands bad boy player, his behavior umm lets not talk about it and Kendall despises him, he’s her arch nemesis.
When a emergency brings them together everything’s about to change. They have a unique relationship, one that works for them. Surprise, Baby! is a story full of witty banter, insta attraction and bad behavior. It contains just the right amount of romance, comedy elements and witty bicker and banter to keep me on the edge of my seat. I give 4,5 stars.
When two of my favorite authors team up and co-write a book – yay.
Favorite Quote: ” I’m no prince. Never have been. But she makes me feel like I am. “
A sexy and fun enemies to lovers romance that made me laugh, sizzled with a TON of heat and had me flipping the pages until the very end!
Surprise, Baby was precisely what I was looking for. Entertaining, fun, witty, and so hot it was irresistible. I really enjoyed reading this book. It made me laugh and sigh and dream of an epic HEA! I adored these characters and thought they were just so wicked cool and fun.
Surprise, Baby gets a FUN AND ENTERTAINING FIVE DELECTABLE STARS!
If you’re looking for a good laugh and a healthy dose of emotion and truth, Kendall and Drew’s story will put you on the right path. So much laughter within the first couple of chapters that managed to hold throughout the entire book.
The build up of the characters was amazing and the story entertaining. The disdain and rawness, coupled with the comedic quality of their non-relationship pulls you in. Kendall and Drew have an interesting weekend with each other that showcases just how reformed a bad boy can be.
Taking a seemingly hopeless situation and making the most of it is what happens in this tale of frenemies turned lovers. Lex and Leslie will rock your world with all the love, hate, joy and sadness you experience reading their words.
Hundred Percent Pure entertainment. The hours I spent engrossed in Surprise, Baby by Lex Martin and Leslie Mcadam are some of the best time I had recently. This was extremely hilarious and exceptionally sweet with deep feelings. It was a true emotional rollercoaster and I loved every second.
Drew Meritt and Kendall Greer cannot be any more different in personality. Drew is the billionaire playboy who has lived his life to the fullest like it’s a big never ending party making monumental mistakes but never regretting it a bit. Until he has serious health related scare and changes his lifestyle slowly. But Kendall doesn’t know that. A smart, sassy and attractiveness independent woman, Kendall owns a PR firm and Drew is like his worst nightmare. They clash on everything and they can’t stand each other on the occasions where they have to meet as their best friends are married to each other. Now they are stranded in the mountains cabin during thanksgiving due to a snow storm. Alone. The hate gives away to attraction and they explore their body and minds. And things get messy. A felony charge. An accidental baby. The pregnancy hormones and insecurities of a misunderstood ex player. And many more.
I loved the funny flirty banter of the characters so much. My stomach is hurting so badly! The story explored all the stages of their relationship. They had to change and evolve for better. It was not an easy journey and the authors has written beautifully about it. I love the many adorable and drool worthy versions of Drew. The sexy trouble maker, the considerate and protective boyfriend, the vulnerable son, the smart businessman and the bedroom magician. All of it. And Kendall is perfect for him! They made some idiotic mistakes to hurt each other but that was necessary to make the story real. The ending made me cry and gave me goosebumps.
Surprise, baby! was about second chances and fighting for love to become better human beings. Lex Martin and Leslie Mcadam created an amazing story of love, passion and emotions. I laughed and cried like crazy. I was completely lost in the pages and became one with the characters. A stunning beautiful and perfect romantic comedy!
Received ARC for honest review
I loved everything about Surprise, Baby! This book is a standalone, but these characters were first introduced to us in All About the D and I have to say that I personally thought Drew had no redeeming qualities. Boy was I wrong and I don’t say that often just ask my husband…LOL!
Drew and Kendall met when their best friends started dating. The first time they met was a complete disaster and they basically have hated each other ever since. After getting stranded together for a weekend alone, things shifted between Drew and Kendall. She saw a whole new side to Drew, a side she really liked. However, Kendall was still skeptical of Drew 2.0.
I found it super swoony how Drew loved and cared for Kendall. However, these two were infuriating at times. Their lack of communication was so frustrating, but it made for good drama. Once they got on the same page, their relationship was something so special. I was captivated by this book from page 1. It is a story of forgiveness, second chances and best of all sweet, yet really steamy love! Oh and I had several good laugh out loud moments while reading this book.
I hope Lex Martin & Leslie McAdam team up again on future projects!
5 laugh out loud stars!!
Absolutely love Kendall and Drew! I laughed and even teared up a little, could not wipe the smile off my face!
Drew has such a warped sense of humor and omg I love it! As much as he had me smiling and totally swooning, I wanted to smack him right upside his head!
Kendall is strong, independent and sassy and has no time to waste on relationships. Her attraction to Drew is there, but is he worth the possible heartbreak?
These two were made for each other! And I rooted for them right from the start! Loved this book so damn hard!
Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam are the perfect team, a team not to be messed with! Their words will have you glued to your kindle and a smile on your face!
Drew and Kendall have this love/hate, friend/frenemies relationship because their best friends are married. Josh and Evie have planned a Thanksgiving get together that both Drew and Kendall are invited to. Josh has asked Drew to pick Kendall up because a snow storm is hitting the area hard…Things are about to change!! So Crazy Amazing <3 <3 I have just fallen in love with Drew, he is so Amazing!!!
I shouldn’t be surprised and in some ways I’m not by how exceptional this book is. It was a page turner right from the very first one! It’s a must read and I am pretty sure it’s going to be a must read more than once! I don’t know what I loved more, the anticipation of what was going to happen next or the little pin prick nails of feels (do wish there would have been a few extra antics with that crazy cuddler). Thank you ladies for such an awesome book!!!
It took me a while to get into this story. Once Kendall and Drew finally got together, I started liking it more. Then the book did a 5 1/2 month jump. It’s implied they’re going through a rough patch because of a lack of communication. No communication or miscommunication is a huge pet peeves of mine in romance. The humor is ok. It’s not offensive, just not for me.
Oh this book was just too good. So much humor. Drew is one of my most favorite male characters ever and Kendall was just perfection for him. From hate to love to some butt babies you can’t help but laugh your way through this book.
Entertaining, kept me reading late into the night.
This is my first book by these authors collaborating together and I am kicking myself that I waited this long to read a book written by these two together Surprise, Baby! was an outstanding enemies to lovers comedy, it was hilarious, fun and just an easy read, one that had me laughing my head off most the way through. Leslie McAdams and Lex Martin know how to keep you on your toes, they know how to keep your attention and the always create just funny, witty and crazy characters and they sure as hell know how to pack the heat. This book was off the charts kind of hot. Once I started it, I devoured the whole thing in one sitting. I haven’t always been into a rom-com, I usually go the darker side of romance but this blurb and these authors together, you can’t help but want to read it and with no doubt in my mind, I did enjoy it and it was a nice break from my normal reads, and its started making want to read even more of this sub-genre.
Highly recommend it!
5 Stars!
I’m not “surprised” by this book. Leslie and Lex together know how to write a great, entertaining book. I was trying to figure out who wrote which parts. Couldn’t figure it out! I love enemies to lovers books. This had a bit of everything, sweetness, hotness and humor. I hope to read lots more from these to writers!
When I first read AATD which is where we first meet Drew Merritt, I couldn’t stand him. He was a jackass. I’ve been waiting for Drew’s story for a while & it was sooo good! I kept an open mind hoping he would be redeemed. Well turns out I fell for him ! Turns out he has a soft spot after all! Lex Martin & Leslie McAdam write so incredibly well together! They never fail to make me laugh, giggle & of course snicker! I love their humor! This book gives you all the feels! If you love enemies to lovers/Rom Coms/Surprise Pregnancy, then one click this book today!
Loved this enemies to lovers follow up to All About the D! Drew is redeemed in Surprise Baby after a life altering event forces him to make some serious changes. Drew 2.0 is caring, thoughtful, witty and HOT and Kendall can’t resist. Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam are a great writing team – I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend.
Could this have been any better?! Lex is one of my top authors and adding one of my favorite guilty pleasure tropes???
It’s an epic perfect combo for me!!

Review:
Or not… In the Case of Surprise, Baby by bestselling authors Leslie MacAdam and Lex Martin. Surprise, Baby is a standalone contemporary romance that follows characters who first appear in All About the D. This is the perfect romance if you’re looking for a funny, sweet, seXXXy, and heartwarming book to cuddle up with. This story sucked me in so fast. I love both authors and it was so easy to jump on the blogger review team for Leslie and Lex. If you’ve never read either author, this is an excellent way to discover two authors as their collaborations are SPECTACULAR! You do not have to read All About the D to enjoy Surprise, Baby but I am one of those people that prefers to read my series books in order and that’s what I always recommend. Besides, I guarantee you that if you read one, you’ll be jumping all over the chance to read the second book, so just save yourself time now and start binge reading .
There are so many reasons that I loved Surprise, Baby. It’s a well written, entertaining romance that truly left me with warm fuzzies and a deep sigh of contentment when I finished reading. While I am not necessarily a huge fan of the surprise baby trope, there is no way I was passing up the chance to see what Leslie and Lex had in story for Drew and Kendall after their notoriously contentious relationship in All About the D. These two are ‘like Vaseline and sandpaper’ but it’s absolutely delicious reading their interactions because it’s straight up foreplay… And you know exactly what I am talking about! Each interaction between this pair amps up the heat until they’re simply a powder keg ready to blow. And when they get stuck in that snowpocalyse on Mount Hood?! It blows marvelously!!! The banter between Drew and Kendall is witty, driven by the pairs denial that they could possibly dip their toes into the well of attraction for the other! The book also falls into the enemies-to-lovers trope and that’s the real hook for me. I am a total Enemies-to-Lovers junkie. Surprise, Baby had me up late because I couldn’t put it down as I found it deliciously sexy and extremely entertaining. The pace is fast and consistent, you won’t find that it’s too slow or you loose interest. It’s also a dual POV romance so the characters are easy to connect to. And the plot is straight up fun!
Surprise, Baby is just one of those books that you can not miss! Grab your copy today and get to reading
QUOTES:
When will I ever learn that this guy is literally the last man on the planet I’ll ever be friends with? Because Drew Merritt is a PR nightmare.
—
I have no idea why Evie insists Kendall was so much fun growing up. That Debbie Downer’s got a stick so high up her ass, it’s lodged in her brain.
—
“Let me put it this way.” I tap on the table, rattling the mug in front of me. “It would have to be a cold day in hell for me to consider going out with Drew Merritt.”
—
“We both know my track record is abysmal. The longest intimate relationship I’ve ever had is with my hand. Left one, mostly. I’m way out of my league with you, and I have no idea what I’m getting myself into. I’ve never had a FWF. But if I mess this up tonight, I’ll never forgive myself.”
—
Right now, in this moment, I want to focus on the guy I’ve come to know on this trip. The one who worships my body. The one who indeed treats me like a princess. Not Portland’s most eligible bachel
—
I want to believe this was all a big mistake. That Drew didn’t steal a three-thousand-dollar bottle of wine from the cabin’s cellar for shits and giggles and pretend he bought it for me. Because if that’s a lie, what other lines did he feed me? I don’t know how you fake what we shared, but if it was all a façade, he’s downright maniacal.
—
After the intensity of everything that happened today and the weeks we’ve spent apart, I expect him to ravish me. To fuck me so hard, I can’t walk straight tomorrow. But the minute our bare bodies are completely pressed together—chest to chest, belly to belly, thigh to thigh— he pauses to kiss me so slowly, every part of me aches from the most luscious sort of pain. Because I feel cherished.
A steamy new enemies-to-lovers romance/romantic comedy!
This book snuck up on me with how adorable it was. I was ready for it to be a fun rom-com but it also delivered so much heart.
Drew is my absolute fave!!! I love that he’s trying to hard to be better for himself. Not for the girl, not for his family, but for him and his health. I loved how proud of himself he was when other acknowledged all the effort he’d put into making changes to his lifestyle. He’s a genuinely good guy and he’s finally getting to show it without the mask of drugs and alcohol.
I loved the friendships in this book so much. Both Drew and Kendall had amazing support in their friends and I was 100% there for it. I loved how Kendall’s a little bit uptight and Drew is playful and they balanced each other out so well.
This book was everything I needed in a vacation read. It made me laugh, it made me tear up. There was moments when I was in my hotel room reading and would just bust out laughing and there also moments where I’d be on a ferry hiding tears behind my sunnies. Overall, this is everything I wanted and so much more.
Drew and Kendall have a love hate relationship. They love to hate each other. When they get snowed in on a mountain the tables turn. Can these two actually get along? Will they ignite the sheets?
These two have a great romance. I really enjoyed this story! I had no clue there was a book before this one but will be reading that one soon.
