There’s a fine line between lust and hate.I don’t care that Drew Merritt spent the last year transforming himself from grungy slob to sexy playboy. With messy, dirty blond hair and gorgeous eyes, his looks aren’t the problem. His mouth is.And the stupid things that come out of it.But after an emergency strands us together, and he does his damnedest to take care of me… Let’s just say there’s one … care of me…
Let’s just say there’s one thing we don’t clash on.
And it doesn’t involve talking.
I’ve despised Drew since I met him years ago. One weekend can’t change us that much, can it?
Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.
Except he left me a little keepsake.
And in nine months, I’ll have a surprise for Portland’s most notorious player.

I LOVE this book so much!!!! Drew is a hilarious character you can’t help but love and the way these two come together is so damn sweet. If you want to laugh and swoon repeatedly, and then sigh with satisfaction the end, make sure you pick up a copy from your favorite retailer. I PROMISE you’ll love it!!
Kendall Greer and Andrew or Drew Merritt have not seen eye to eye for the previous two and a half years so when they unexpectedly find themselves in a situation alone it is a tad awkward, at first. Things certainly change though!
The humour in this story is fabulous and of particular enjoyment is how the characters laugh at themselves as well. Some great expressions are used to explain things that have you chuckling aloud. The fun banter between the characters is another humorous aspect. The kitten humour’s an added bonus, so real you can see it happening but so funny too. I am impressed with the smoothness more serious topics are woven into the story by these authors as well, never making them huge beacon issues but getting points across perfectly.
Terrific character and setting descriptions make it super easy to visualise the story as it unfolds. It’s easy to like the lead characters with their flirty manner but also their very ‘realness’ too. These authors really know how to stink up the place with some snooty parents as well! Wow, are these two perfectly described.
A thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable story I have no hesitation recommending this easy to read, fast paced book to everyone.
Wow! Where has this author been all my life!
I. Loved. This.
Exceptionally well written!
Characters that are so real and lovable!
Banter. Heat. Great plot!
This was awesome!
Kendall is an awesome independent chic. Who has zero tolerance for her BFF’s husbands best friend.
Drew used to be a serious playboy!! Some serious stuff causes him to strengthen unbeknownst to Kendall!!
Psssstttt… there may be a enemies to lovers spin on this accidental pregnancy!
Lex Martin
This was such a refreshingly fun listen!! I listened to it on Audible with my ultimate favorite Narrators, Jacob Morgan and Muffy Newtown.
Frenemies romance 🙂 Drew a gorgeous playboy, and beautiful Kendall an independent, confident PR lady. Her best friend’s husband is Drew’s best friend. So, They often end up seeing each. But, in spite of their banter, there is an attraction.
Then comes the invitation from their best friends to a cabin in Mt. Hood, the famous and for me, beloved Mount Hood! For Thanksgiving weekend. They end up alone in a cozy cabin, but with no electricity!! Things get really hot and heavy, and then a series of unfortunate events happen!
I highly recommend this book. The story line is sexy, witty, and romantic. Just like in life, they have their ups and downs, it was fun wondering where they would end up!
Love these Authors, this was mt first from them, definitely not my last. Also, this story has an Epilogue, and I love Eilogue’s!
I just love Kendall & Drew! The story flowed really well and I love the banter between the two. The story was witty and entertaining. I liked the path Drew lead and how he overcame so much, which definitely added to the story. Their chemistry was hot and steamy and left you wanting more. Great book!
Steamy new enemies-to-lovers romance/standalone romantic comedy
This book was fraking awesome!
You know those books that you read non-stop from start to finish, abandoning all responsibilities, chores, and personal relationships?
Yep. This was definitely one of those.
I loved everything about this book and am definitely planning on reading it again really soon.
It’s official! Lex and Leslie can’t put a foot wrong in delivering the perfect blend of Rom-com, enemies-to-lovers, at-times-angsty, downright sexy, lovefest that is Surprise, Baby!
I’ve had quite the impatient wait for Drew’s story since thoroughly devouring Martin and McAdam’s All About the D; Josh and Evie’s story.
It’s fair to say I was a huge fan of their story, given I gifted several copies to my book loving friends!
But it’s been the promise of Drew “Demerit” Merritt that I’d been longing for.
This obnoxious, unapologetic, hard partying playboy wouldn’t be everybody’s idea of a hero, but I still loved his loutish ways and knew there was more than met the eye when it came to Drew, and there was more than a good reason for his rebel behaviour.
And he doesn’t disappoint in his transformation into the soft hearted, still fun loving but responsible and determined lover who is not going to back down in his pursuit of perhaps his harshest critic, Kendall Greer.
The clever banter between these two is beautifully balanced with tender moments, hot-as-Hades action between the sheets, angsty misunderstandings and swoon worthy reconnections made perfect with some fabulous side characters; most notably Drew’s adorable grandma Bee, making this an absolute 5 star read for me!
I highly recommend this story and can guarantee my Book Besties will be getting treated to some more Lex and Leslie brilliance in their Christmas stockings again this year!
A witty, entertaining, and heartwarming journey to go on with Drew and Kendall. This enemies-to-lovers story was fantastic. This was more about actually growing up, getting their acts together. The compassion, tenderness, and unconditional friendship/love was absolutely adorable. I enjoyed this book.
I don’t care that Drew Merritt spent the last year transforming himself from grungy slob to sexy playboy. With messy, dirty blond hair and gorgeous eyes, his looks aren’t the problem. His mouth is. This was a really sweet read, the characters were opposites attract that form a close relationship and build upon it. The sex was hot and they story line was lovely and engaging.
While this wasn’t the second installment I was expecting it was still a good read. I totally didn’t expect for the reason for Drew’s weight loss though. I’ll still check out this co-authored books.
I couldn’t get enough of this book. Great story with some complicated characters. “Butt Baby” best term ever!!! I laughed and I cried throughout this book. It is amazing what happens when lines are crossed and assumptions are made. Highly recommend this book and this author.
I give this a 4.5*
I loved Drew and Kendall’s story. This is an enemies to lovers romance. Drew really redeems himself from how he was in All About The D. I fell for Drew 2.0. This was emotional, sweet, heartwarming and funny story. Love the banter between these two and how in the beginning, Drew loved pushing Kendall’s buttons because it turned him on. The chemistry between these two are explosive. I enjoyed reading this beginning to end.
Such a quick, fun read! I love, love, loved it! I thought Drew Merritt was irredeemable but Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam quickly proved me wrong. He’s sweet, charming and the epitome of sexy. That man is everything I want in a book boyfriend and I’m totally jealous of Kendall for getting him but someone has to have him, so it may as well be her.
4.5 Stars
Once again Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam did not disappoint. Surprise, Baby! is an emotional and sweet enemies to lovers romance.
I adored Kendall and Drew. Kendall is a hardworking, strong, independent woman, and driven to succeed in her chosen path of PR management. Drew was quite a surprise, he’s much more than meets the eye and very different to the character we met in All About the D! He’s a reformed player and can be incredibly sweet, charming and funny!
I love the banter this pair shares is not only fun and flirtatious, but witty and snarky as well.
If you love a romance with heat, heart and humor I highly recommend Surprise, Baby!
I love Lex Martin and new to Leslie McAdams, but I wasn’t sure that I was going to like Surprise, Baby! Drew’s mouth really bugged me at the beginning of this book, but I am happy to say that I loved it! There were parts I laughed out loud, and there were parts I was bawling, but the entire story is perfect! Five Stars are not enough for me!
Good to see Drew grew up and realised he had to adjust his party lifestyle. Him and Kendall work in an opposites attract relationship. Great to see the in laws on board at the end.
This was the first book i read by the author. And i really enjoyed it. It was funny had great banter between the characters and the story line was believable . Enemies to friends to lovers to marriage and babies. It was a very entertaining read
Surprise, Baby! by Lex Martin and Leslie McAdam is an enemies to lovers, romantic comedy told in dual POV. It is a companion novel to All About the D and can be read as a standalone.
When their best friends introduce them, Kendall and Drew do not hit it off at all. He’s drunk and offends her, making a terrible first impression. From that moment forward, Drew goes out of his way to irritate and push Kendall’s buttons whenever possible.
A couple of years have passed and Drew has cleaned up his act. He’s no longer the reckless party boy that he used to be. Kendall still despises him and has gone out of her way to avoid him over the years. They both have agreed to spend Thanksgiving with their best friends, Josh and Evie, at their newly renovated vacation cabin. Due to a winter storm, Drew and Kendall end up carpooling together to the cabin.
When the severity of the storm increases, they end up spending the holiday alone together without any electricity. Sparks fly and they find themselves getting along very well. Despite the lack of electricity, things get very hot in that cabin. The unexpected result is a surprise pregnancy, crazy legal issues, and public scandal. Can Drew and Kendall make it past these obstacles and find love on the other side?
I loved Kendall and Drew. They were both fantastic characters that were very likeable and relatable. Their dialogue was witty and fun. Their chemistry was off the charts – scorching hot! The story was hilarious, sexy, endearing, heartwarming, and romantic. I absolutely loved it!
I loved this book! Seriously, if you want to laugh out loud and cry within the same few pages read this book! It will bring out all the feels and show you how important communication is.
