A new STANDALONE romance from New York Times bestselling author Jana Aston Have you ever set out to have a one night stand with a sexy stranger? No? I’m the only one?Just kidding, I would never. Ever. Not usually. But then I figured, why not? My entire life I’ve been good and it’s gotten me nowhere. No job. No apartment. No boyfriend. I’m owed a little fun, aren’t I? A reward for being good.Sure, … a little fun, aren’t I? A reward for being good.
Sure, a new pair of shoes would be more appropriate, but Mr. Sexy Stranger is more appealing. And when he speaks—in that British accent—it’s a done deal. Every American woman has a hot British guy fantasy. Well, most do. I haven’t taken a poll or anything, but I’m pretty sure it’s a fact.
Except…
You know that saying about best-laid plans?
Good, because I don’t either, but I assume they go awry.
Like my one night stand…

Laughing out loud in the gym while reading this book – didn’t know the laugh was coming, but I didn’t care – Rose/Daisy/Violet is a blast, and has no game ….snicker. Poor Jennings just didn’t see this one coming, and coming, and … Great read.
Overall it’s a well written book, and I would like to check other books from this author. The lower rating is due is due to how incredibly annoying the heroine is. Violet’s inner monologue is on serious overdrive and I just want to reach from the book and slap her. Her inner monologue also repeated itself quite a bit, which made the book a little longer than necessary. She seemed a little ditzy sometimes, so I’m going with the idea of her being book smart and not street smart. I approved of her choices towards the end where she did what she wanted, you’ll see when you get there. The hero, Jennings, was typical. He wasn’t too alpha, comes with a sexy British accent? and has a couple of his own secrets. The author’s use of names of streets and places in Philadelphia was accurate. I can’t help, but wonder if she’s familiar with the area.
Loved it! British heroes are my kryponite!
My first thought as I began listening was that I wished I had the guts to do what Violet did. Hey, just realized this is two audiobooks in a row that the main character was named Violet! Although in this story, she had to go by the name Daisy, because she was pretending to be her twin. I did get a little annoyed at times when there were too many chapters from the same character. I get why it’s done, it adds the drama/suspense for knowing what the other character is thinking, but sometimes I just need/miss the other character’s viewpoint! As the story went and we learned just how awesome Jennings was in bed, I couldn’t help but compare to my own experiences and thought about who was that for me. Now, I did agree with her sister Daisy about some things, like carrot cake, yuck! This was one that I feel like neither of their secrets were bad enough to make the other upset when the learned them. But the way that Jennings kind of connected the dots and the assumptions he made based on seeing something out of context at the end, I can understand his being upset. In the end though, we got more chapters from his point of view, and when he realized she was a twin, I’m glad that helped him see that her secret wasn’t what he would think. Loved so much about this. I did want to strangle the author though for how she left us off at the end of one chapter with Jennings. I couldn’t believe when we joined him again towards the end that she’d done that to us! One other thing to share, there is a quote that really hit me, really resounded with me: Prepare for the inevitable or hold out hope. That is how I feel about my love life. I’ve kind of just given up and realized I’ll be alone for my whole life. Done holding out hope. Now getting any love and romance from the books I read.
Glad to hear there is going to be a book for Daisy too!
If you like hot British men, with hot British accents, and amazing skills for a woman’s body then this is a book for you.
Jennings is AMAZING. Funny, skilled, loving, and all around hot. Violet/Daisy/Rose is quirky, funny, extremely scared of getting caught.
I will admit that when I read the blurb I was apprehensive b/c I read it that Violet has Daisy impersonate her with Jennings and I didn’t like the idea of “cheating”. But I F’love Jana’s books and wanted to give this a go. My other problem was that I gave it a go while on a cross country flight. I am sure my airplane seat mates were reading over my shoulder and those sexy time scenes were hot. I’ve never been embarrassed about what I read, but I was a tab embarrassed that they might be reading along with me. Then add in the trying NOT to squirm in my seat and well it made long flights longer.
Ok back to the story. There was a part where I wanted it to play out differently. I wanted Daisy at the door not George. I wanted that to be the reveal. But the way Jana had it play out was so cute. I do also wish Jennings would have made Violet squirm a bit. F’loved the epilogue.
I loved how Jana had Jennings using “British” words and Violet using “English” words. It made it feel so much more authentic. I’ve read other books with a British male that never used British words. Kinda ruined the magic.
Sure Thing is a fun (and really funny) RomCom. When Violet decides to shake her life up, life shakes back and she finds herself getting more and more tangled up.
I’m a sure thing,” I tell him with a small shrug while shifting my eyes away then back.
“Are you?” The amusement on his face is clear.
No. I’m not a sure thing. I’ve never been a sure thing. But I’ve never been Rose before either, so to hell with it——tonight I am.”
The story is at times laugh out loud funny, but still sweet and romantic. Violet is a fun and quirky heroine and Jana Aston gives us an awesome hero to swoon and fall in love with.
“I’ve got his briefs past his ass. His cock just thumped onto my stomach. Like, if my stomach was capable of emitting a grunt from the contact, it would. Hell, yes. Keep calm and carry on. God save the Queen. Think of England. I let a giggle loose as he reaches for the condom.”
Sure Thing was so much fun to listen to. I had already read this book and loved it so much that I couldn’t wait to listen to the audiobook.
Funny is hard. Either you are or you aren’t. It’s not something you can practice or learn. Writing funny is even harder. Pulling characters out of the air and putting words in their mouths is never easy and making them funny without being ridiculous or mean-spirited can be a nightmare for a writer.
But that’s never the case with Jana Aston. She has a deft hand when it comes to making us laugh while we are falling in love. Reading a Jana Aston book always means a permagrin and ruined panties.
The Sure Thing delivers on all of those counts. Violet and Jennings a classic Aston. They meet under slightly ridiculous, outrageous circumstances. All right, really ridiculous circumstances, complete with a twins switch, an undercover boss, and a bus load of touring seniors. Violet is a responsible twin. The rule follower. Always working hard and doing the right thing. But all it gets her is sleeping on her sister’s couch – no home, no job, no boyfriend. When her twin, Daisy, asks her to switch and cover her job as a tour guide for week, Violet very reluctantly agrees. Even though it has disaster written all over it. After all, Daisy is taking care of her. But it also means she has to be Daisy. The fun one. The rule breaker. The life of the party. Add “people pleaser” to Violet’s list.
So she finds herself leading a bus tour exploring the historical highlights colonial America, full of seniors and one fuck hot Brit named Jennings who is traveling with his grandmother, and her one night stand she picked up in the hotel bar the night before. After all, if she’s going to be Daisy for work why not play like Daisy.
Jennings is mouthy and sardonic and sexy as hell. He’s Jana Aston’s best hero yet. Sorry Boyd. It’s the accent. Wrily funny and a bit bemused by the fact that this crazy, contradictory, slightly nutty tour guide has him thinking about settling down after a few short days. She, on the other hand, thinks he sponging off his Nan. Wrong. He owns the company and is her boss’ boss’ boss’ boss.
Make no mistake, this is not The Parent Trap all grown up. Even all grown up – I doubt the Parent Trap would be this hot. In Jana land, there’s always hope for all the quirky, neurotic girls. In Jana land the hot guys love them for their eccentricities and are amazing in bed and out. Really, really amazing. In Jana land, there’s always anal. And it’s no different this time with Jennings. Violet is the worst liar in the world yet Jennings is willing to suspend his disbelief, flirting and finally courting her as they fall in love. And it wouldn’t be a Jana Aston story unless the heroine has a running inner monologue that has you laughing out loud and rolling your eyes 90% of the time.
I love that I can pick up Jana Aston story and know that I can escape into an amazing, funny, sweet adventure that will touch my heart, make me laugh out loud and make me fall in love with love again. You need to meet Jennings and his oh so proper f***. Seriously.
4.5 She’s Real Stars
I’m a sucker for all things Jana Aston. She stole my loyalty when she gave us that rom-com about the sexy gynecologist. Then she just kept going with the sexy, older men and I haven’t looked back.
Well, Sure Thing is no exception to this ‘haven’t looked back’ thing I have going with Jana. And Jennings? Well, what’s not to love about a sexy, older man who is British?
Nothing, by the way. Absolutely nothing.
I fell in love with Violet first. She is cute and quirky and fun. She’s likable. I want to be friends with her. This is probably one of my favorite things about Jana’s characters–they’re likable. And I wish I knew them all. I wish I could meet up and have lunch with them. Especially Violet. Probably because she’s got that hot British guy on her arm and I’d like a hot British guy. Because….well, British. And hot. And British.
“How do you want to fuck? Soft or hard? Fast or slow? Dirty or dirty?”
The answer is ‘yes, please!’ in case you’re curious. Jennings thinks so, too. And said in that accent? Oh, where’s the audio for this book? I need it.
“Knees, love. I want to feel your warm, wet mouth wrapped around me.”
Why does that sound so hot?
Oh, right. The accent. That’ll do it. I’m with Violet on this one, the accent makes smart women dumb. At least it would me. Let’s face it, Jana is a go-to favorite, an automatic one-click, my favorite rom-com author. In fact, she’s almost my only rom-com author. I can’t wait to see what she gives us next (I’m hoping for Daisy, Rhys, or even Canon)!!!
When she remembers this night it shouldn’t be with another woman’s name on my lips. And she will remember this night.
Amazing read! This story is fun, flirty, hilarious and oh so sexy. I highly recommend this book. I also recommend the audiobook the narration is off the charts!
I enjoyed this book so much! Jana Aston always managed to crack me up. The ending’s a bit rushed, though. Look forward to read more.
Jennings is sexy and romantic and !! Violet, aka “Daisy” impersonator, is adorably awkward and sweet and completely head over heels for Jennings. Truth be told, he’s British and she’s a sure thing.
These two have chemistry in spades. But both are withholding truths about themselves all the while exposing their true feelings and having a sinfully hot week-long fling.
Their lives intersect again and despite their secrets and mistakes, romance abounds in London. Sweet and sexy and I loved it!
I adore every word Jana Aston writes. I was instantly hooked with her 1st book, Wrong. Gah. I have stalked her shamelessly and bought every book and audiobook to match since. Huge Fan!
Sure Thing is another top pick for me. I can’t believe I have had this book sitting on my kindle since it’s release and just finally tuned out the world on New Years Day. I enjoyed the hell out of every beautifully articulated paragraph of this fantastic, witty, hilarious and sexy story. I sat reading with the goofiest grin on my face because I loved everything from start to finish!
I got such a kick out of Daisy. She’s quirky and real. Funny and sweet. Her internal dialogue is the absolute best. Her attempt at deception is even funnier.
Jennings…where do I even start with his sexy, British delicious-ness. He is amused and intrigued immediately. His strong attraction to Daisy is so endearing. I was rooting for Jennings from the start.
Everything about the way this story unfolds is utter perfection. Right down to their reunion. I have never spent a more enjoyable holiday reading as I did this time. Great memory for me.
If you’re on the fence about trying out one of Jana’s books – DO IT!
OMG! Jana Aston is the best when it comes to writing romantic comedies, she will have you choking on laughter (literally) with this book. Violet was a great character with absolutely no game but that’s what made her so awesome. Jennings was just so…British…I loved him and the instant and intense connection between Violet and Jennings they were a great mix.
Violet does something she never does and has a one-night stand with Jennings and gives him a fake name because she thinks he gave her a fake name and then she ends up switching places with her twin sister and Jennings happens to be on the tour so she has to keep up the charade with the fake name thing and the shenanigans that ensue are just great. This book would make a great movie.
I love all of Jana Aston’s books and can’t wait for whatever she has next.
OMG!!! I L.O.V.E.D. Sure Thing. I laughed and laughed the entire time. Great characters! Great Story! This is a must read for sure.
