From USA Today Bestselling author, the second book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team SeriesIf you don’t love, you can’t get hurt…Nick KeplerOne thing my childhood taught me was never show my emotions. Don’t make memories. Don’t count on other people. Don’t hope for the best. All that changed when I was adopted by Ryan and Whitney Kepler. Begrudgingly I let them into my life, along …
Begrudgingly I let them into my life, along with my new sister and a best friend I would lay down my life for. But giving up my heart and accepting love in return from Kelsea Harrison? It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to do.
And the truth is? I’m not sure if I’m that strong.
Kelsea Harrison
From the very moment I met Nick Kepler I knew he would be the love of my life. Problem is I haven’t been able to convince him of that yet.
When our best friends get married, Nick and I spend a drunken night letting our walls down and losing all our inhibitions. In one moment I’m given everything I ever wanted. Then, in the blink of an eye it’s taken away from me.
The question is, can I be strong for the both of us?
The answer? I have to be.

Kelsea has been in love with Nick for a long time, but Nick is still dealing with issues from his childhood and was keeping Kelsea at a distance.
Kelsea is at his side when he comes in to contact with Darren, a child that is in a similar situation that Nick was in when he was a child.
They work together to get Darren out of the harmful situation that he was and in the end, Nick realizes that he is deserving of a HEA.
Another great read from Laramie
I really loved the first book in the series but it really just got me excited about Nick and Kelsea’s story and it did not disappoint. This story really takes you on an emotional journey of two characters figuring out what it means to love someone else unconditionally. Nick deals with feeling like he isn’t good enough or even worth loving. kelsea struggles with hanging on to her hope for her and Nick.
What neither one of them realize is that sometimes fate doesn’t give you time to be ready when it throws you a curve ball and boy did fate throw one at these two.
This book deals with issues that are very prominent and realistic. I laughed, cried and read this book in a matter of hours. This is definitely a must read!
This book is about Nick and Kelsea but we meet also some of our old friends too. I really liked this book and it was like coming home to your old and new friends.
*ARC for honest review*
I’ve stopped and started this review a few times, this was an emotional read for me! I’ve wanted Nick’s story since reading about him in the MTF series. If you haven’t read that series you can still read and enjoy this book but I highly recommend you read the MTF first !! Nicks childhood broke my heart, and although he was adopted into a loving home, he’s still suffering the side effects of an abusive childhood. Kelsey has loved nick since they were kids and he was adopted by her best friends family. One feels unworthy of the others love and one is a fixer down to her core, throw in a child who’s in an almost identical situation that nick was as a child and needs a loving home … grab your tissues ladies and a bottle of wine and jump in, you won’t be sorry !! LB – Kudos Woman
Finally we get Nick’s story, been dying to read this one. Poor Nick he has been thru so much in his childhood, and get seem to get passed it. Kelsea has wanted Nick for such a long time, she just needs to break past his wall he has up and help him thru his tough moments. Loved these two, both such great characters, both deserve an hea of their own.
Suppression is a top-notch novel that shows the healing power of love. Nick and Kelsea have a powerful love that transforms lives.
Nick has always been the boy from the wrong side of the tracks, never good enough to be loved. Being rescued by a police officer and made part of his family, Nick will never forget the abusive beginnings that shaped him into the man he is today. Unable to stomach any memories from his past, Nick tries to out run his feelings for Kelsea, she’s been pushing all of the right buttons to make him want a relationship.
Kelsea has always been in love with Nick for as long as she can remember. He was and still is the one, getting him to realize he is a good, kind, lovable man with a heart of gold. Kelsea jumps right in when Nick needs her, making an instant family to provide shelter for an abused child. Leaning on her best friend for support Kelsea slowly treads in the deep water of Nick Kepler.
Nick and Kelsea could have wrote the book on chemistry. The sparks fly whenever they are close, each one wanting every ounce of the other. To watch them grow as a couple and as individuals was so satisfying, from broken children to family whose love has no bounds. All of our favorite past couples make small appearances throughout the novel some more than most, still great well developed characters that hold all their charms and charisma from previous novels. To call this novel an emotional roller coaster would be a huge understatement. It will trigger emotion from happiness, love, anger, hatred and satisfaction. Ms. Briscoe’s work continues to amaze me, it pulls readers in and leaves us grasping for the more. Suppression is a top favorite of mine and I will highly recommend it to any romance readers.
This is another great story by Laramie Briscoe, where we have the opportunity to learn more about Nick Kepler and Kelsea Harrison, and get a chance to see the characters from Laurel Springs again.
Nick had a difficult childhood, but when he was adopted by Ryan and Whitney Kepler, his life changed for the better and he had good opportunities in life.
Kelsea has loved Nick since childhood, but due to his past, she never thought they would really have a chance together.
After Stella and Ransom’s wedding, Nick and Kelsea spend a night together, letting the walls fall and taking advantage of the moment.
When an unexpected event brings a reminder of Nick’s past, he’s afraid to give the relationship with Kelsea a chance, but when they both decide they want to make a difference, no one holds those two apart.
I loved the characters and their stories, Darren is very interesting as well. I highly recommend the reading.
Laramie has the gift of writing stories with so much emotion and all the feels. She writes alpha swoon worthy men and women who challenge them each in their own way. This book is no different in that respect but it takes it beyond in the emotion department. She has you laughing, crying, and shouting at your book. It’s a definite must read! Warning- have tissues on hand!
I adored Nick and Kelsea separately and together! Kelsea has been in love with Nick for a while. Nick is not oblivious to her but because of his past he feels not good enough and deserving of her. Throw in a child who is currently experiencing a childhood most familiar to Nick’s and you have the recipe of a lifetime.
It was great to see the families of the characters pop in. All in, this a good story that I am glad not to have missed!
Nick and Kelsea are a wonderful couple who have been through so much since they grew up together.
She has always loved him.
He didn’t think he was good enough for her.
They have sex. FINALLY!
He avoids her for a week until she texts she doesn’t want to lose her friend.
Then he needs her help to help someone else.
This is the turning point in this story.
While I really enjoyed this one, I did feel it was a bit tame for Laramie’s usual stories. I was expecting a little something more. Maybe I just have her on too high of a pedestal. Ha! I guess I just expected a little more give and pull especially from Nick.
This is book 2 in the series, but can be read on its own. I do recommend reading all prior stories first though so you get the entire picture. Just my opinion.
4 Stars
Suppression is book two in the Laurel Springs EMT series and is Nick and Kelsea’s story. Nick is the ultimate broken hero and my favorite kind. The man is surrounded by true love in the form of his adoptive parents and his sister and best friend, but still feels completely unworthy of being loved. Kelsea has been in love with Nick forever, and after their one night together, she’s more determined than ever to not give up on the idea of them. She’s determined to be strong enough for both of them and be there for him now more than ever. Watching Nick give in and finally believe he’s worthy of the love that he and Kelsea have hit me in all the feels. Great read! Pick it up today.

Yes and Thank You! Suppression just hits all the points for me. The steamy and stolen moments between Nick and Kelsea. The yearning that you can feel down to your toes! These two had the chemistry that made the room feel too warm. You have the angst and build up of the slow burn. Then you are twisted with doubt because of Nick. You have no clue how their story will start or end.
Suppression is HOT! I could not take myself away from this book. I have been following Laramie’s books with these series and it builds upon each other. I love the men of Laurel Springs and growing with the characters. I say it all the time and I cannot help it. Bit these forks feel like family. I hold them near and dear to my heart. If you have been following along from the beginning, that is okay. You still need to start somewhere and Suppression will not disappoint!
Ever since we got a glimpse of Nick and Kelsea’s story in Ransom’s book….I knew that I wanted more. Let me tell you it was so worth the wait. Kelsea has loved Nick for what seems like forever. She knows that if he gives into the connection that they undeniably share that it could be the best thing that ever happened to them both. She fears that she will never get the future she so desperately wants with Nick but one thing she will never do is give up on the possibility of them. Nick hasn’t had the easiest time of things. His past still haunts him to this day. He is forever grateful that Ryan and Whitney did what they did for him but his past still has a stranglehold on him. He has a hard time letting people in and doesn’t feel that he is worthy of someone caring and loving him like him….especially Kelsea. He can’t no longer fight what he feels for Kelsea and gives into the attraction. Can Nick let go of his past to embrace his future with Kelsea? I loved this book so much and I would highly recommend it to all. I was hooked from beginning to end and hated to see it end. I can’t wait to see what is in store next for the LSERT series….well done!!!!!
I have been anticipating Nick and Kelsea’s story for awhile. Nick is a stubborn and complex man. He has deep emotional scares from the horrible childhood he endured before the Kepler’s adopted him. Nick is a expert at keeping people at a arms length. However Nick has meet his match in Kelsea. Kelsea is just as stubborn and is ready to fight for Nick.
The chemistry between Nick and Kelsea is off the charts. They both are exactly what the other needs. They way they both take care of each other is touching.
I enjoy stories told by both points of view so we get the inner workings of the two characters. The storyline is realistic regarding friends that become lovers. Witty banter. Sweet moments. Edge of your seat moments and a heartwarming ending.
Im probably going to be the minority here but this was my least favorite out of the LSERT and MSTF series. This book took me the longest to read because I couldnt stay focused on it at the beginning. No matter how hard I tried I just kept putting it down, but I persevered and I’m so glad I did. For me the last half of the book was the best. I that’s where I found myself really liking the characters, and the most character growth was.
Now not only did I have an issue keeping interest in this book, but it was just like all of the of books. I dont want to spoil it, but if you’ve read any of ther other two series then you know how this books going to go. I was really hoping to see something different in Suppression. I had really been looking forward to this one, maybe I’ll like the next one better.
Overall I’d give this book 3.5 stars I did enjoy it, but for me it wasnt my favorite, still a sweet story though.
Kindly received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow, that’s all I can say. Once I started book I couldn’t put it down. I always wondered how Nick coped with his past. This book broke my heart, but also pieced it together again.
I loved Nick and Kelsea, they was there for each other. And Kelsea never gave up.
I highly recommend this book.
I received a review copy of the book before release for an honest review.
This is a great addition to the Laurel Springs Series. It is book 2 in the series about the 2nd generation and I absolutely love it. It features the kids of a group of cop type friends and Nick is the adopted son of Ryan and Whitney (I have not read their book) and Kelsea is the heroine and she is the daughter of Ryan’s friend and partner on the police force.
Kelsea has loved Nick for years and he knows but he has issues from his youth that makes him think he is bad news for Kelsea. This is the story of K who breaks down his walls and get him to let her in.
It is also a story about foster kids and adoption and how much they have to overcome as they grow up, even if they are adopted. Its a beautifully written story that was more realistic of adoption stories than I have read before.
Suppression by Laramie Briscoe is book 2 in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series. This series is a spinoff. I am not going to lie , I did get confused in some places because I didn’t know who is whose kid and such. But don’t worry, the author has a fix for that.
This is Kelsea and Nick’s story. Kelsea has been in love with Nick for years. Yet Nick has refused to let himself fall into any relationships due to his past which go back to his childhood. Finally Nick makes a move on Kelsea when something sets him back and he retreats back into himself. Kelsea sees this and recognizes a pattern and puts herself out there. Lets Nick know she is there for him. Their relationship is a push/pull type relationship. Without giving anything away, I was on the edge. My heart broke for Kelsea because she put herself out there and ended up having her heart broken many times. Was she doomed to having her heart broken yet again or would Nick realize that he had a surefire bet of something great in his corner and finally decide to open his heart up and let her in?
The plot, characters and feels is amazing. I enjoyed reading this book. It was sad to see how Nick as a kid was treated and how it ended messing him up as an adult but the story was written tactfully. Loved Kelsea and she was sassy and strong. Great wordbuilding and romance!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
I loved the books of Nick & Kelsea’s parents so this couple had a lot to live up to and Laramie delivered!!
Nick is a tortured soul who has some serious and realistic childhood issues to work through but if anyone can stand beside him while he battles his demons, it’s Kelsea.
I really like the strong heroines in these series of books — the men would truly be lost without them and they freely admit that.
Another great read and I’m looking forward to the next in the series!
Four Star Read
Suppression was a great read. After reading Ransom and getting a small taste of Nick and Kelsea, I couldn’t wait for this book, and it didn’t disappoint. I loved the storyline and it flowed perfectly.
My heart was broken for Nick; no child should have to endure what he went through in his childhood. That made it hard for Nick to move on with his life as an adult. I loved Kelsea’s personality. She was so easy going but fought her whole life trying to win over Nick.
Suppression is the second book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team Series. It can be read as a standalone, although I recommend reading book one, Ransom, first.
