Begrudgingly I let them into my life, along with my new sister and a best friend I would lay down my life for. But giving up my heart and accepting love in return from Kelsea Harrison? It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to do.
And the truth is? I’m not sure if I’m that strong.
Kelsea Harrison
From the very moment I met Nick Kepler I knew he would be the love of my life. Problem is I haven’t been able to convince him of that yet.
When our best friends get married, Nick and I spend a drunken night letting our walls down and losing all our inhibitions. In one moment I’m given everything I ever wanted. Then, in the blink of an eye it’s taken away from me.
The question is, can I be strong for the both of us?
The answer? I have to be.

Nothing worth having ever comes easy….
Just to be crystal clear today is my best friend’s big day and I’m truly happy for her; but seriously I’m now having to deal with Stella’s mom who thinks we spent the night overindulging in some Greek God’s favorite beverage.
So as the maid of honor it’s my mission to make sure she has her day in the spot light.
while keeping the families from guessing the happy couple’s little secret.
No problem….
I learned a long time ago that those I should have been able to count on the most were the ones to fail me at every turn and what made it even worse they didn’t care enough to even try.
And I’ve carried my past everywhere I go it’s never that far away even as I watch all these happy couples who have weathered test after test and are still going strong.
Then there’s Kelsea and she’s totally inebriated and she wants to go home and she knows just how to rip me to shreds with each word that pour out of her pretty lips
but the sad thing is she’s probably right.
However once at her place what I meant to happen and what actually went down; yeah I should have stuck to my guns.
But nope I’m no fool and she has this way of pulling me in that I never want to leave.
To bad I have such a demanding job and I’m quickly running out of time; still i’m willing to be a little late.
The worst thing about being a cop is the calls you wish you didn’t have to respond to and for Nick these kind of situations were the hardest ones of all.
Everyone has been concerned about Nick even I’m worried but I’ve spent days waiting for some kind of response but nope not a single syllable.
Nick still couldn’t believe he just spilled the beans to his best friend about his naughty night with the woman of his dreams and how he’s the worst idiot in the world.
To be quite honest I’m kind of surprised by the fact he actually responded to my latest message; and that I still want to see him.
I just wished he would let me in but nope he’s one stubborn man who blows hot one moment and cold the next.
Kelsea normally loved her crazy chaotic job but not today especially when she meets a young patient who’s situation reminders her of someone else’s.
However she’s more then willing to help Nick and if that means presenting themselves as a well established couple; then so be it.
Because there’s no one who’s going to stop me from standing by my man and that even includes him.
I know we both have the biggest combined family you’ve ever seen and I also know they’d bend over backwards to help us.
Especially the elegant woman standing in my apartment she and her husband took a chance on a scared teen by opening their own home and hearts.
Sometimes it takes a terrifying event to teach us a valuable lesson to show you life is never full of guarantees and you should never take for granted one single moment with the people who make your world shine brighter.
An exceptionally beautiful, and emotional roller coaster ride to go on with Nick and Kelsea. To me this story was more about letting go of the past, learning about one’s self worth, and finding something within them to make things better not only for themselves but for someone else. Nick and Kelsea have an amazing friendship that could be more if Nick felt like he was worthy of a good girl like Kelsea. They forge this bond with one another to help out a little boy in need of rescuing, Darren. This story was packed full of love, devotion, discovery, and of course family. I absolutely loved this book
Unbelievably emotional story! So much angst and heart is the story of Kelsi and Nick! I was brought to tears a few times during the time it took to read it- which really wasn’t that long as it moved along smoothly and beautifully. It’s a sorry that is hard on the heart but if even one part had been left out then it wouldn’t have been the same story.
Together they are met with a challenge that changes everything. Their relationship is put to the test in an unexpected way.
Their family and friends are there for them but Nick has to be willing to let the past go in order for the future to be filled with love!
So darn good!
I fell in love with Nick at Stella’s wedding, and even when I wanted to beat him senseless for being a jerk to Kelsey, I loved him even more for the way he was with Darren!
I love reading Laramie Briscoe’s books because I get to fall in love with the LSERT and MTF guys and gals in each book! I love that all the way through Suppression no one in Nick’s family told him he was moving too fast, doing things the wrong way, etc.
Will Nick and Kelsey be able to treat Darren right, and give him what he needs, or will Nick walk away from it all? Thank you Laramie for treating this situation with the respect it deserves. It always makes me feel 100% better about foster care life when authors want to know what to write, they’re invested in the same pieces, how to give readers a genuine picture of what that life looks like. Laramie Briscoe definitely hit a home run with Nick and Kelsey, and in the piece where Nick puts it all behind him, there are a ton of us still trying to figure out how to do that, thank you for showing the way.
This second book in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series is more emotional than the first, and this couple’s chemistry is a little slower than Ransom and Stella’s. Nick and Kelsea are just as good together, but their romance moves at a different pace. Most of that is due to Nick’s past and his issues with trusting people. That said, Nick is one of my favorite types of leading man. He’s a little grumpy, a little more serious, and a lot broken. He’s also a complete sweetheart when he lets people in. Nick and Kelsea are good together, and his protective side shows even before he’s willing to admit how he feels. This series centers around a group of police officers, but it’s more about their hearts than their jobs, and it’s also more about a bit of romance escapism than reality. Don’t get me wrong, there are some tricky situations for these guys, and for Nick, there are some heartwrenching ones as well, but the focus is the romance. We also get a sweet little guy that definitely needs a good home and lots of love and support. The story is a fairly quick read, but it’s packed full of great characters, and a couple you can’t help but root for. And I’ll tell ya, if the end of this one doesn’t give you a warm feeling clear down to your toes, then you need to go back and reread it because you missed something.
Kelsea has been in love with Nick since he showed up at the Kepler’s place. Nick is too hurt to let anyone in after his past. Will he be able to let his guard down enough to let Kelsea get close? This story had some tears coming from me. A great read and series.
This is the 2nd book in this phenomenal series and is Nick and Kelsea’s story. This is a beautifully written tale which is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout. This story is heart-breaking, and I love how this talented author writes so in-depth regarding sensitive subjects and topics. I was totally hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all.
I just knew this book would be an emotional rollercoaster because on one hand we have Nick who is struggling with reconciling his past and future and he also deems himself not worthy of love in any form especially from Kelsey. On the other hand, we have Kelsey who is struggling with her love for Nick and whether she can handle being nothing more to him than a friend. They both love each other but they both also have things that are keeping them apart. Nick broke my heart so much because of all the things he endured when he was young was so brutal and yet his adoptive family were so loving he just struggled so much with what he thought he deserved and what others around him knew he deserved. Kelsey was loyal and had an undying love for Nick that she would do anything for him, and she proves that time and time again. So, she helps him with one more thing and this ends up being a game changer for them as a couple and it was beautiful. I absolutely loved this book and the love they both found.
Suppression is the second novel in the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team. It can be read as as standalone, but I would start this great series at the beginning. This story is fast paced, heartbreaking, and family filled that I feel like I know them personally. I knew Nick’s book was going to gut me, his fights his demons daily, and he feels unworthy of the life he has. However his family and Kelsie will show him that he deserves to be happy. Kelsie has away about her to give him the strength and love to move forward. I loved this couple. I liked seeing past characters too. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
We met Nick & Kelsea in Ransom & Stella’s story, and knew that they were struggling to define their relationship. Nick has a hard time accepting the love Kelsea has for him, as he struggles with the past he’s never really allowed himself to heal from.
I loved this story!! The way they interact with each other – the friendship they’ve built is an excellent foundation for finally taking that next step. There’s also a twist of sorts, which starts out setting Nick back, but ends up being exactly what was needed to get him on the path to healing. We also get some “extra” POV’s, just like in Ransom. I love getting to see things from their parents’ perspectives!
SO GOOD! : )
I was so excited when Suppression by Laramie Briscoe landed on my kindle. The Moonshine Task Force series and now the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team spin-off are some of the most emotional and romantic books I have read. In Suppression, we get Nick Kepler and Kelsea Harrison’s story and let me tell, I just lost myself in their story.
Nick loved the family he was given, and he would do anything for them. But when it came to letting love in for himself, he just could not do it. Even for Kelsea. Kelsea knew Nick was her soulmate, but how could she get him let her in? Let me tell you, she never gave up on Nick and I just loved that. She was strong and determined for both of them! Their journey was emotional and not easy but love never is!
I was such a huge fan of the series that featured the parents (Moonshine Task Force), but let me tell you, I am loving the spin off with the kids just as much, if not more! Though every book in the series could technically be read on their own, reading the history and each couple’s love story is so worth it!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading!
Suppression is book two in the Laurel Springs ERT series and while each book can be read as a standalone, if you have followed the Moonshine Task Force series you feel like your family has grown and couldn’t be happier. One thing I loved that the author did in the beginning of the book is list out who each person was from Moonshine to this spin-off. It helped not only for those first-time readers, but for us who have read her prior books and knew the friends/family, but down the road blurred these characters together since it may have been awhile since you read those books. This truly helps you enjoy the story and know which character stemmed from where or who may be leading into their own story if not already one out there. You are never felt like you are missing out on anything reading her stories as she always makes sure to fill you in to ensure you love each book.
Truly emotional, well written and the chemistry between these two were in the making for a long time. Nick had a rough life until the Kepler’s came into his live and you will see that Kelsea has always been the friend who was there for Nick even when she wanted to be so much more. Nick still struggles with his demons and doesn’t believe love exists from his experience even though he sees so many of his family have the type of love he secretly yearns for. Kelsea is strong and knows it won’t be easy but is going to step up and know the battle hill will be worth it.
Grab some tissues cause you will be trying to read through cloudy eyes with how this story unfolds. You will get sad tears and happy tears. We even get bonus chapters (you will see as you read is all I will say) that allow your heart to expand even more than it already did reading this story. Once you start reading this story you are going to want to read it in one sitting, trust me. There is so much more I want to say, but I don’t want to give away any spoilers so please just read this book cause you will not be disappointed. There is not a book by this author that you will not fall in love with. Each time you read a new story by her, she leaves an imprint on your heart and gives a message to others who may have experienced some of these events that shows you being hurt in the past can lead to a better life. Without those experiences while sad, it makes you who you are now and that is to be the better person in life.
I’m loving how this family continues to grow as a family (both at work and as family/friends) and I cannot wait to see who is next in line. I highly recommend this book or any book written by this author to others.
5 champagne-filled-stars!

In the second novel of the Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team<.i>series, Suppression by USA Today Bestselling Author, Laramie Briscoe, follows Nick and Kelsea and how life isn’t always better when you are alone.
Nick has had a rough childhood and doesn’t trust easily because he’s seen the dark side of life a few too many times. He was lucky enough to be adopted by two wonderful people who raised him to be a very good human despite his troubled past.
Kelsea has always had a soft spot for Nick. She knows his past and understands why he is the way he is, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to crawl into his heart. Nor does it stop her from trying to change his mind on what he thinks he deserves, VS what she knows he deserves.
At first, you’re not sure if she even should despite knowing that Nick needs someone of his own. But, it becomes obvious as their story unfolds and develops that things might just be falling into place for good – even if it took time to get there.
It’s both a right of passage to crush on your best friend’s brother or sister but with Nick and Kelsea, it is so much more than a simple crush. Thanks to the previous books in this series, you can identify how everyone fits in and how they’ve grown up alongside each other.
As life goes there is always a hill to climb, especially when things seem to go really good. Things can easily be fragile with Nick, I was worried that this ‘hill’ would not be one that they could overcome. Luckily, there’s always a way out and over if you want something bad enough.
Their connection is magic and the pull is undeniable. When they do eventually connect, it sets the virtual world on fire. It is impossible not to root for them in the end!
This book is filled with laughter, tears of heartbreak, tears of joy, and every other emotion you can possibly fit between these two covers.
Both this book and the overall series is one I would certainly recommend a hundred times over!
Ever read a book that the characters just click. And you are dying for them to be together and for a HEA?
I wanted all that and so much more with this book! This book is THE book for me. I love all of Laramie’s writing but this one took it to a different level for me. The plot. The storyline. I was just hooked and couldn’t put it down. I devoured it in one setting.
If anyone deserves love and happiness, it is Nick and Kels. Through the ups and downs, you will love them and cheer them on. It was definitely a book I needed to read and didn’t know it.
I have been dying for this book for so long. Kelsea was one of my favorites ever since reading Cruise. She is my favorite. Nick and Kelsea’s relationship is raw and real. I loved that Kelsea didn’t give up on Nick and continued to prove he was worthy of her love and she was never going to move on from him. Nick has so many demons from his childhood, he keeps everyone at arms length. I honestly didn’t want this one to end. I could read about Nick and Kelsea all day long and never get bored.
Laramie this one was amazing. I cant wait to read about the rest of the team.
Usually whatever this author writes I eat up. This one was not any different and I had waited for the second one in this series. This community with its characters have captured this reader’s attention. The moment Nick and Kelsea come into view you are lost into their story. I love to see those tough alphas that think they do not need or should have love but love shows them something different as it does Nick. As the walls come crumbling down we stay captivated with whom and what does it. When this story escalates it takes us with it but then it puts us back together again.
Suppression!! Wow! What an incredible book. This is my favorite Laramie. Briscoe read to date! It has all the feels. I cried. I ugly cried. More than once! I put it down and walked away to pull myself together and came back to finish. Well worth every tear shed and every laugh! Kelsea and Nick are perfect!!!
Excellent read.
I absolutely fell in love with Kelsea and Nicks story. It was sweet, angsty & drew me in from the beginning. Nick keeps everyone at arms length cause he is terrified of letting anyone close of enough to hurt him cause of his past and Kelsea is probably the only person who could. These two together were absolutely perfect and this might be my favorite Laramie Briscoe book but Nick certainly is my favorite Hero!!
I voluntarily reviewed a advanced readers copy of this book
