Superfan was the third book in the Brooklyn series by Sarina Bowen. And it was another success!
Silas Kelly was the backup goalie for the NHL team, the Brooklyn Bruisers. We met him previously and knew he had an obsession with, Delilah Spark,
the beautiful, world famous pop star, but we didn’t know why. Superfan was an appropriate title and Bowen took us through the journey of why.
I loved everything about Superfan. I loved the characters, the storyline, the writing, the emotions, the authenticity….everything. It was the perfect timing for me for this type of story.
Silas and Delilah had a mixture of sweet, sexy, funny and authenticity going for them. And it had a slightly suspenseful vibe weaved into the plot, adding depth and dimension. I also had a few kindle throwing moments, not because of H/h drama, but because of the antagonist. Additionally, as hockey was an important part of Silas’ life, Bowen included hockey details. It wasn’t the focal point of the story but Bowen’s details were pertinent and accurate, adding even more depth and dimension to the storyline.
All in all, Superfan was a quick, fun, emotional and enjoyable read. Did I say I loved everything about it? I really did. I can’t wait until the next one!
Sometimes it is really hard to put so many feelings and impressions into words. Sarina Bowen is one of the best writers I’ve ever read, and she gets even better with each book she writes. There’s something magical about her voice that never fails to enchant me. I admire her talent so much, and always look forward to reading her, even when I’ve read the book 15 times already.
I love everything about her books. She writes about strong, independent women and strong and respectful men. In my opinion, her characters are so lovable because they are actually good people, and they are relatable to readers because they feel like real people, even if they are professional hockey players or raising music stars.
One of her trademarks is her ability to make you feel so much, to laugh and cry at the same time. She’s hilarious without trying to be funny. She’s truly a master storyteller.
Superfan is Sarina Bowen’s latest hockey romance, and it’s a complete standalone novel, the latest addition to her Brooklyn Bruisers world, and one of her best yet. I sincerely recommend people to read all of the books, though. You might want to anyway, they’re all extraordinary. It’s always difficult for me to choose favorites when I’m talking about Sarina Bowen’s books, but Superfan is beyond spectacular. Finding words to describe my feelings about this book is almost impossible. It’s simply perfect. The story is fast-paced, intriguing, sexy, hot, surprising, sweet, romantic; everything a romance novel needs to be awesome.
Silas Kelly is the sweetest guy alive, but man is sexy! Wow, he caught me off-guard. He’s definitely my new favorite book boyfriend. His chemistry with Delilah is off-the-charts hot and so intense. They are perfect for each other. Delilah is a raising music star with some confidence issues, but she’s strong and independent, she knows what she wants and how to get it. And Silas needs to show her that what she wants and needs is him.
I loved Superfan. So, so much. I would give it ten stars if I could. Or twenty. I would love for people to read it, because I can assure everyone, there’s nobody quite like Silas. And everybody needs Silas in their lives.
You know you’ve read something special when days have passed and you can’t forget the characters. Silas and Delilah are still grabbing my attention days after I’ve finished Superfan. It goes without saying that I fell in love with these characters.
Superfan is a really sweet romance, something that doesn’t always resonate with me as I tend towards books a little darker with an alpha male, but this one hit a nerve. I loved that Delilah was a superstar without that superstar personality. She was happier alone after growing up in foster care and only wanted to make music. She meets Silas right before her music career takes off and their early relationship was this brief, comforting balm for both as they were struggling with career issues.
I loved that Silas wasn’t a superstar. He was just lucky and talented enough for a career in the NHL. His relationship with his teammates was real and comfortable. He’s a guy that anyone would be happy to hang out with. I loved how much he loved Delilah and was “that” guy for her. The one who loved her and saw who she was behind the wall she built. Their romance was so much fun to read with great banter, awesome chemistry, and wonderful understanding that depicted everything any of us would want.
There’s a mystery that’s fairly predictable, but wasn’t without a bit of suspense. There’s lots of fun with the Brooklyn Bruisers, which was one of the highlights for me as I love a book that draws readers into the camaraderie between a group of people. Not every author does it well, but Sarina Bowen nails it. I definitely recommend Superfan, which can be read alone but is part of a bigger series.
4 Stars. Heat level: 3
I received this book from the author in exchange for honest feedback.
Every person looking for a happily-ever-after in their lives should have a Silas Kelly to be their partner. Goodness, but how this guy was willing to go above and beyond for the one girl he’s never forgotten about. The fact that what they shared three years ago wasn’t what you’d expect it to be, and there you have proof that when you share a connection, it doesn’t necessarily have to be sexual for it to be notable. While I loved Silas, I really liked Delilah, although I think that because of everything that was weighing on her and how she seemed to get pulled in one direction and not always push back had me didn’t lead me to the same level of adoration I had for Silas. Now, when it comes to the supporting cast, well, the usual suspects from the Bruisers are present and as always, they showcase just how much of a family they are as compared to being “just” a team. On Delilah’s end, can I just say that her publicist, Becky, was fabulous and is a favorite of mine. From characters to the story, there was not a thing I didn’t like about this sixth full-length installment (not counting the crossover novel that is Bountiful) in Sarina Bowen’s Brooklyn Bruisers series. She absolutely knows her way around hockey romance! Five stars go to Superfan.
What do you get when Sarina Bowen puts a hot goalie with a gorgeous singer / song writer? You get a perfect romance, that’s what!
Superfan was a very tender and deep story, and I fell hard for both Silas and Delilah. They were perfect together – they really were. But fate was in the way for a long time, and it just seemed like it wouldn’t really happen for them.
Well written, Superfan even brought a tiny bit of tears to my eyes, and I can’t do anything but recommend this to all contemporary romance fans!
Oh my I don’t want to look like a Superfan but I really swoon at every Sarina Bowen’s word.
This was another great read and an amazing addition to this series of standalones stories.
Delilah is a singer and Silas is a hockey player with a big crush on her. They didn’t have any chance to meet until they make a bet on twitter and Silas finally wins a date with the girl.
I couldn’t help to fall in love with these characters and to want the best for them.
Go get this book as soon as possible you won’t regret it.
I totally loved Superfan. Silas and Delilah were a fantastic and interesting pair, and while their story wasn’t exactly a ‘normal’ one it doesn’t mean it wasn’t special. But this book, for me, wasn’t just about the romance, it was also about something else. It was about a woman finding her own voice after being ‘managed’ in every aspect of her life, personal and profesional, for a (toxic) man, it was about a man with a outstanding support system, but with his own personal demons to conquer, because nobody’s perfect. Life is not about being ‘perfect’ or ‘normal’, it’s about grabbing the chances with both hands and making the best of the situations you’re in. This book was also about fighting obstacles, about friendship, about second chances, about discovering things that are worth fighting for. I’ve always loved how Sarina Bowen always use her work to leave messages like those to her readers. On a side note I must add, it was cool to ‘see’ the whole gang together again. That’s one of my favorite parts, to read about my old (book) friends and see how they’re doing.
So… if you’ve followed the series, you NEED to read Superfan. And if you haven’t, I recommend you to do it before the book is released. You’ll find fun, sweet, romantic and super amazing stories as this one, and probably you’ll also understand why Sarina Bowen is one of my favorite writers.
I think that Sarina could write a text book for some boring subject and I would drop everything and eat it up. She has once again out done herself with Silas’ story and Superfan!
The Brooklyn Bruisers series continues with this latest installment; Superfan; featuring the Bruisers second string goalie Silas. And fans finally get an understanding into his infatuation with upcoming rock star Delilah Stark. Teased for his burgeoning love of the up and coming rockstar, Silas hasn’t shied away from his continuing support of her success. Little did the reader know that he knew her before she’d made a name for herself.
Sarina and her cast of characters, along with her well developed and relatable storytelling is what draws readers in; it’s what draws me in. I am vested in her story and the lives presented throughout. I want to know what happens next, so I continue to turn the page.
While Superfan can be read as a standalone, anyone wanting to dive into a wonderfully written sports romance won’t be sorry with starting this series from the start. Dive head first into the Brooklyn Bruisers organization, you won’t be sorry.
Sarina Bowen leads the league with SUPERFAN (Brooklyn #3). Goalie, Silas Kelly (aka Ralph) gets a second chance with the girl of his dreams, Delilah Spark, who got away three years ago. This contemporary sports/Rockstar romance is suitable for adult readers.
I love this book! I thought it was clever how Silas’ and Delilah’s tweets started the story, and then it goes back three years prior. I adore that these two got a second chance. They have amazing chemistry and really get each other. They both were poor and became financially sound. They are driven and talented. Fate plays a significant role in this story.
The plot was skillfully executed. Brett Ferris was an intriguing antagonist. His history with Silas and his relationship with Delilah added to the story. I could not put this book down. Warning you may experience a book hangover. I recommend this novel to people who enjoy sports, Rockstar, and/or second chance romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Silas Kelly is goalie for the Brooklyn Bruisers and he has a crush on pop star Delilah Spark. His team mates know this and tease him mercilessly which was so funny to read and showed the bond the guys have.
Mixing the two genres of sports and music could have been a but much but this was such an adorable story it just worked. I absolutely loved how romantic Silas was towards Delilah, he’ll make you believe in love. He’s not the usual cocky sports star he’s actually kind of shy which just endeared him to me more. Delilah was a contradiction she’s super successful but still plagued with insecurities.
This was a fun slow burn romance with some drama I mean they how could you not give they’re professions. A very entertaining fun romantic story.
I love Sarina Bowen and she is one of my auto-buy authors. Brooklyn Bruisers/Brooklyn series is one of my favorite series. ‘Superfan’ is the latest book in the Brooklyn Bruisers/Brooklyn series. All books in the series can be read as standalones but I highly recommend you guys to read all the books 🙂
Since the first book of the series Silas was one of my favorites and I was really heartbroken when he was traded on the first book. But as you see he is back 🙂 Brooklyn Bruisers is a meddling bunch. They are a huge family that supports each other to the end, which I adore and love. Silas Kelly is the goalie of Brooklyn Bruisers. He is easy going, funny, sweet and really thoughtful. Everyone in the team knows that he is obsessed with popstar Delilah Spark what they don’t really know is he met with her three years ago when they were both struggling with their careers.
Three years ago, when Silas was thinking his hockey career ended before it even started, he met with a singer at Roadie Joe’s where he was bartending. The attraction was undeniable but even though he tried so many times, he couldn’t get her phone number. However, she finally agreed to meet up with him for surfing lessons and thanks to Silas’s luck, the day they were supposed to meet, he got a call and jumped on a plane to follow his dreams. Downside is he left the girl behind and since he didn’t have her number, he never gets a chance to give her his real name or why he couldn’t make it to their date. Now after three years fate works for them to get together again, one twitter bet, one jersey and one hockey game win, gets Silas a date with infamous Delilah Spark. OMG! They are amazing together. I loved how Silas was there to support her, be there for her and never felt threatened by her fame or money. Delilah is amazingly talented, smart and super nice but she drove me crazy in some parts. She knows she is good at what she is doing but other than that she doesn’t realize her self-worth. I loved how she transformed from helpless, insecure to an independent and confident woman with the help of Silas’s love and support.
‘Superfan’ is an addictive, sweet, inspiring, sexy and heartwarming story. I loved how this gave the reader a chance to see some of the old characters like Georgia, Leo, Heidi, Jason and Rebecca. I wish there was a bit of the geeky boss Nate 🙂 Overall, all I can say is this series is getting better and better and ‘Superfan’ is my favorite right along with ‘Brooklynaire’. I cannot wait to read more of the series 🙂
Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Yes.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
I have been waiting and dying for Silas Kelly’s book forever and was so excited when Sarina Bowen announced that his book was coming. This story was heartfelt and sexy and I seriously had a bucket full of swoons pouring out of me reading about him and Delilah. I loved that their chemistry was so fiery but their connection and banter felt honest and so real. I loved this story so much!
When we first saw Silas’ reaction to the mere mention of Delilah Spark in Overnight Sensation, we had no idea how deep those feelings ran until we got a front row seat to their short meeting three years ago. I absolutely loved Bowen’s use of flashbacks here as they felt natural and almost whimsical as we saw the initial butterflies and flirtatious smiles between the two. But fast forward three years into the present and Silas and Delilah meet again where all their feelings and emotions come to a head.
Gah! I feel like my smile is permanently tattooed to my face as I loved Silas and Delilah so much! Their love, their banter, their texts and everything about them just checked off all my boxes. They were endearing and sweet and so unforgettable. I rooted for them at all stages even when they were going in different directions. Furthermore, seeing the Bruisers again and their comraderie was absolutely amazing! I never wanted it to end and hope there are more books in this series in the future. Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

noun
1. a person who has an extreme or obsessive admiration for a particular person or thing.
Superfan — that’s me, I’m a Sarina Bowen Superfan!
I’m not sure how to explain this, but Bowen’s voice was different with this book. The story was so fluid and engaging, and the characters were brilliantly portrayed. Don’t get me wrong, I loved her other books, but this one was crazy good!
Silas is the one in the other books in this series, who was obsessed with the singer, Delilah Spark, and her music. His teammates always teased him about his choice of music, but he didn’t care, and now we know why!
Silas had thought his NHL career was over before it ever started. He hadn’t been picked up by a team, and the outlook for him didn’t look promising. He was working as a bartender in the town he grew up in. He’d become bitter and slightly depressed. The only bright spot to his days was when Delilah Spark walked into his bar. She was in town for the annual music festival. She was an aspiring artist who hoped to one day, headline the event. Silas was the bright spot of her days, too. Her manager was a world class jerk and made her life miserable. But she needed him, and even though she didn’t trust easily, she had to trust that he would help her career. As the days past, Silas and Delilah became experts at flirting with one another. Silas tried to get Delilah to go on a date with him and to give him her phone number, but she never would — if she had given him those seven numbers, the two would not have missed out on so much time!
Delilah is my favorite female character from Bowen. She’s a smart, go-getter who refuses to be defined by her circumstances. When life tries to knock her down, she gets back up and fights. She takes control and refuses to stay down.
This slow burn romance was breathtaking, the writing was spectacular, and the characters were captivating. Together, they were the perfect couple. She was his always, and he was her forever.
A definite favorite of the year, ‘Superfan’ is my favorite Bowen book, to date!
I was provided a review copy by AUTHOR; this did not influence my opinion of the book nor my review.
Superfan is book 3 in the Brooklyn Series and this is Silas and Delilah’s story, it blends many troupes so if rock star, sports romance or second chance love are favourites of yours you will want to read this book. It may be part of the Brooklyn Series but like previous books it can certainly be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone although I’m sure you will want to get to know the seriously hot guys from the Bruisers as they find their soul mates.
Silas is the goalie and he is Delilah Sparks biggest fan in fact he is obsessed with singer songwriter but he never though he would ever get to meet the superstar he crushes so badly on, what follows is fun flirty entertaining read with a hint of heartbreak and sadness as the couple who may be successful in their chosen careers but who are both lacking in love get to find friendship and love.
One of the things I love about this series is the opportunity we get to catch up with the team and it’s trades and retirements as well as the new guys just joining, it makes it feel so much more real because we all know this is part of being a hockey player. I love the Bruisers and for me Superfan is the best so far in this great series but I’m still so excited to see who’s next !!!!!
An awesome beautiful story of fate, music, trust, love and hockey. Delilah is a sexy raspy voice talent who is looking for her first big break in music when she meets a handsome sexy Silas who is tending bar pondering his plan B since recently blowing his chance at playing for the NHL. These two have instant chemistry. Delilah has a controlling manager/record mogul Brett who has a history with Silas. Delilah gives in and makes a date with Silas to learn to surf. Silas stands her up cause he gets called up to play hockey and doesn’t have her phone number. Five years later Delilah is famous and shows up at a hockey game and the game begins. Two star crossed lovers try desperately to chase there dreams music and hockey can they mesh their dreams for happily ever after.
A page turning five star read you don’t want to miss!
The Brooklyn Bruisers series is one of my favorites. They are great books with wonderful characters that will make you smile, cheer for them and involve you in the reading that you will not put it away.
Silas and Delilah have been hinted in the other two books with him being her biggest fan. Little did we know that they have met before (three years ago), when he was a bartender waiting for his chance and her a wannabe singer waiting for her shot at stardom.
Now they are established in their careers and she is facing some major problems with her ex-boyfriend/record executive who is giving her a hard time.
Silas is the ultimate good guy and a supportive boyfriend. Impossible not to love him and Delilah is a great girl with major trust issues. They have a great way to go and their path to love is full of challenges.
I just love Sarina Bowen’s books! They are emotional but have a witty way of putting their characters in difficult positions that you will root for them.
Silas and Delilah are adorable!
Silas is just…SWOOOON (I had to add some extra “O’s).
I found myself smiling at all the romantic parts and cursing at the book when … You’ll see. #NoSpoilers
Great story
So excited to get the next book in the Brooklyn Bruiser series and it was so awesome to get Silas book and see what his obsession was with listening to Delilah Spark.
This book was another story from Sarina Bowen and i smashed this one in one sitting loved it.
I loved how we got the back story of how these two met in the first place and i loved how thier friendship grew and how you could feel the connection straight away.
I really loved Silas he was sweet and didn’t care what anyone thought of him and even the way he is so caring towards Delilah from the very start
I really liked Delilah as well she was a struggling artist but she wasn’t one of those ones that felt sorry for herself, sure she had her issues but she was so determined to succeed and i loved it.
This was such a great book in this series i loved how we got all those previous characters and i loved that we got to experience a little of Nate and Rebecca’s Wedding.
I loved the story and how it kept me intrigued with how the story was going to unfold and again loved Sarina Bowen’s writing so good.
Sarina Bowen literally NEVER disappoints. A hockey star and rock star collide and BOOM! As with all of her books, I love their unique love story and how timing and life didn’t work out at the start but then it finally did with a little help from their friends. Highly recommend. Heart-warming, page-turning, can’t put it down romance.
