An innocent boy. A nervous cop. A mayor seeking reelection… After an altercation with the police leaves an African-American teen critically injured, a Florida community demands a safer environment for its youth. But in politics, everyone has their own agenda, and someone will do whatever it takes to ensure things go their way. Now it’s up to one man with a gift for being in the wrong place at … being in the wrong place at the right time to stop it…before it’s too late.
Torn from today’s headlines, Sunshine Scandal is a riveting short story about the way numerous lives in a Florida town intersect, culminating in one startling conclusion.

A Hard-hitting Short Story
The author has done it again, bringing you a page-turning story involving the shooting of a young man by an overzealous police officer, where a person’s appearance can be very misleading. The backdrop is Lakeland, Florida with some many-sided characters, and Miami Beach, where protagonist Orlando Black, a thinker, chivalrous, and an enigma character comes into play, grabbing your attention from start to finish. This intense tale is relevant today, exposing the reader to a world of political deception, greed, betrayal, drugs, and attempted kidnapping and murder. This well-written narrative slowly builds up to an ending that will leave you in awe of Orlando Black.
A nice short story
Story is interesting and flows at a good pace, although the shorter sentences make it hard on the flow at times. I’m looking forward to see how this author evolves.
The protagonist has a mysterious past, and knack for finding himself at the right time at the right place to help innocent people.

Black manages to be in the wrong place at the right time, and he isn’t afraid to get involved, either. Lots of action and great characters in this book make it very enjoyable.

Awesome characters and a great story. I think I’m reading these out of order but it is okay. I still love them! Cannot wait for more by this author.

Author Alex Cage uses well written main character Orlando Black to set wrong back to right and does so with his usual quiet flare and abilities to do so, which makes Sunshine Scandal a great read. A lot in a few pages!! I highly recommend Sunshine Scandal by Alex Cage as a very nice read indeed!! HIGHLY recommend Sunshine Scandal!
Queen City Ruby #1 – This is my first read by this author and I was not impressed. The short story read like a beginner wrote it. I found it heavy with Hollywood dialog and action, some silly, and the flow choppy. Mr. Cage’s style reminded me of the movie Hudson Hawk. I think as he has more practice and learns his craft, with time he’ll be a better writer. Edited. I found this book on Bookfunnel, I think. 3*
Sunshine Scandal #2 – This is better than Queen but still with Hollywood dialog and action. There are parts of the dialog that come across as just plain silly. The story flowed better than Queen with an OK storyline. Edited. I found this book on Booksprout. 3*
Carolina Dance – This book is better than his two short stories, Queen and Sunshine. Unfortunately, he still is heavy with the Hollywood style and unrealistic dialog. I am probably expecting too much from many of the Indie authors in this genre since I’ve read the Big Boys for decades and I am spoilt by great and very good writers. Most of the younger readers will probably enjoy Mr. Cage’s work. Edited. I found this book on Booksprout. 3*
