This is the most wonderful story! I already knew Jamie from the other books in the series as a sexy, computer nerd that always showed how much he loved his grandmother. It is no problem though if you have not read the previous books in the series. Each book can be read as a standalone. I loved getting to know him so much better in this book. Then, we meet Jessica in this book. She has always been prim and proper as she dedicates her life to playing the cello professionally. Well, we soon learn there is more hidden inside of her as the joins the Seaside Sisters. This book definitely has the sweet, with heat, but will also bring you lots of laughter, and a few tears. I love how the two meet. We have all become frustrated with technology at some time, and wanted to throw our cell phone. When Jessica does that, it hits a sexy man, Jamie, in the head. It had “Jamie radar”. From there, Addison Cole, develops a story, that is so well written and such an enjoyable read, that you will have a hard time putting it down. I highly recommend this book.
After reading the book, I then also got the audiobook, and listened to it. What an enjoyable way to travel to and from work every day! Melissa Moran did a great job as narrator. She added even more to the book with just her voice. It is very important to me to have a narrator that keeps your attention, and you can always tell which character is talking. She does both of these really well, so she takes a wonderful book, and makes it a joy to listen to it.
This charming romance took me by surprise…in a good way! I was not sure how a love-at- first-sight romance would work for Seaside resident Jamie Reed and cellist Jessica Ayers. They seemed so very different to me until I read and was captivated by their story.
Jamie Reed is President and creator of One Click, a search engine similar to Google. He’s part of the weekend fun with Leanna, Bella, Amy and Jenna at the Seaside compound in Wellfleet, Mass. Jamie’s grandmother, Vera, summers at Seaside and he has decided to take a sabbatical from work to spend time with her. For years, Jessica Ayers has devoted herself to her music; she feels that she needs a break from the practice and performing and rents an apartment at Seaside. Loved the clever way Addison Cole introduces the two characters; frustrated by her phone, Jessica tosses it and beans Jamie on the head. Jamie quickly figures out that Jessica is clueless about her phone and the internet and tries to help her. The chemistry between the shy cellist and confident businessman sizzles during this unlikely first meeting!
Addison Cole explores the events that shaped both Jamie and Jessica’s personalities. Vera plays an important role in the couple’s romance. As a musician, she recognizes Jessica’s singular devotion to her music and her desire to be loved as herself. Vera understands why Jamie has devoted himself to work and the reason behind his fear of loving someone too deeply. Vera’s words of wisdom to Jamie—“Take care of your heart.” play a pivotal role in the storyline. The conversations between the three characters are honest, poignant and superbly written.
Sunsets at Seaside is heartfelt a story about two lonely people who experience a deep, passionate, romantic love for the first time until a crisis occurs at One Click. Jamie and Jessica’s relationship suffers a serious setback when Jamie’s lawyer exceeds his paygrade and blames Jessica for the disaster at One Click.
Addison Cole balances passion and the desire for a fulfilling career in Sunsets at Seaside. The descriptive writing transports the reader to a perfect Cape Cod summer adventure with friends and the witty, poignant dialogue provides insight into the characters desires, fears and hopes. What sets this novel apart from the other books in the series is that the pieces do not fit together perfectly. Jamie and Jessica’s path towards happiness wasn’t smooth. There was drama, conflict and soul searching before the HEA and these elements made the couple’s journey unique and relatable.
If you enjoy books by Samantha Chase, Donna Alward and Sheryl Woods–you will love Addison Cole’s newest Seaside novel!
Sunsets at Seaside is the fourth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summer series. It can be read as a standalone. Jamie and Jessica are both successful and set in their careers. They both feel satisfied in life, and they both are craving some new connections. While taking a break from everyday life, they both end up at the same Cape Cod cottages. Will their connection be enough to keep them together? I enjoyed listening to this narrator. This is an excellent story that I highly recommend.
You can read this as a stand alone but I recommend you do read each book in this series.
The characters are so much fun you won’t want to wait for a vacation to join them at the beach.
Earlier books are about the Seaside Sisters, the girls who grew up summering in this community.
Now we learn about one of the men who grew up beside them.
Jamie has his turn in the spotlight when a tenant comes to the Seaside for a much needed break.
Jamie has always been the studious, responsible type, focused more on his work and caring for his elderly grandmother who raised him. He is a loyal friend, not as mischievous or boisterous as the resident girls.
The new girl, Jessica, seems shy but friendly. The boisterous girls take her under their wing to bring her out of her shell. Is Jessica not what she seems or is she in the process of finding out who she is? Jamie finds that he has difficult decisions to make before summer ends.
Endearing and eye opening, equally as enjoyable as the previous books.
Sometimes the quiet ones have a HOT fire burning beneath the surface.
As always, the read was sweet, loving, enjoyable, with all the characters that lends themselves to developing a beautiful relationship filled with passion. Jessica and Jamie both came to find something they felt they were missing in their everyday lives. This read proves to you that you can get a romance that fills you up without the explicit sexuality and language.
We get to watch as Jessica and Jamie build their romance from the bottom up. There are trying times with an overbearing mother, interesting grandmother, interfering friend, and a number of other characters that makes this a beautiful summer read.
One simple incident leads to a happy meeting, leads to undeniable chemistry, leads to a chance to live life and experience new things. Jessica discoveries there’s so much more to the world around her than the dictates of her mother, her career, and practice.
If you are looking for a romance that makes you feel good, puts a smile on your face, gives you a dream of something different, ignites passion, chemistry, and even makes you laugh out loud. Then I would most certainly suggest you pick up a copy of Sunsets at Seaside. Jessica and Jamie will give you a read to make your afternoon that much brighter.
Sunsets at Seaside is the sweet edition of the more steamier Seaside sunsets – which was the first book I ever read by Melissa Foster so it was great to revisit Jessica and Jamie in Sunsets at Seaside by Addison Cole
Jessica Ayers plays the Cello for the prestigious Boston Symphony Orchestra and she has rented a cottage in Seaside for the summer, and boy does she get more than she bargained for. Who would have thought that by throwing her phone in a fit after losing an eBay bid would lead her to have the summer vacation to last a lifetime.
Said phone just so happened to hit Jamie Reed – who is the multi-billionaire creator of an Internet search engine called OneClick. From that moment it was clear there was chemistry between them, and that spark didn’t take long to fly either. I loved the chemistry between Jessica and Jamie and in fact I loved them as a couple. Period.
Jessica’s innocence is what makes this story for me, it is unusual for someone in their twenties to not have much experience of things like eBay and relationships, but after leading such a sheltered life devoted to playing the Cello it is pretty understandable.
This is a sweet romance that will leave you with a warm tingly feeling of love, and a few moments where you will want to knock their heads together that will keep you on your toes
I love this series of books! They are light hearted, funny and when you read them you feel like you know the characters and that your there
I’m reading this series and loving every moment. This is the best one, so far. Enjoyed the romance and the story, itself. So good.
I gave Addison Cole’s Sunsets at Seaside (Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers #4) 5 Stars.
Sunsets at Seaside is a fun, romantic, easy to read novel and I fell in love with it!
One of the reasons I loved this book is that it is about Jamie Reed, one of the men of the Seaside Village Group. He is the hero of the book and a favorite of mine. Jamie is a handsome and unassuming multi-millionaire computer nerd with a heart of gold. I loved the heroine Addison gave Jamie. A shy and beautiful young woman in the form of Jessica Ayers, a professional cellist.
The way they meet had me laughing out loud! On one Thursday morning, Jessica tosses her cell phone over her deck railing in frustration. As it sails over the railing and beans Jamie on the head he shouts out in surprise. Jessica, is mortified and tries to hide when she sees Jamie striding up the deck stairs with the cell phone in hand. It is when the two see each other for the first time that you know that Jamie and Jessica’s summer at Seaside will be anything but a normal day at the beach.
I was totally drawn into the beautiful tale that Addison wove of Jamie and Jessica getting to know one another and how their relationship developed into something more. Ms. Cole wrote a passage that I absolutely love as it describes Jessica’s feelings for Jamie perfectly. “I’m not falling for you.” She tried to keep a straight face, but when the smile in his eyes faded, she couldn’t play out the ruse. “You’ve swept me away, Jamie, like Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. You start out soft and magical, and then there’s this intensity that takes my breath away and makes my body ignite into flames, and then there’s the softness again. And just when I think we’re as close as we could get, you surprise me with something as simple as a kiss on my temple…” Don’t we all want someone to make us feel that way?
However, as deeply entwined in his romance with Jessica is; Jamie is confronted with a serious taste of work reality when a virus infiltrates his computer system. Here is another reason for loving this book, I felt the tension grow as Jamie shifted his attention from his idyllic time with Jessica to the immediate need of correcting the serious issues brought about by the computer virus. From here, Ms. Cole lets us feel Jessica’s insecurities in wondering whether she is losing Jamie. In addition, Addison tosses in more food for thought when Jamie begins to think about how well he knows Jessica. It is at that point we wonder whether will doubts and questions undermine what this summer has brought to Jamie and Jessica? Were they “meant to be?”
I really enjoyed Sunsets at Seaside because Addison Cole brought together a great read, a touching romance, and a good amount of tension. Hope you give it a read as well!
I received a review copy of Sunsets at Seaside from the author. All opinions expressed are my own.
Jessica and Jamie didn’t plan on looking for love. She’s a gifted musician with a sheltered life and a beautiful soul. He’s a jaded workaholic, whose focus on career has started to take it’s toll. When family lures him to a beautiful seaside town, his level headed existence is quickly turned upside down. Amidst enchanting sunsets and breathtaking scenery he loses his heart. Will he trust those emotions and take a chance? Or will secrets and pride ruin the magic before it can even begin? Sunsets at Seaside reads like the sweetest of love songs. The melody takes root in the heart and speaks to the soul.
