In the chaos of New York, true love can be hard to find, even when it’s been right under your nose all along… strictly platonic. If only she found it easier to ignore the way he makes her heart race…
Matt Walker has loved Frankie for years but, sensing how fragile she is beneath her feisty exterior, has always played it cool. But then he uncovers new depths to the girl he’s known forever and doesn’t want to wait a moment longer. He knows Frankie has secrets and has buried them deep, but can Matt persuade her to trust him with her heart and kiss him under the Manhattan sunset?

Sunset in Central Park is the second installment in Sarah Morgan’s adult chick-lit/contemporary romance series titled From Manhattan with Love. I have been thoroughly enjoying this series. Ms. Morgan offers romance, humor, and very likable characters in a New York City setting which I love visualizing. Each book features a different heroine/hero and this allows the books to be read in any order.
Sunset in Central Park’s heroine bordered a bit on the depressive side for my personal taste (hiding under a cranky/feisty facade) but her historical and presenting stressors were well-communicated to solicit reader empathy. The hero will already be known to readers who have read other books in this series and I appreciated the many, many cameos by other characters I’ve previously read and come to love. Thankfully, the heroine eventually finds her optimism, the romance blossoms along with her self-confidence and growing confidence in others, and all the fears she had about returning to her childhood home become joyfully unfounded. These aren’t spoilers. You already know this series is one big happily ever after. Just enjoy the ride 🙂
Sarah Morgan’s From Manhattan with Love series includes the following installments as of December 2016:
#0.5: Midnight at Tiffany’s
#1: Sleepless in Manhattan
#2: Sunset in Central Park
#3: Miracle on 5th Avenue
#4: New York, Actually
#5: Meet Me in the Hamptons
#6: Moonlight over Manhattan
Oh wow! What an absolutely amazing story. The emotions, the friendships, and the hot love scenes? What more can you ask for? I have been waiting for Frankie’s story and it was so worth the wait. Matt was hot, hot, hot! And when he set his sights on Frankie it was just awesome. He had a lot of work to do to convince Frankie to overcome her issues and trust in love. There were fun times and there were some tear jerking moments that just filled my heart for these wonderful characters in this story. And throughout the story I constantly had a smile on my face. I loved being immersed in this wonderful world watching relationships develop and friendships strengthen. Sarah Morgan has created such lovable characters that I don’t want to leave this world she created. And for fans of her previous Puffin Island series, you’ll get to revisit some favorite characters from that series in this story. So fun to catch up with what’s happening in those lives. Now I must wait impatiently for Eva to get her HEA. I really can’t wait. Too excited.
*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*
One of my sweetest romantic comedy read for 2016! A friends to lovers/unrequited love story that would have you swooning at very ordinary moments, laughing at really familiar situations and of course falling in love not only with the characters but in the way New York City and Central Park in particular is portrayed.
I was excited to read this next book in a series by Sarah Morgan since the first one was so good. This one was a bit of a let down for me. Frankie is a woman who has trouble trusting and having a loving relationship with a man due to circumstances of her parents divorce and her dads affairs. Matt is a strong man who was hurt in the past by his ex fiancé, but he doesn’t let that stop him from wanting a loving relationship. These two characters have had feelings for each other for years but have not let them be known to each other until a weekend when they go back to their hometown to celebrate a wedding of a friend of Matt’s. It’s at this weekend getaway that they express feelings for one another. While this was a good read with steamy sex scenes and both characters learning to trust one another it just wasn’t a book that I couldn’t put down like the first one in this series. This is the only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
