Trace and Mona are both single parents with teenage daughters and history that goes back to their dating years in high school. Trace made the mistake of cheating on Mona with Sally, now his ex-wife. In a small town, paths cross and gossip flies. When Mona decides to run for Mayor against Trace, life becomes even more complicated, especially as these two struggle to navigate underlying feelings for each other.
This is a sweet romance with engaging characters set in a charming town. Of special mention, Trace and Mona’s daughters, Bailey and Amber, provide a secondary plot line that shines every bit as brightly as the first. The ending is superb, providing the perfect HEA you’d expect from a story like this. A winner all the way around!
Sunset Beach is dear to the heart of Mona and Trace, as it is connected with their past yet none of them visit it, trying to escape their past. Mona carries the bitterness within her heart, refusing to share it with anyone and Trace’s guilt gnaws at his nerves even after seventeen years of betrayal. The plot is riveting and unfolds quickly through the reactions of characters who can’t avoid each other, as they live at a small island.
Jacquie’s style of telling the story in a natural manner, as if conversing with a friend and pulling it to a likable ending makes her an author with a difference. She focuses on the real issues and finds quick solutions. It is a fabulous sequel to Sweetheart Cove.
If you’re looking for a perfect summer or beach read, this is the book for you! A wonderful love story that is so beautifully told you won’t want it to end. And once you finish it I promise you’ll want to start rereading it almost immediately. It will make you laugh and cry and wish these characters were real.
In a world turned upside down right now, this book is a quick feel-good read with charming characters (one of whom has a long-time secret). Set in a small town where everyone knows everyone’s secret, Trace is clueless about one that will change his life. You know how the book will end, but the characters are so nice (no foul language or explicit sex) yet they remain highly credible. Forgiveness is a strong theme that I wish had received a few more pages, but the author knows her story and her audience.
This was a nice, romantic, short story about Mona and Trace, who dated and fell in love in high school until Sally broke them up and married Trace. I liked how the romantic story was set in Sweetheart Cove which sounded so beautiful. This book was full of secrets, gossip, and the chemistry was still there between Mona and Trace all these years later. Oh and Trace is not married to Sally anymore. I quickly turned the pages and I could not stop reading until I reached the last page to find out how the story would end. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
What a wonderful sequel to Sweetheart Cove, the first book in the series. Mona Samuels has raised her daughter, Amber, by herself. Her restaurant on Blue Haven Island is successful, but she is bothered by the recent rise in crime due to a spa that opened. Her long ago love, Trace Michaels is the current mayor and after his divorce is raising his teenage daughter, Bailey. Mona has decided to run for mayor, but will the exposure bring to light a secret that she has kept for so many years? A story that will make you laugh and cry as Mona and Trace finally come to terms with their past. I love it when an author provides updates on previous characters and Ms. Biggar does that for Jacob and Josie from the first book…almost like hearing from a friend. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. (by paytonpuppy)
Just about everyone can understand the turmoil of Mona in this story. A teenage Mona finding herself pregnant and then breaking up with the boyfriend, the hard decisions she must make and then many years later the old flame is back. Must read this well written story that will make you laugh, smile and cry in places. Sunset Beach by Jacquie Biggar.
Trace and Mona were so in love in high school until Trace got drunk at prom and spoiled Sally moved in on him. I was so glad to hear that Trace and Sally were no longer married. But I did feel bad for his daughter Bailey whose mother didn’t want her. Now Trace is trying to raise a teenager by himself and work as mayor. Mona still lives on the island with her teenager daughter Amber. The funny thing is that Amber and Bailey are best friends even though Amber is a couple of years older. I loved how Amber is so mature and does so much to help Bailey. I felt bad for Trace and Mona as I could tell they both had feelings for the other. Mona hasn’t let go of her pain of what Trace did to her at prom. I loved how Trace and Mona get thrown together a lot. There are secrets that come out too. I really enjoyed the book and strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Jacquie Biggar, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. I enjoyed this second chance romance between Trace and Mona. They were high school sweethearts seventeen years ago. They broke up when Mona found Trace with Sally at the prom even though Mona was the girl Trace invited. When Trace and Sally decided to get married, Mona gave up on Trace and she never told him she was pregnant. The past is finally surfacing when Trace comes back to Sunset Beach where Mona lives and owns a successful restaurant. Will Trace find out that he is the father to Mona’s daughter, Amber, and will he and Mona rekindle their relationship since they are both single? You will have to read the book to find out. This is a great book and I recommend it.
