I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Daniel, Helena, Payton, Karen, Jay and the rest of Sunny Springs High. Helena is the head Editor of the school newspaper and she’s starting her senior year with a crush on Jay, the quarterback. Daniel is going to be the photographer but he annoys Helena. So when Jay asks her out, her friends Karen and Payton help her get ready. The more Helena talks about Jay, Daniel gets more upset. Each character has a huge roll in the story. Lots of teenage angst to drama.

I really liked this story about Helena who is about to begin senior year at Sunny Springs High. Helena has worked hard for perfect grades and to be the lead journalist and editor of the school paper because she wants to get into Berkeley and eventually become the youngest journalist to win a Pulitzer. She rarely dates and isn’t a party girl but has a crush on Jay, the captain of the football team. She also has her own version of a bully, bad boy Daniel Bellemy, who has been following her around taking pictures of her, pulling her braid, and bothering her since she was ten years old.
Helena shows up to her best friends end of the summer bash only to find out that Daniel Bellemy will be ruining her perfect year by joining the school paper as the new staff photographer. The interactions between the two of them are pretty good. Helena is really crushing on Jay and he is interested in her also. The reader can easily see what is going on even though the characters can not always see so clearly. However I liked the way the book flowed. I liked that we could really see who the bully was in the book. The characters were developed well for the fact that it was a fairly short book.
I will definitely read more in this series and more from this author.

Helena a senior and the editor of the school newspaper at Sunny Springs High. Daniel has crushed on Helena for as long as he can remember but he’s also a bully. Helena has a crush on the captain of the football team Jay so when he finally notices her she’s thrilled. Which guy does Helena choose and why? This is an entertaining high school romance and I can’t wait to find out what happens next for this group of characters.
Great YA read! Can’t wait for more scandal!
Helena is a senior and it’s shaping up to be a great year. She’s the editor for the school newspaper, she’s working towards valedictorian and she’s caught the eye of her long time crush. But what happens when your crush is an evil creep and the guy who’s annoyed you since 5th grade is the new photographer for the school paper. Daniel has loved Helena from afar since 5th grade. He’s the school delinquent but also the only person that can save and protect Helena.
I have upper teen aged daughters. Knowing my love of reading they and their friends have given me YA Contemporary Romance reading recommendations and now I have one I think they will really like and can’t wait to recommend. Great story line, fiction with a hint of truth. I loved the characters and can’t wait to find out more about them and the scandals they uncover.
I was blown away with this book. I knew of only one of the authors but I deiced to take a chance, and I was not disappointed! This was a great book. It will leave you thinking and wanting so much more!
