Mallory Westbrook is ready to make her move on Jake Summerford, the boy – now man – she’s been crushing on for years. Coming back to Magnolia Sound to celebrate her great-grandfather’s birthday provides the perfect opportunity to show Jake that she’s no longer a child. The last thing Jake expected to do at his mentor’s birthday party was to find himself kissing Mallory under the moonlight. Though … moonlight. Though he’s known her for years, the thought of kissing her never crossed his mind. But the shy tomboy he once knew is gone, and in her place is a woman he can’t resist.
They have one summer before they go their separate ways. Insecurity wars with the possibility of a future together, but it could all come to an end before it even has a chance to start.

Samantha Chase always delivers fun, feel-good, swoony romance. Brother’s best friend is my favorite trope EVER, and this book does not disappoint. I cannot wait for the rest of this series!
I’m a sucker for a great brother’s best friend story and no one writes them better than Samantha Chase!
What a great teaser for what I believe will be a great series. Mallory is grown up (in her mind) and ready to show the boy next door to her great grandfather’s house, Jake that she is not that immature girl anymore. Jake definitely notices her and their friendship starts to become more. But their lives are about to go in different directions and they have to make a decision now on what to do. I am so addicted to this couple! And I am craving more. I can’t start the next book fast enough. This author does a great job on creating characters that the reader loves right away. And talk about a hot and heavy but still sweet romance. I’m hooked!
Samantha Chase is amazing. She takes realistic characters, gives them real life and then makes the reader become invested in their lives. This is Mallory and Jakes story. They are both young, in their 20’s, been friends forever and are now feeling the attraction between them. What used to be a childhood crush has developed into real feelings with the potential for broken hearts.
I was cheering for Mallory from the very first page. She came back to Magnolia Sound to celebrate her great grandfather’s birthday but also to show Jake that she is all grown up. She took her life into her own hands, turn it into a life that she loved, and was showing her strength by not sitting back and waiting for Jake to notice her. The strength, the self-esteem, and the lack of fear in going for what she wants making her someone I would like my daughters to look up to.
This is a fun, easy, short book. It is the start of a new series on books from Samantha Chase.
Love this prequel!
This is the prequel to Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series. I t is an absorbing book about two people who are clueless to each other’s thoughts and feelings, even though they have known each other all of their lives.
The story begins “six years ago” when twenty year old Mallory decides to make herself over to look like an adult. Her goal is to finally catch the eye of twenty-four year old Jake. Mal has had a crush on him since they were kids.
Jake has always looked at Mallory as a kid, more like his little sister. However, Mallory’s new look, and her constant flirtations, have finally caught Jake’s attention. In addition, Mallory’s blatant advances, both sexual and personal, awaken Jake’s passion and his libido. Their chemistry is hot enough to burn the pages.
However, in spite of the hot sex, it is very apparent that Jake and Mallory have a loving relationship based on warm words, loving actions and great respect for each other. Their physical relationship is an extension of their love for each other.
Of course, the couple’s road is not without obstacles. Jake has waited a long time to go to college. He plans to leave this coming fall when he gets a scholarship. Unfortunately, he loses his scholarship, unless he can find another way to pay for his college. He keeps this a secret from everybody. Still, Mallory has two more years left of her college, which means that she and Jake will have a long-distance relationship.
This is a book that will warm your heart. It includes romance, hot sex and a surprise ending.
I really loved Sunkissed Days by Samantha Chase, the prequel to her Magnolia Sound series. It was free on Amazon, so I decided to give it a try. I was so happy that I did. I loved the characters and the setting. The characters are so believable and the book is filled with bittersweet moments and a surprise ending. I have only read one other book by Samantha Chase, and it will definitely not be the last book that I read by her. I really enjoy how the story is told from the perspective of both Mallory and Jake. Sunkissed Days is the story of Mallory “Mal” Westbrook and Jacob “Jake” Summerford. Mallory has had a crush on Jake, her great-grandfather, Ezekiel, “Zeke” or “Pops” Coleman’s neighbor, but with their age gap, Mallory never thought that Jake noticed her. Jake works for Zeke at Coleman Construction. Mallory, her twin brother Sam, and her mother Susannah always spend the beginning of summer break at Zeke’s home in Magnolia Sound, North Carolina. Sam and Susannah return home to New York, but Mallory remains. Pops asks her to redecorate the boat house on the pier that she loves. Romance blooms between she and Jake, but they both know that it will only be a summer fling. At the end of summer, Mallory will return home and to college and Jake will begin his college career in Colorado. Mallory overhears a conversation between Pops and Jake and it changes everything. Who doesn’t love a friends to lovers story and Samantha Chase delivered a wonderfully written story. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the continuation of Mallory and Jake’s story with Remind Me.
I love the characters in this story and I couldn’t wait to read all of her stories in this series.
Sunkissed Days is the prequel to Samantha Chase’s new Magnolia Sound Series. This is like a warm welcome to the series and the characters we will see throughout the series. I felt blanketed in the warmth of Magnolia Sound. Samantha always creates not only characters that feel like family but settings for the story that are relateable and easy for me to imagine myself in. Pick up Jake and Mallory’s story to get a taste of Magnolia sound.
5 HEARTFELT STARS!! Wow, what a great start to this new journey….I am so excited for more of Jake and Mallory’s story. As always Samantha Chase gives us characters that you fall in love with and a storyline that sucks you in. I can’t wait to read more.
Sunkissed Days is a prequel to Samantha Chase’s Magnolia Sound series. Readers could read the first book Remind Me, which releases March 12th without reading the prequel. Although, I would recommend reading the prequel. Otherwise, you will miss out how Mallory Westbrook and Jake Summerford ended up together over the summer in Magnolia Sound.
Mallory has had a crush on Jake for several years now. Unfortunately, Jake has only seen her a little kid. Her twin brother Sam had the good looks and genes it seemed until she decided to make a change when she came to visit Magnolia Sound during the summer from college. She ends up seeing Jake, and that is when Jake realizes that Mallory has grown up. He’s bothered though still by the age gap between the two. (A little rant right now, which is one of the big issues with the story for me. A 4 year age gap is not a big deal for people in their 20s/30s, etc. This means if Jake is 24, then Mallory is 20. There are times that a female is mature for her age. I hate when age gap issues are in stories. Yes, the male character got over it, but still. Grrrr!)
Okay, now that I got that rant out in the air. I did enjoy the fact that the characters did get together in the story. I also love the scene with how Mallory stepped up in the story before the characters got together. She surprised Jake several times because she took charge.
I enjoyed the secondary characters too that were introduced in the story and hope that some get their books too. I enjoyed the Great Grandfather in the prequel and his personality.
This is a prequel, so I won’t go into any further details since I don’t want to spoil anything. Just know that Mallory and Jake’s story is not over. The first full-length book releases March 12th, and I’m looking forward to finding out if Mallory and Jake’s summer fling ended up with something more later on.
Story Rating: 4 stars
Steaminess Rating: 3 stars
Standalone or part of series: Prequel story of Jake/Mallory and Remind Me is the first full-length novel of the two characters. I recommend it to get to know some other characters introduced too for the Magnolia Sound series. I loved the Great Grandfather.
Do I recommend this book? Yes.
Will I read other books from the author? Yes.
Tropes/Elements: Unrequited Love Story until the characters one of the characters realized they do have feelings (Family Friends to Lovers…eventually); Age gap between the characters by 4 years.
I absolutely loved this book, especially Mallory’s relationship with Pops. The rapport Zeke has with everyone was amazing. Jake and Mallory….I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. The ending to this book was perfect!!
So sweet!! I loved watching Mallory & Jake fall in love! Pops was probably one of my favorites! And although I’m bummed that I have to wait until March 12th for the rest of their story to be released, I thought that this was the perfect introduction to this couple!!
Mallory has finally decided to make her move on Jake Summerford, the boy she has been crushing on for years. A trip home for a birthday party for her great grandfather is the perfect time to show Jake the new her. Jake is shocked to see Mallory. He can’t believe that the tomboy girl he remembers is now a beautiful women. He has never thought of Mallory as anything more than a friend. She is 4 years younger than him, but for some reason he can’t keep his eyes off her. When they find themselves alone under the moonlight Mallory makes her move and kisses Jake. Imagine her surprise when he kisses her back. He breaks away knowing in his mind that this should not be happening, but the temptation is too strong to keep them apart. They only have the summer together before they are both off to college. Will their time be over before it gets started or will there be a forever?

love Samantha Chase’s books!!
Sunkissed Days written by Samantha Chase is the prequel to the new Magnolia Sounds series. I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to see what happens in the bext book. I was drawn in right from the first page and couldn’t stop reading it not even to make dinner. This story will leave you craving for more. I loved meeting all the characters and learning about Magnolia Grove. I can wait for the fist book so hopefully all or almost all my questions will be answered.
What a great start to a new series. I really enjoyed Jake and Mallory’s story. I loved how he was caught off guard in the beginning. Their chemistry was amazing, and I loved every bit of this story. I definitely recommend it.
This prequel to the Magnolia Sound series was a great quick read. It has every thing we have come to expect from Ms. Chase, love, lust, humor, and leaves us wanting more. I can’t wait for the rest of this series!
First off, WHAT AN AWESOME BEGINNING TO A NEW SERIES!!!!! Kudos, Ms. Chase, phenomenal beginning. Sunkissed Days is the prequel to Ms. Chase’s new series, Magnolia Sound. Once I started reading Sunkissed Days, I literally could not put it down. I am FLOVING the introductions of all the new characters and cannot wait to read all of their stories.
Second, Jake Summerford is a freaking idiot!!! Sorry ladies, I will NOT tell you why!
See what happens when his neighbor’s great-granddaughter grows up!! Jake cannot believe his eyes when he goes to his neighbor’s birthday party and sees his great-granddaughter for the first time in a while. The last thing he expects is to fall for her, he has his plan set to go to college in the fall. But you know what they say, best laid plans and all….
Mallory Westbrook has had a thing for Jake for MANY years. To bad he does not feel the same way. This time, Mallory is determined to make Jake SEE her. And, by gosh, does he ever!!!
I LOVED this book, every cotton pickin’ word! I definitely cannot wait to read what the future brings to Mallory and Jake, as well as the rest of the people we met. Thank goodness, the first book will be releasing in mid-March. EEK!!!! I cannot wait!!!

I can’t wait for more of this series! Coastal living, a sweet great grandfather, and a summer romance…sign me up As this is a prequel I knew there would be a cliffhanger, but I was not expecting the cliffhanger we got!! When I finished reading I kept clicking for more because it ends at a good place and I can’t wait to see where six years later their romance starts back!!
Every time I read a SC story I am in awe of the world building and characters. Everything is so vivid and complete that I feel as though I am there or in the middle of a movie. And man can we talk about the library and garden in this book they sound like a dream come true! As an avid reader and gardener this spoke to me
I enjoyed this story and I am excited to see what all takes place in Magnolia Sound!
Thanks Samantha Chase for the chance to read this story and share my opinions.
