The view from 8,848 meters isn’t always clear. Even after eight successful summits, Mount Everest guide Neil Quinn can’t handle anything the mountain throws his way. Disaster strikes steps from the top, leaving him with a very old swastika-embellished ice axe that should never have been so high on the mountain – not if Everest’s meticulously documented history is accurate. Danger doesn’t stop … accurate.
Danger doesn’t stop at the descent.
When he heads back to Europe, blackballed and alone, he struggles to discover the truth about this lost relic. Quinn’s investigations soon have neo-Nazis, assassins, and history buffs vying to take possession of the axe’proof of Nazi alpine superiority, and strong evidence that a German climber was the first to summit Mount Everest.
Beautifully written and meticulously researched, Summit follows two climbers across two continents as their stories intertwine across history, culminating in one final push for the top of the world.

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is a fiction story about climbing Mt. Everest that will keep you wanting to read more to find out how it is going to end. This book will not disappoint you.
Great book , goodreading
Great original story
Very informative
This was Harry Farthings first novel and was excellent writing. The story line so interesting and could not put it down.
Two connected stories separated by 70 years. Great story.
Writing is wooden and maladroit. Story is unbelievable and characters are poorly drawn and described.
I like the story line wrapped into around the rise and fall of Germany in history. With a well mix of climbing mountains.
Well researched. Strong writing.
I liked the book a lot. I’ve read several novels that revolve around a specific item, with 2 stories about it; one historic & one more modern. So far, I’ve liked all of them. The plot of this novel is complex & I kept forgetting details from one story or the other. Thank goodness for the search feature on the kindle! It was just a little long for me. I loved the first half, but started getting restless in the second half. Not that there was anything wrong with the second half, because there wasn’t. I just started losing interest because I was ready to move on. I never considered not finishing it for an instant.
It was informative
Entertaining. Different story-great descriptions of climbing Everest by someone who didn’t make it to the top.
It was a good read.
Outstanding read. I learned a lot about the early Everest community and great descriptions of what it must be like to be on the mountain. Hope writes another.
Couldn’t put it down. Was a great book from start to finish!
Interesting premise, perhaps somewhat overwritten.
This book was great! Exciting page turner!
Great story and so well written that I had to keep reminding myself it was fiction.
Definitely a must read for anyone who enjoys adventure laced with mystery
Probably the best book I’ve read all year.
