Nice quick read. Would even call it a good summer beach read.
Really like the format of the book. Storyline went back and forth between digging into the mystery and the various characters telling their own story of how they got to the point of murder. All characters were realistic and well developed. Surprise ending!
Well-plotted with twists and turns
It is one of my favorites. Reminded me of the Eve Duncan stories by Johansen.
Couldn’t put it down!
Looks like a new talent has entered the mystery/thriller genre.
I listened to this as an audio book on a car trip and it kept me interested the whole time!
This book was captivating from the beginning to the end. The author kept me guessing through out the book. It was a diverting novel.
Enjoyed this book very much, really held you right from the beginning. It is a must read
What a great book. I love it when you are reading a book and the author writes a twist that you did not see coming and you stop reading and say wow, really? I could not read this book fast enough. I just ordered Charlie Donlea’s new book The Girl Who Came Home – can’t wait to read it! Highly recommend this book!
I could not put this book down!!!! I read till 3 am one night! It was too good!! I think 5 stars isn’t enough, I haven’t read a book that good in years!!!!!!! Highly, highly recommend this book to everyone!!!!!
Very good characters with a very good story line that has twists and turns. It keeps you wanting to reach the end. The author keeps it moving along and doesn’t more details then needed.
Well written; held my interest
This author is amazing. The book is incredible. Actually searched the authors name after reading another book because it was exactly the type of book that makes your heart go bam!!!
Pacing seemed off, characters not particularly sympathetic or likable. Seem a bit sophomoric.
Characters well fleshed-out – author creates people you can care about. I really liked this book.
Loved it
This book is great can’t put it down.
This debut novel is a winner! Could not put it down with four tight friends surviving college together until four become two. And the author brings Becca, Gail, Jack and Brad to life and their lives change in a shocking way. Suicide, death, guilt and love. Would give this an extra star!!
Very descriptive. I felt as if I was in Summit Lake. The tourist town of the rich with the coffee shops and upscale homes facing the lake or the mountains behind. You can almost smell the cut grass, hear the rustling trees and the fear…..there has never been a murder in Summit Lake..ever.
The plot is realistic, tight, rich and shocking in the end. BUT if you reread parts, give the author a high five because the reader makes assumptions, and assumptions lead to mistakes and even death. Becca makes some and Kelsy the crime reporter is fantastic as she delves into Becca’s life and death. The murder isn’t grisly but is so uncomfortable because you feel for Becca…you feel her confusion and fear and it is overwhelming. And Kelsy becomes her advocate in trying to piece together the truth. Do not start this book and plan to put it down…you won’t be able to.
Summit Lake is a good easy read & debut book written by Charlie Donlea.
I found it easy to follow the plot & the main characters were very descriptive thaI felt I could see them. Some of the police procedures were a little whacky but this is fiction and it helped the book evolve.
As a repoter, Kelsey was recently victimized and sent to Summit Lake to investigate the murder 0f a pregnant law student at thier summer home in Summit Lakeand unravels a lot more than she had bargained for with the help of some new friends from the area.
