Will theirs be a summer reunion or a summer to forget? After losing his parents and twin sister to a tragic accident, Mannix Tomlinson hit bottom. Beer and bitterness destroyed his marriage to his high school sweetheart, but he’s a changed man now. Solid, stable and sober, he’s finally ready to start a family of his own. But the only woman he can imagine spending his forever with filed divorce … with filed divorce papers on him eight years ago.
When Rowan Albright faces her groom at the end of the aisle, this time they’re not the ones getting married. She never stopped loving Mannix, but his weekend beer binges to mask the deep-rooted grief tore at the very fabric of her soul, especially since alcoholism decimated her family. But Aunt Ellie says he’s clean now, so when Mannix’s beloved Gramps offers her a job in the family business, she jumps on it. Working together will reveal her ex-husband’s change of heart, right? Or destroy hers…
Is faith, hope and love strong enough to rebuild what was lost? Will God give them a second chance at love and a future, or will both their hearts be shattered once again? Will theirs be a summer reunion or a summer to forget?

Dora Hiers really hits Mannix Tomlinson with it all, guilt, depression, alcoholism and loss of his marriage. The Lord used the divorce to wake Mannix up as to his self-destructive nature. Thankfully the Lord and Gramps never gave up on him. I loved this story of what following Christ can do for a believer. Rowan never stopped loving her ex-husband, she just couldn’t take his behavior any longer. Thank you, Dora, for this story. I look forward to Trace and Gentry’s stories.
Loved how God was incorporated into their lives. It was a very sweet read.
I always enjoy a great story of second chances. In Dora Hier’s recent novel, Summer’s Reunion, she tells the story of a second chance for a divorced couple, which you don’t see often. Mannix and Rowan once shared a life together, they were partners, they thought they’d be together forever, but that was in the past, or is it? This is a beautifully written story, not only of second chances, but of hope, faith and the ability to trust someone again. It’s a reunion romance that proves love does conquer all. I highly recommend Summer’s Reunion for anyone who enjoys inspirational romance.
What an incredibly sweet, Christian, second chance novel.
Mannix Tomlinson is stunned to see who is attending his grandfather’s wedding. It’s been eight years since his wife filed for divorce, and she had every right. His life was imploding around him and he couldn’t find a way to fix it. Now, with God the focus of his life, maybe he can find a way to heal the pain he caused her.
Rowan is back in Moondust Cove for her aunt’s wedding and even though she knew she couldn’t avoid seeing Mannix she’s surprised to see the changes he’s made in his life; and it seems her feelings for him haven’t changed a bit. But has too much damage been done to their relationship to find a way back to the love they once shared?
There was notable info missing for a first in series book. Unfortunately, if I made note of all of them here it would give away too much of the book, and make this review too long.
I received an ARC and voluntarily offer this review.
This was such a good book about second chances. I loved it. I loved that the reason for the divorce was reasonable and the problems were very believable. Loved all of the characters. Great story. Clean.
I received this book free in exchange for my honest review
This is an amazing story that grabbed my heart. I love the story building and the Character building and how well the story flows, I felt like I was there living the experience through the characters. I definitely recommend.

She comes back because her aunt is getting married – and decides to stay there. In spite of the fact that her ex is living there. In spite of the fact that she still loves him . . . can she trust him? Will the reunion be a good one or not?
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
Summer’s Reunion is a beautiful story of hope, faith, and second chances. It is about overcoming loss and turning to God to take away the bitter pain instead of trying to drink it away. How beautiful Mannix and Rowan had a chance to be together again in their own Summer’s Reunion.
I really liked the story and all of the Tomlinson clan. I also liked Moondust Cove. It sounds beautiful, peaceful, and like such a great place to live. It was interesting to see how the pandemic had played into Rowan’s life. I look forward to reading more stories about the Tomlinson’s. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This was an uplifting and clean second chance romance featuring Mannix Tomlinson and his ex-wife Rowan who left when Mannix used alcohol to deal with the pain of the sudden death of his parents and twin sister when he was a teen. Now, many years later, will true love and faith prevail? This is a novella that is “fleshed out” well enough that you don’t feel like anything important is missing. I enjoyed it and recommend it! I was entrusted with a copy of the book by the author and this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
I loved this second chance romance. These characters were great and it was fun to watch them rediscover each other. I enjoyed the introduction to the Tomlinson clan and their business and I’m hoping to see more of them!
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Wonderful book. Very well written with a great story. Thankful I got a chance to read it.
I did receive an advanced copy of the book and the review is mine voluntarily.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Dora Hiers, via Bookfunnel and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book which is a second chance love story for Rowan and Mannix. They were married then divorced eight years earlier because Mannix became an alcoholic after he lost both his parents and his twin sister in a car accident. When Mannix and Rowan are both part of the wedding party for his Grandpa and her Aunt, they find out that they never stopped loving each other. Also, Mannix gave up alcohol after his divorce and gave his life to Christ. The issues of divorce and alcoholism are handled with grace and love by the author which made the book a great read. Did Rowan get over her trust issues with Mannix to remarry him? You will have to read the book to find out. I highly recommend it.
Pain. That’s the first thing I felt as I began this book. His pain, her pain, but then sweet hope in the midst. A second chance is the theme. The characters owned mistakes and extended grace often. This is an inspirational romance with a lot of heart. I received an advance reader copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Ms. Hiers has done it again! Given us a small town summer romance all the way from Moondust Cove. And what a lovely town it is. With charming characters who face struggle throughout their lives only to be centered by Gods love and grace. I loved the Tomlinson brothers and Rowen. Such a beautiful family that warms your heart.
I always feel so uplifted after reading any book by Dora Hiers. Summer’s Reunion is an inspirational, second chance romance. The plot deals with themes of alcoholism, divorce, redemption, healing, forgiveness, and second chances. Mannix and Rowan make a delightful couple as do Ellie and Gramps. For once I started reading early enough that I was not up half the night. I always read Ms. Hiers’ books straight through.
Can Rowan and Mannix have a second chance at love? They divorced eight years ago due to Mannix drinking problem. Rowan is back in town after her mither’s death and is going to work for Mannix. They are still in love but they need to trust each other again. Can God and their faith help them find their shared path again?
Normally I am not a fan of second chance romance. I figure if it didn’t work the first time why try again. But this story is different. This story covers the struggles of alcoholism and how it can destroy lives. The message in this story is that with faith, trust, and God’s love and forgiveness, lives can be mended and made whole. Such an uplifting read for summer.
I received this copy free from the author and am under no obligation to leave a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am freely sharing my opinion.
Mannix was full of grief and anger. He let it come out through drinking. His world was turned upside down when his parents and twin sister died in a car crash right before his high school graduation. All of his plans to go to college, to get a job in the field he loved, died too. Rowan was his high school girlfriend, then his wife. She stuck with him through thick and thin,… until she just couldn’t anymore. After saying ‘I Do’, it didn’t take long for Mannix to start acting out. Gone was the loving, kind and supportive man Rowan married. The bottle took her place and took over Mannix’s life.
Rowan never stopped loving the man she fell in love with, but this new Mannix was a stranger. She had to leave, get away. Eight long years later, circumstances brought her back ‘home’. Her Aunt Ellie was marrying Gramps, and she was in the wedding. And who was Gramps? He was Mannix’s granddad and the best man in the wedding.
So now they meet again. Rowan is like most women, she has a very good memory. She is fearful, she’s never got over the pain of their divorce. She still loved the man she married, but she knew that man was no more.
Rowan is naturally gun shy. She may still have deep feelings for Mannix but can she trust him again? She sees changes in him. She see’s he now leans on God instead of the bottle. Mannix knows he lost Rowan and why. He wants her back, but knows all the hurt and pain he caused won’t magically go away. He needs to earn her trust again and sets out to do just that. It’s not an overnight fix. It will take patience and searching deep within on both their parts. It’s a journey of forgiveness and redemption.
OBSERVATIONS
Alcohol has ruined a many a person and many marriages and families. It’s deceptive. It’s sneaky. It happens very slowly until choice is lost. I was glad to see this book bring out how damaging the drug of alcohol really is. As much as Mannix changed, he still was tempted.
We have the power and ability to not drink, to say NO. If you don’t drink it, it can’t creep up and claim you.
Lovely story! Loved getting to know Mannix and his brothers. It was wonderful Rowan got her second chance for a forever and always kind of love with Mannix. I read in a 24 hour period. If you like sweet stories with heart, you can’t go wrong with ‘Summer’s Reunion’. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Good story. I like stories like this where the conflict is internal… and turning to G-d in prayer as part of their just being…
