Review:
This is the first book in a new series and it has everything that I look for in a cozy: engaging characters, a relaxing setting and some mysteries to consider.
The characters are well rounded and well developed. All of the friends have lived through heartache and they are still trying to make sense of things. Kelly lost her sister, Carrie got divorced, and Nora is unhappy in her marriage. We have not met Quinn yet, but I am sure she has had heartache too. Seeing how they deal with their heartaches and grow is what makes this book so great.
The writing style flows smoothly and the book is a quick easy read. The setting was inviting and pulled me into the story from the very beginning. Trying to figure out the missing girls was challenging and if they hope to save someone from disappearing again, they will have to work fast.
I would suggest this book to anyone who enjoys a real crafted cozy mystery. I am greatly looking forward to reading the next one.
An exceptional beginning to a new trilogy by cozy mystery author Kathi Daley.
Almost a quarter century has passed since the disappearance of blonde, blue eyed, 16 year old Peggy and no one is any closer to findong ut the truth about her disapperance. Meanwhile her five best friends have grown up, raised families, carrers develop and marriages fail.
Kelly Green lost her twin to an accident, from which she had lain in a coma for a year.
The island “bad boys” of their youth have grown into responsible, and handsome, citizens.
The summer house that Kayyland Kayla’s paarents once owned is now a rental house, but their childhood furniture is still there, along with some hidden memories.
How will all of this help in figuring out what happened to Peggy, and perhaps some other missing girls over the last two decades?
This first book sets the scene and will leave you craving more.
The characters are wonderful. The setting and the house, itself, become as much clues and personalities as we dig in to figure out a very intriguing mystery that is not solved in book one alone.
Kelly Green and her twin sister, Kayla, grew up summering on an island off the coast of California. She’s now meeting three friends from those years for a reunion of what’s left of their group. Kayla has passed away and their friend, Peggy, disappeared from the island when she was 16. The four remaining women want to commemorate their lives.
Meanwhile, the new sheriff, another of the women’s friends named Sam, has found what he thinks may be a pattern while going through cold cases. Kelly winds up helping him as they try to prevent another missing teenager.
I really enjoyed this book. Kathi Daley is a wonderful author and a favorite of mine, and this book is a prime example of why. Four women who are lifelong friends meet at a time when they need each other the most. I love the characters and the emotions captured throughout are so real making this a wonderful read. I am very eager for the next book and highly recommend this one.
Can’t wait for the next book
Summerhouse Reunion earns 5/5 Police Files…Engaging Entertainment!
This first book in Kathi Daley’s Island Reunion series sends readers on a three-book journey with a compelling mystery, intriguing characters most in their forties with whom I can more easily identify, and a cliffhanger making me eager for the second installment. Kelly Green accepted an invitation to a long overdue reunion with the four remaining members of the Summer Six clique, and being back on the island has been a jar to her memories. The changes to her friends have shown the passage of time including all the memories of spending summers on the island with her twin sister who two months ago was removed from life support. It is also the twenty-fifth anniversary of the disappearance of another of her friends, and the sheriff, another friend, has stumbled on an intriguing mystery. Catching up on details of various cold cases, he found the files on that disappearance along with a pattern leading to multiple missing persons, an odd time line, and a victim profile. Kelly had been an FBI analyst and later with a tech firm, she has access to information the small sheriff department doesn’t.
Kathi’s well-written drama from Kelly Green’s perspective grabs readers right off with descriptive language, clever banter, and a fascinating introduction to the Summer Six, their past and present connections to others, and the tragedies that have befallen them over the past twenty-five years. Kelly reminisces about the summers she spent with her family, her twin sister, and although finding it bittersweet to try to move on, she does find solace and a few clues in the memories. While trying to find answers to her friend’s disappearance, the mystery focuses on connections to several cold cases (I love cold cases!) and their connections to possibly another repeat crime. It was compelling and hard to put down, but as with Kathi’s signature style, the reuniting of friends, their personal lives, weekly sailing events, and gathering at barbecues and local hangouts make it all realistic and well worth the time to get involved. The end provided a “Cool!” cliffhanger. Intriguing…but not done yet.
Great start to a 3 part story! Loved the intriguing storyline with its interesting characters. Loved the interaction between the characters and how I felt I was right there with them experiencing it all. Loved that its a story with friends banding together and helping each other with some major happenings in their lives (past and present) — stories that will definitely tug at your heartstrings. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it all turns out.
In this first book of a trilogy we meet Kelly Green. Kelly and her twin sister Kayla spent their summers on an island just off Northern California. The two sisters hung out with four other girls every summer and friendships were made. During the summer they were sixteen one those friends just disappeared and was never found. It’s twenty-five years later and Kelly is headed back to the island to spend time with the three friends that are left. She needs this time to heal, you see her twin sister has died and she feels set adrift. Her friends all have their own strifes to deal with and hopefully the friendship they each share will help in mending those hurts. Meanwhile the sheriff, that is on the island is an old friend from those days years ago, has found some interesting links between other girls who have disappeared over the years just like their friend Peggy. It looks like there is a pattern and the next girl to be taken will be happening this summer. The group begins to look into the clues that the sheriff has come across, follow along to find out what all they have come up with and where it might lead. This was a fun and emotional cozy read that will have you excited.for the next book in this series!
Loved the book. Can’t wait for the next one.
Summerhouse Reunion is book one in the Island Reunion Three Part Story series. This was a great start to a new series. I was hooked right away, and I cannot wait to read the next story. I definitely recommend it.
I didn’t realize you have to read all three books!
Summerhouse Reunion is the first book in the fantastic new Island Reunion three part series. Childhood friends reuniting, old mysteries to solve, and romance make an entertaining combination. As always, the setting and relatable characters make for an extremely enjoyable read. This story ended with a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the next two books!

By: Kathi Daley
Summerhouse Reunion is book one in a brand new series in Island Reunion. Four old friends meet up for a reunion , cold case mystery, and the start of a new series. A story of love , sacrifice, personal growth, and new beginnings. A cold case of twenty years of a young sixteen year old who disappeared . Can these friends find any new clues to their friend after twenty years ?
Summerhouse Reunion is the first installment in Kathi Daley’s Island Trilogy. The affable characters are well developed, and the well-plotted storyline flows smoothly. The author is very talented in descriptive writing, and I felt like I was right in the midst of the activities taking place and sharing the characters’ tragedies and joys. This is a fun and clean read, with a strong emphasis on caring and compassion, not only for family and friends but for the community as well. Emotions run high, so keep the tissues handy. The complex mystery encompasses cold and current cases, and the red herrings and the twists and turns will keep readers engaged and guessing.
Carrie Davidson has arranged for three of her childhood friends, Kelly Green, Nora Hargrove, and Diana “Quinn” Quinby, to return to Shipwreck Island for a long-overdue reunion and to do something to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the summer their friend, Peggy Amundson, went missing. Kelly is dealing with the recent death of her twin sister, Kayla, and her friends are each dealing with the problems life has dealt them. Kelly also reconnects with Ryder West, Carrie’s younger brother, and Sam Stone, who she’s surprised to learn is the island’s new sheriff. While going through old files left by the previous sheriff, he discovers a disturbing pattern of disappearances of sixteen-year-old girls that appears to have started with Peggy’s disappearance. Kelly, who spent a decade working as an FBI analyst, convinces Sam to let her help him review old files and look into the disappearances, and Carrie and Nora share what they know about the cases and brainstorm with Sam and Kelly.
