Excellent mystery set in Houston. Understandable characters. Unfortunately too many editorial boo-boos to really be enjoyable.
Emotionally gripping & fast-paced mystery that is a must read. Read the whole series!
Having lived in hurricane country, the book held my interest. the ending wrapped up a bit too neatly for my taste, but the story kept me engrossed.
This whole series is excellent. Didn’t want to put this book down..
A good mystery.
I liked it. The Characters were believable. I also liked it as it was not a “steamy romance novel.”
Truly believable officers. They went out of their way to crack the cases as they piled up as well as tried to help those who needed some good old fashioned luck
A company selling specialize baby formula that is for sicker infants, a doctor working with this company to support it product that is not what it is advertised. Multiple people associated with the company murdered, but made to look like accidents or suicide. Noah and Conner are the detectives investigating this case. A good novel with some twists in finding the murderer.
Nice story
Thoroughly enjoyable. You get hooked on the characters and what will happen between them. Plenty of action. There are 4 books currently in this series. Have read them all, one after another, Hard to put down once you have started the book and when you finish one you want to start the next. Best read in order.
A baby food company gets carried away with profit and people are murdered in the coverup. It was a page turner for me.
Good action, loved the characters.Keeps you interested.
A very entertaining book to read. I could not put it down. I have read 3 books in 4 days all from bookbub. I have never done that before. Summer storm is a great read. I definitely recommend this book. Non stop from page 1.
If you like great detective stories this is the book for you. You really care about the two main characters and those detectives are busy solving crimes before one goes out on paternity leave after his wife has his first child. Cannot wait to read other books by this author
Very well-written book.
I recommend this book for readers more interested in dysfunctional characters than balanced books with well-researched and developed plots. By “dysfunction” I don’t refer to the main character’s backstory that includes a beloved dead spouse or a cheating ex that has become the standard way to clear the path for romance in detective’s life. That increasingly seems to be de rigueur in the genre. In this case, I’m referring to a detective so impulsive, I could only conclude that his area was bereft of qualified candidates for law enforcement and that this was the best the local police department could do. Not that Noah Daugherty is a barrel of laughs. Would that he–or anyone–in this book would provide a respite from the melodrama.
But for as much as the relentless melodrama bothered me, what troubled me most was the poor development of an intriguing plot involving the shady illegal activities of a manufacturer of high-priced organic baby supplement. Admittedly, after devoting 3/4 of the book to complicating matters unnecessarily, Daugherty did finally settle down enough to look at the evidence and otherwise act like a real detective. But because I don’t consider melodramatic character window-dressing a prerequisite for a good mystery, it was too little too late. That said, for those who do prefer such characters over plot or a balance of the two, this might be the perfect book.
I read all four season books, very good.
I didn’t like the plot
There were enough twists and turns that you didn’t expect the person that was responsible for the murders.
Good read
