#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER In the summer of 1977, Victoria Leonard’s world changes forever when Caitlin Somers chooses her as a friend. Dazzling, reckless Caitlin welcomes Vix into the heart of her sprawling, eccentric family, opening doors to a world of unimaginable privilege, sweeping her away to vacations on Martha’s Vineyard, an enchanting place where the two friends become “summer … friends become “summer sisters.”
Now, years later, Vix is working in New York City. Caitlin is getting married on the Vineyard. And the early magic of their long, complicated friendship has faded. But Caitlin begs Vix to come to her wedding, to be her maid of honor. And Vix knows that she will go—because she wants to understand what happened during that last shattering summer. And, after all these years, she needs to know why her best friend—her summer sister—still has the power to break her heart.

Summer Sisters is my perpetual go-to for in-depth entertainment, which makes it perfect for the beach. While it may seem like a YA read on the surface, dive further and you will discover intricate layers of treasure packed with poignant plots, progressive characters, complicated families, tears, laughs, hot and sweet guys and just the right …
I read this book when it was first published years ago but picked it up again for another turn a few days ago. I love reading writers who want to give the reader a visceral experience. I will say though, now that I’m older, and lived a lot and met all sorts of people, I find just about all the characters annoying. BUT that’s me judging them, …
I liked the book. It was easy to read and fast moving. It was a happy, sad, funny book all at the same time. Some things were predictable but some had you saying, “I can’t believe she did that “. Good beach read!
It was thought provoking
Not the best of her stories. One of the characters is just plain odd and not likable. The setting at the beginning is not appropriate to family money; the house is uncomfortably dirty. Not a place or a relationship I would have pursued as a youngster. Just felt like she was trying too hard with this book.
The teenage relationships in this book shows the ups and downs of life. I read this in high school then again as an adult. You can relate to most things in this book.
This is one of the few books I’m able to re-read again and again (usually every summer). I find it very truthful, and genuine. Not only that but it reminds me to lose myself to the Summer Time and to relax, enjoy, experiment. The characters are all people who we can find in our everyday lives as well, and it helps you to come to term with certain …
The book was enjoyable to read… parts were a little annoying but overall a good easy read
I enjoyed the book. It is not your usual beach read, but I couldn’t put it down.
Just a regular beach read. Predictable.
This awesome Judy Blume book for adults is the best book she’s ever written. The characters are flawed, but likable, and the relationship between the two friends can definitely be described as realistic, when you have two different personalities such as Caitlin and Victoria. I highly recommend this book. I have read it no less than 20 times, and I …
raunchy
Whatever Judy Blume writes is fabulous.I have read her books for children and for adults. She is very ecclectic in her ability to communicate deep feelings and to connect you with her characters.
Judy Blume just can’t go wrong. All of her books have touched my life in some ways over the years. Always glad to read another one. .
Always looking forward to the next one.
Loved this story . Read whole book on a drive home.
A definitely mormore adult take on growing up from Blume. She writes with ease and makes you feel for a character even if they dont necessarily deserve it. If you want to reminisce to your own adolescence and times you shared with your own bestfriend growing up, she can certainly take you there.
I love Judy Blume. She’s a wonderful writer.
Great read
Just a really good Summer read. It is about friendship and how people from different worlds can care for each other.
Great summer read!
