Summer Princess is the re-launch of a book previously published as A Princess’s Duty.
Although the main plot remains the same, the book has been rewritten, some scenes have been changed and others have been deleted. Scenes extremely dark from the previous book focused on other characters of minor importance to the narrative have been removed. And in fact, they were not missed. They only diminished the aura of sadism and cruelty around the king of the Winter Court, and also removed his prominence, which makes sense and makes the book balanced. In this new version, the book remains focused on Emília and Cade, and on how the facts of the past and present make their relationship complex, their feelings confused and their future uncertain.
Two kingdoms. Barbarian customs. Constant wars. And five teenagers. Five friends and a night that will change their lives forever. Love will become hate. The ceasefire will end. Lives will be taken and souls will be destroyed.
Emilia Daaker is one of the princesses at the Summer Court, who never accepted some of the customs and traditions of her kind at the Seelie Court and will suffer even more from the mourning and the impact of the event on her family. And a forbidden love will make her face feelings relegated to the past again. In order to save the one she loves and set her brother Erion free, she must convince her first love and today worst enemy, Prince Cade Vasara of the Winter Court, to marry her.
Emilia will learn that not everything is as it seems. She will mature, discover the meaning of true love and how difficult some decisions are and some inevitable consequences. An engaging and intense narrative, full of conflicts, controversial emotions, a touch of mystery and a jaw-dropping twist.
Summer Princess (Dark Fae Book 1)
By Sloane Murphy
5 out of 5 stars
The story Summer Princess (Dark Fae Book 1) by Sloane Murphy is a paranormal/dark fantasy book. It is a story that had me hooked from the start and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the last page. It is a story that includes secrets, betrayal, and family ties. I enjoyed reading about the character of Emilia Daarke. She is a young woman who has fallen for the wrong person and finds herself being manipulated into a deadly game. Emilia is headstrong and independent. Will she be able to save the one that she loves? Cade Vasara is still in love with Emelia. He finds himself having to choose between his love for her and his duties. What does the future hold for Emilia and Cade? Read this book to find out. This story has some dark themes and very emotional moments. There are heartbreaking moments that left me angry with what was happening and also feeling for Emilia and what she is having to go through. There are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and I was always wondering what was going to happen or be revealed next. This is a story that you don’t want to miss out on. Highly recommended reading.
Summer Princess by Sloane Murphy is such a wonderful story to read. This is book number one in this start to a brand new series that I have loved reading and can not wait to read more. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy, dark and paranormal romance.

It was definitely different. I had trouble understanding the story…It never explained why certain “fae” were dark and how they “succumbed to the darkness “. It was assumed there was “darkness..and evil” and some fae were that.. but where it came from idk ..it never explained how and why.. Also i couldn’t feel the chemistry with our leads. The main heroine was hard to respect; Her parents belittle her, abuse her and mistreated her so many times and yet she always was shocked when it happened… when by now she shouldn’t be. There were a few highlights and big scenes that had me rooting for the heroine ..i just wished it showed some character growth and more explanation with the whole darkness thing.
Fast paced with so many twists and turns. I think I have “book lash” and was constantly on the edge of my seat and I’m looking forward to continuing the ride. The end caught me completely by surprise! No spoilers as I want you to enjoy the rollercoaster as much as I did.
I really liked this story. The characters were fun and interesting and the story just drew me in and kept me reading to the end. I loved the Fae world and it mix of action, danger, politics, and questions throughout it. Had to see how it would end. Loved Cade and Emilia and the twists.
I liked this emotional, angsty, dark and twisted Fae fantasy; however I am not a fan of cliffhanger endings that are not forewarned in the book’s description (and this book has a doozy!) Fortunately, the second book just came out so I don’t have to wait to find out what happens. This book is intriguing, with good world building and complex, compelling characters. Their are plenty of twists and turns, along with secrets, betrayal, and drama, to keep you intrigued and frantically turning pages to see what happens next.

I really liked the plot. I went in thinking that it was
going to be solely about one thing, and I was
totally surprised when it wasn’t. Even though
the main characters friendship and relationship
was strained, their chemistry wasn’t. I loved that
you’re left with a cliffhanger because there’s still
some things that need to be answered…
But that ending, I was totally not expecting it. Can’t
wait to read “Winter King.”
5+ How come i did not find this book before now? I just learned that this is a re-release of a previous book from this author. It was Brilliant!! Loved, loved this story. So much is happening in A Summer Princess that i didn’t want it to end. I will absolutly pick up the next book Winter King. And you should read this series it’s so so good!

Before I begin my review for Summer Princess (Dark Fae book one) by Sloane Murphy, I would personally like to thank the author, publishers and Booksprout for the opportunity to read this ARC and I have reviewed it honestly.
Emilia has fallen in love with a being deemed lesser then the fae. When her father catches her with her lover and threatens his life, Emilia must return to the Winter Court and woo the Prince who destroyed her life. But the deadly game has just begun as past mistakes burn between the childhood sweethearts, secrets are exposed and sinister plots are about to begin…
Summer Princess features, but is not limited to, the following themes:
YA fantasy
Fae royalty
Forbidden love
Corrupt kings
Love triangle
War
Abuse
My overall rating for Summer Princess is…
3 Stars!
This book had so much potential, but it just didn’t work for me! The blurb drew me in for an exciting and romantic tale, but what I read was dull and uninspiring. I craved more character interaction but when I got it was awkward and rushed. As I said, this story has a lot of room for improvement, however I do think some people will love it as it is. Have a read and decide for yourself!
Summer Princess (Dark Fae Book 1) by Sloane Murphy – Review by Makaela Patterson
This is a good book to read. It is a very enjoyable page tuner. When compared to others I have read. This book takes you on an emotional journey filled with passion and despair, as you start to learn the characters. You are instantly drawn to the storyline. The unexpected ending is somewhat baffling but memorable. Definitely series worthy as a reader I don’t want to be left hanging on to what happens next.
I recently read Summer Princess Dark Fae book 1 and have to say it is quite a good book. Emilia is a smart, sassy female who takes life head on. Even through adversity and heartbreak, she keeps her head up high. Cade, the dark prince, who does everything he can to protect those that he loves and cares for, does his best to take life as it comes. Their stories are a wild and crazy ride that just gets better with each turn of the page. The twists and turns, and ups and downs make this book truly mesmerizing. I can’t wait to see where their stories carry them.
Wow! This story is so interesting! It’s a real struggle to put this down. There is so much packed into this shorter read. The story just blew my mind! It’s very inventive. The way the story winds around these these main characters lives. I had high-Highs and low-Lows. I grew to love them but surviving the shock of what they became was hard.
The ending Isn’t my fav. There is a bit of a cliffhanger that I’m sure leads into the next book. Other than that the story was great. The writing is smooth and easily drew me in. The characters were fun and serious. I am glad I took a chance and picked this one up. I look forward to the next in this series.
This is a dark fantasy that I really enjoyed. The development of the main character Emilia was done well, and I loved the intrigue and motives of the other characters. In places the flow of the plot felt a bit rushed and there could have been more world-building, but ultimately for me it comes down to character. And what a cliffhanger?! Will definitely read the next book.
I really enjoyed this book. It had me turning page after page because I was pulled in and couldn’t get enough. This is a dark fantasy story that left me wanting more! The author was able to write in a way that made me feel like I was right there in the story with the characters and the attention to detail made it even better. Go ahead and dive on in to see the story of Emilia and Cade and all the secrets their lives hold. I am looking forward to reading more by this author asap!
Happy Reading!

Why, oh why haven’t I discovered Ms. Murphy’s books before now? I am kicking myself for missing out all this time!!!
Summer Princess is the first book in the Dark Fae series by Sloane Murphy. I loved this story, and absolutely can not wait for the release of Book #2. I don’t know if it is even been written yet- but I am willing to camp out in the author’s yard just to get snippets as they come!!! And don’t get me started on the ending- OMG!!! The mother of all cliff-hanger’s…. I definitely didn’t see that coming. SO well woven, and cleverly crafted!!! Well played Ms. Murphy! Well Played indeed!
I must admit that it took me a little bit to warm to Emilia as she irked me somewhat in the beginning. But I soon found myself caught up in the story, following along avidly- and on “team Amelia” all the way!
This is definitely darker than I expected- even with the hint in the form of the series title “Dark Fae”- I still didn’t catch on lol. The darker elements gave this story added intrigue- and made for riveting reading. I so want to divulge everything in this book that caught my attention and had me so engrossed- but I really don’t want to spoil it for you. All I can say is that if you love a great fantasy story- with interesting characters, a riveting storyline- and cleverly crafted intrigue, and twists and turns- then you really don’t want to miss out on reading this book!!!
Bring on Book #2!!!
Now to explore the rest of Ms. Murphy’s work while I wait…
Thank you, Sloane Murphy!
Summer Princess (Dark Fae Book 1) by Sloane Murphy
5-Stars
Summer Princess (Dark Fae Book 1) by Sloane Murphy was an excellent read. At times it was dark and others it was sweet and light. I was hooked from the start and could not set this book down. I finished it in one go! I loved the characters in this novel and the growth they each experienced as the story progressed. I was definitely thrown and devastated with the plot twist in the book. I can’t wait for the next book. I also really enjoyed the creative world the author made for the story. I highly recommend this novel.
What a great read! First of all the cover drew me in first then to read the synopsis had me even more intrigued. Sloane Murphy is a new author for me but her writing had me hooked from the very beginning. She has created a storyline that is mentally visual and vivid. She has created characters that have depth, are strong and relatable. I was kept hooked with this read and I couldn’t stop turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Being a dark fantasy read I was looking forward to being taken into this world, I was on the edge of my seat with anticipation, this book is full of secrets, betrayal, lies, suspense, adventure and love and to top it all off, we have an ending like that! I can’t wait to see what else this author brings and I will be eagerly awaiting the next book!

I don’t know how to talk up this book without giving away too much So I’ll try the mean character is a twin Her brother Edimere is her twin and she has an older brother Erion. You won’t be able to predict what’s going to happen next!
Summer Princess (Dark Fae Book 1) by Sloane Murphy is a dark paranormal fantasy book. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddd the ending, DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! Absolute total surprise and colour me Gobsmacked, very clever Sloane, very clever. The plot is very well thought out and cleverly orchestrated. There are some pretty barbaric and gruesome ways of the people of the world in which Sloane has created but you are unable to put it down.
They were all friends as children until a cruel and vicious execution of one of their own tore them apart. It seems what they have seen in front of them is certainly all a lie.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I will certainly be following up on other works.
