Summer on Moonlight Bay
By: Hope Ramsay
*REVIEW*
Summer on Moonlight Bay is a sweet story. Set in a charming town with nosy gossips, because you can’t escape them anywhere, it is beautifully rendered with lovely detail. Noah and Leah are both in town for different complicated reasons. Noah doesn’t want to stay, though, and he’s trying to convince his family to move back to Charleston with him. Then he meets a girl. Is it love at first sight? Nope. Noah is a vet, and Leah brings him an injured stray. They disagree about this dog, but of course, there is an underlying attraction that both feel. Leah is out of the Navy with her own troubles to contend with, and a dog is just more to worry about. Will these two reconcile their differences and become better acquainted? Will their baggage claim them? See what I did there? It’s a tale of love, loss, heartbreak and hope filled with colorful characters. Noah and Leah are both so likeable, relatable and entertaining. Their dialogue is witty and engaging. I wanted all good things for them. It’s a heart warming and thoughtfully designed story for romance readers to delight in and enjoy. It has all the feels! Thank you to Forever and Grand Central Publishing for a complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is another wonderful book by Ms. Ramsay. I have enjoyed her books for many years and was not disappointed in the story of Lia and Noah. The story has humor, romance, a little violence (although not graphic), coming to terms with oneself, animals, family, woman power, faith and of course, small town eccentricities.
Noah is a veterinarian who doesn’t own a pet. That should tell you right there that he has some things he struggles with. Lia was on protection service for military chaplains until she froze in a dangerous situation. Now she doesn’t feel like she deserves much, certainly not the dog she helped save as she came into Moonlight Bay for the first time. Although the two are attracted to each other there is nowhere for it to go, because Noah is leaving town again. If Lia can help him work out his problems with his family, will he stay? Will they have a chance at a relationship then? And Liamay have to prove to herself how strong she is and deserving of good things in life, like Noah and the dog.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Comforting, charming, and sweet!
Summer on Moonlight Bay is a heartwarming, engaging story that reminds us that sometimes it’s nice to make roots, settle down, and find a place to call home.
The writing is fluid and warm. The setting is the idyllic Magnolia Harbor, South Carolina with its quaint town and sandy beaches. The characters including the spirited, kindhearted Lia, the helpful, handsome Noah, and the adorably cute Prince are lovable, fun, and unique. And the plot is a lighthearted, uplifting journey about life, love, family, friendship, reconnecting with the past, healing, self-discovery, and happiness.
Overall, Summer on Moonlight Bay is a delightfully clever, amusing tale by Ramsay with a splendid cast of characters, beautiful locale, delicious romance, and a dab of drama that makes it the perfect pick for any sunny day.
Very sweet, heartwarming, fun and engaging romantic journey filled with lots of small town goodness, intriguing charters, family, friends and exciting passion… was an emotionally thrilling adventure that was so hard to stop reading. Highly entertaining summer read!
Hope Ramsay is one of my favorite feel good authors. She has a grasp of the emotions of her characters. I very much enjoyed this return to Magnolia Harbor.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
Hope Ramsay has done it again, such a great book. This author never seems to let me down when I read one of her books. The two main characters in this story are total opposites but have a connection which makes this an easy read. The woman is a total badass and can take care of herself but is looking for Mr. Right and see definitely finds him. Noah has his own struggles but he finds himself falling fast. In the end they both have closure with their past issues and come together being stronger.
Summer on Moonlight Bay brings you into the lives of Noah and Lia, both of whom are about to embark on live changing journeys… ones that might just intertwine a little. Lia is fresh out of the service and looking for a new start, coming to town solely because of a friends love of the little town. She often heard him telling stories about Magnolia Harbor, and they left her just curious enough to pack her meager belongings and see if she could love it too. But along the way into town she finds an injured puppy and knows she needs to help him in any way she can… which has her showing up on veterinarian Noah Cuthbert’s doorstep begging for help. Noah is in town to help a relative take care of some things, but his grandmother has other plans for him, she wants him to return home permanently, and take over the local veterinarian office, rather than run off back to the big city. Which he wants no part of at all…
That first meeting is filled with tension, but a few sparks make an appearance too, and it leaves them both more than a little nervous. Neither are in a good place to start anything serious, or looking for love for that matter, but sometimes love finds you rather you want it to or not!
The pages of Summer on Moonlight Bay will bring you a emotional and heartfelt story brimming with swoons and feels! This first time visit to the Moonlight Bay series was an memorable one, the residents were quite welcoming and the story they had to tell me was so good for my heart and quite satisfying. If you love small town romances this is one you should add to your reading list, it comes with all the small town charm you could want, and as soon as you meet the characters there you will never want to leave them, their irresistible! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Another delightful small town romance by a delightful author. Noah and Lia fell quickly but stumbled along the way to their romance. Throw in Prince and extended family and you have a charming story and one which I hope to read about more in this series
Anytime I have ever read anything by this author I just never know what I am going to get, and it’s always a fun surprise. This book was very much the same way. The author held nothing back, in this book she has the characters face some very tough situations and where I have read some books will just glaze over the topics, not this author she has the characters take it head on and its a no holds bar. I like that while Lia and Noah are both facing the past and trying to tackle their own demons neither is so wound up in there self that they can’t help other in the small town of Magnolia Harbor. in every small town you have the “gossip” biddies and they very much were active in this story which added fun and craziness to the story. I so cant wait to read more from Magnolia Harbor after reading this book I can’t decide who’s story I want to read next I feel there are a ton more to come. You really can’t go wrong with this book grab it you won’t regret it. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
Lia finds herself homeless and jobless, she was encouraged to leave the navy early, she thought she’d be a lifer but a badly handle situation she finds herself at loose ends. Lia was use to moving around and military life suited her well, now everything she has is packed in her car and she’s headed to a small seaside town a past CO had talked about growing up it, didn’t hurt that’s where he settled. Hoping to rely on his standing in the community Lia decides to surprised him and show up. But reading this book nothing ever goes smoothly for Lia and her gut instincts.
Noah’s only in Magnolia Harbor to pack up is mom and sister and take them back to Charleston, not there to become the vet at the new clinic, not there take care of the town’s animals, not there to make peace with his father and not there to fall in love with the newly arrived woman with the injured pup. Nope, just convince his mom to leave, send his sister off to college, easy–yeah, right!
A wonderful sweet story of self forgiveness, heart opening and finding a home. Fun read with great characters!
I loved this passionately told story set in Magnolia Harbor. Hope Ramsay put her heart and soul into this story and it shows. I wish the town was real because I want to move there and meet the characters that touched my heart.
Lia DiPalma and Noah Cuthbert seem like lost souls until they meet. Lia, a veteran who has left the Navy is strong but vulnerable. She is lonely and desperately wants to put down roots and to find a place for the first time in her life to call home. Her character will pull you right into the story.
Then there is Noah Cuthbert, a veterinarian who left Magnolia Harbor as soon as he could and moved to Charleston. Fate in the form of a little puppy brings him to the new vet clinic on the island and into the life of Lia.
I enjoyed the inn keeper at the Howland House, her son, and resident pirate ghost, who needs to save lost souls to get to heaven. There is also the tale behind Noah’s mom, who has MS and his dad whom he has been estranged from for a long time. His parents are divorced.
There is also Chaplain St. Pierre, who worked in the Navy with Lia. He is now pastor at a church and the ladies of the church are trying to fix him up with Lia because they believe he should be married. This creates some humorous fun.
This book is a romantic tale of love, hope, people finding themselves, cute animals, and dealing with and recovering from past hurts in order to heal the loneliness and finally finding a place to call home. The book is full of wonderful characters for the reader to fall in love with and there are so many different events in the book to keep you turning the pages to find out what will happen next. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This was a fun book to read—great characters and endearing quirkiness! Noah doesn’t want to stay in Magnolia Harbor and Lia can’t imagine leaving so what does fate do? It throws these two together in so many ways that their attraction can’t be denied. I loved how empathetic Lia was-complete with her very own “spidey sense”. Noah had to learn how to forgive-both himself and his father-in order for love to blossom. This story was a much needed breath of fresh air—whimsical, flirty, hopeful and fun.
This story is set in Magnolia Harbor a small town with a close community. Lia leaves the Navy after 15 years and decides to move here where her Navy chaplin grew up. The Church group try to set her up with the Chaplin but they are just friends. she mets a Vet that is there visiting his mother and sister to try and get them to move home with him. Lia found a puppy that was injured and since there wasn’t an acting vet there she took the dog to him to help. This book kept my attention throughout it is a good romance with wonderful characters and story. Hope there will be more books about this town.
This is an author I’ve read for years, and I know I can count on her for a delightful, heart-warming, small-town romance. She hasn’t disappointed me yet, and this second book in the Moonlight Bay Series, set in a place near to my heart, the South Carolina coast, is another beautifully crafted story. With just the right amount of detail and color, the setting is realistic, vivid and full of life, setting the scene perfectly.
Lia DiPalma has been on the move all her life. She’s no longer a part of the family she’s been with the longest, the US Navy, and finds herself headed to the small town of Magnolia Harbor on the coast of South Carolina. Her Commanding Officer, Chaplain Micah St. Pierre, always spoke fondly of his home town, which piqued Lia’s curiosity. Micah now has a church of his own in his home town and Lia hopes to convince him to hire her as the church secretary. She’s loyal, compassionate, organized and intuitive – all things that can be helpful to him in his parish.
Before Lia can even make it to town, she finds an injured puppy and takes him to the town’s veterinary clinic, only to find it’s not open because they don’t have a doctor. But the kind older lady who answers the door calls her grandson, Noah Cuthbert, a veterinarian visiting from Charleston, to treat the puppy, and Lia and Noah’s first meeting is less than positive. Noah is only in town long enough to move his mother, who has MS, to Charleston so he can take care of her. He swore he wouldn’t return to Magnolia Harbor for anything more than a short visit, but he finds himself agreeing to work at the clinic temporarily, with Lia as his office manager until the church board decides on the secretary position.
As is typical with this author, this story is so much more than a romance. With small-town quirks, well-intended scheming, broken family bonds and secrets that come to light, it’s a story of courage, determination, growth, forgiveness, healing and finding home. I adored these endearing, authentic characters and felt a part of the story as I watched Lia and Noah mend, self-actualize, find forgiveness and love. If you’re looking for a poignant, heartwarming, inspiring read this summer, look no farther.

This is the second book in the Moonlight Bay Series, and I fell in love with Lia. Fresh out of the Navy Lia is in search of a place to settle down. The quaint town of Moonlight Bay fits the bill. Noah is back home due to his moms illness, with plans to move her and his sister back to Charleston with him. This book can definitely be read as a stand alone book. A very well written book, and I am sure others will enjoy it as much as I did.
I had not read any books by this author, and when given the opportunity, I decided to give her a try. I am so glad I did.
The story centers around Lia DePalma and Noah Cuthbert. Lia recently left the Navy and is traveling to the hometown of the chaplain she was assigned to protect, and Noah is in town to move his Mom that has MS and his young sister to Charleston, where he can take care of them.
One is looking to find stability and a home while the other only has bad memories and wants to leave as soon as he can take his loved ones away.
As the story progresses, we realize it’s a story about how the incidents that occur in our childhood do in fact mold us as adults. That sometimes what we assume is not always true, and that we need to face our past in order to really live our present and our future.
It’s a story that at times is heartbreaking and at others heartwarming. A story about the ins and out of small time living and the characters that make that town.
It’s also a story about finding that inner peace and love.
This is a very well written story with complex characters that will engage you from the momemt you open the book. I am looking forward to more stories by this talented author.
