Sparks fly between an L.A. career woman and a former Army Ranger in this delightful enemies-to-lovers romance from the USA Today bestselling queen of small-town love stories. Welcome to Highland Falls, a small town where love is always in the air. In just a few months Abby Everhart has gone from being a top LA media influencer to an unemployed divorcée living out of her car. So inheriting … gone from being a top LA media influencer to an unemployed divorcée living out of her car. So inheriting her great-aunt’s homestead comes at the perfect time. Abby heads to Highland Falls, North Carolina, to spruce up Honeysuckle Farm before putting it on the market for some much-needed cash. But instead of finding a charming getaway, she discovers a serious fixer-upper, complete with a leaky roof, overgrown yard, and a reclusive — albeit sexy — man living on the property.
Heartfelt and delightful.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but I will be looking forward to reading more of her books in the future.
Abby is so much more than what she initially appears. Coming from L.A., divorced and trounced on by her ex-husband and his scheming girlfriend, losing all that she had; but learning what she has overcome makes her much more likeable and easier to understnad. What she did to cause a scandal at her ex’s company makes her even more admirable. I loved watching her evolution throughout the book. Huter is a brooding alpha hero with a gentle side and a tortured soul. He and Abby initially hate one another, but eventually realize that they’re really good for each other. Hopefully we’ll see more of them in the future.
This was a new series by Debbie and she did an fabulous job on it. The characters went together very well and the setting was great. Abby Everhart got a letter that her great aunt had passed away. That was very odd because she never had anything to do with her father or his family. So that was where she had a Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge. It was emotional summer nobody liked her but she was bound and determined to sell the Honeysuckle Farm and go back to LA. But there was one problem she had to buy out the man who had part of Honeysuckle Farm.
Hunter was a man that was one who didn’t want to be bothered but he did own the other part of the farm. He helped her fix up the farmhouse and get it ready to be sold. But the more he was around her the more he was starting to like her.
People who knew her aunt Liz loved her and thought that Abby didn’t know nothing about her. With every investigating she did in the house she found more things about her aunt. She found her journals and she read them slow because of what she went through as a child.
The more and more things went on at Honeysuckle farm the more interesting the book got. She learned about the Highlanders.
The more I read the more I couldn’t stop each time I picked up.
This was an adventure of a summer that you will laugh in some spots and cry in others Debbie did keep it so you interested and kept you so you didn’t get lost.
Sweetly sexy, fun, emotionally thrilling and action packed journey filled with engaging charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and exciting passion. Was a great and heartwarming journey from the beginning to the end.
Ohhh my!!!! My first thoughts after I finished this book was oh wow! I need more!!! The story ends with such a great HEA. I mean seriously I need book 2 in the series NOW. I wasn’t sure what to expect. The blurb sounded good but you never know. Then I started reading and I honestly didn’t want to stop. This is one of those stories where you’ll want to hid in the bathroom for hours so you can read and somehow don’t be interrupted. Yes it’s one of those reads. I didn’t know how it would end, I worried that I’d end up being so caught up in these peoples’ lives and end up with a cliff-hanger or an unsatisfying HEA…but author Debbie Mason did a great job. From beginning to end I loved everything from the hero and heroine to the characters around them to the town of Highland Falls. It helps that the book is set in NC I mean seriously I always love stories set in NC….but Highland Falls…..man I need to visit this little mountain town. I still chuckle over some scenes just remembering them as I write this review. The story is well-written, engaging and delightful on all levels. The characters are realistic, funny, at times eye-rolling worthy, and so very awesome you’ll wish they were real. Fans of small town romances with outstanding characters and heartfelt story will love SUMMER ON HONEYSUCKLE RIDGE. This is one of those that you want to run out and buy tons of copies and give to strangers on the street. It’s that good. Pick up your copy today….just be prepared you’ll be ready for book 2(when can I read it???) and you’ll be ready to hid somewhere and just read. You’ll fall in love with the setting and the characters. I highly recommend SUMMER ON HONEYSUCKLE RIDGE to EVERYONE. Don’t miss this one!!!
Book Review: Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge- Highland Falls Series (Book 1)
by author, Debbie Mason
Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge is a tender hearted tale that also deals with the bitter side of what life can bring by way of divorce, and what one must do to move on and begin again….even if there’s nothing left to begin with.
Alone and broken, a run down inherited farmhouse awaits Abby Everhart in the fictitious town of Highland Falls in North Carolina. What she’s not prepared for, connected to this inheritance, is a man named Hunter. Their troubles and personalities could not be further on the spectrum of opposites. Like oil and water. Or are they.
Life is turned upside down and inside out as these characters learn to navigate through their pasts, and on to a refreshing change from loss, tragedy and circumstance, as they begin working together instead of against their unique situation.
Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge will entertain with it’s humorous misadventures, what can happen when two lives are thrown together through the ebb and flow of life experience, and the sparks of romance as the stars align in the small mountain town known as Highland Falls.
A nice weekend read for those looking for the quirky, amusing, wholesome and sweet.

OMG! Abby Everhart will having you laughing and smiling. She is the queen of positivity. Life has handed her some knockouts but she is not out. Hunter Mackenzie just wants to be left alone. He wants to create his sculptures. Little did the two of them know that Liz Findlay was going to play matchmaker from the grave. Add in Bella, Abby’s little dog and Hunter’s Wolf and you have more antics. They are totally opposites. She is girly and he is rugged, just like their pets. The sparks are flying. When you think all is lost, her family, friends and townspeople come together to make everything to turn out the way they are supposed to.
I am already in love with this series, and it’s only just begun. ‘Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge‘ brings two very unlikely people together in a push-pull, enemies to friends to lovers type of trope – but mostly it’s two people who are wounded in different ways finding their way back into a full life because of one property and the sparks that ignite off of each other whenever they’re in the same space.
Let’s be frank. Abby can be annoying. She’s been done so wrong that her trust issues are through the roof. She’s a chatterbox when nervous, she’s a bit of a klutz, and she just wants to sell this run-down house she’s inherited and go back to prove to her ex what a gem he let go. Great plan, except life, doesn’t happen that way and Hunter will play a huge part in changing her mind.
My heart broke over Hunter. He’s been through so much yet, this city girl with her chatter and her anger is so tempting. Sparks fly between them and maybe they are exactly what the other needs to get back into life again. It’s going to take some work, even if being with Abby is the easiest thing he’s ever done, he has to convince her to stay, to trust him enough to stay. Watching them work their way through the potholes of life, trust each other enough to fall in love was such a delightful journey.
Sure, there’s a bit of world-building. It’s the first story in a series so I expect that but I wasn’t overwhelmed, in fact, I was definitely charmed by this quirky small-town, by characters who are so realistic and believable. The ‘Highland Falls‘ series is off to a great start with a romance that tugged on my heartstrings, made me smile, and introduced so many new characters, dogs included, into my life – I’m definitely looking forward to a return visit soon.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
What a fun, entertaining start to a new series by the amazing Debbie Mason!!! Abby and Hunter had such great chemistry together, they really brought out the best in one another. I loved everything about this story and I can’t wait to read more in this series!!!
Loved it! This is a wonderful heartwarming romance that touched my heart as well as my funny bone. Complete opposites, Abby and Hunter are two characters you can’t help but cheer for. The story has a slow easy pace and all the characters are well developed. Some of the secondary characters should give us some fun future stories. I for one can’t wait. I definitely recommend this one.
The start of Debbie Mason’s new series set in Highland Falls has one of my favorite heroines of the year. Abby is sweet and silly, and not without her challenges. I thought things fell apart a bit towards the end, but still well worth the read.
Thrilled to receive a copy in exchange for my honest review!
This was such a delightful read ! I loved ABBY & Hunters story!!! What a great way to start this series with such a strong brave Heroine ! ABBY and Hunter have that great angsty chemistry! This book is filled with sweet , funny , tender & hilarious moments ! What a beautiful ending it has & I’m so excited for the next one because of how Debbie set this series up ..: it’s going to be another must have series !!
I loved this book! I don’t believe I’ve read this author before but I’m glad I found her. This was a wonderful romance that left me in happy tears. There was some mystery, lots of laughs, and a few angry moments where you felt bad for all of the crap that people piled on Abby. Abby is so sweet and lovable and the perfect match for the gruff, HOT Hunter. I love the setting of the Highlands of NC. They always seem so otherwordly and beautiful when reading about them. I really enjoyed the relationships between the different groups of women too. I can’t wait to read more about Highland Falls.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.
Summer on Honeysuckle Ridge was so good! I loved Hunter’s gruff demeanor, and Abby was adorable. She’s accident-prone and chatters nonstop, which drives Hunter crazy. The time they spent together was amusing and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. I can’t wait for the next Highland Falls book, and I hope that it includes a visit to Honeysuckle Farm so that I can get an update on Abby and Hunter!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy from NetGalley.
This book had me laughing and smiling as I read it. It felt so good to get lost in the author’s humor with her fun characters, especially Abby Everhart. The accident waiting to happen girl. There was also romance with sexy Hunter, many twists and turns, as well as, surprises and the ability for Abby to turn her life around and discover who she really was and what she wanted. It was also interesting to watch Hunter evolve and deal with his past. There were so many other characters to like too. This book has something for everyone from romance to mystery to comedy. I cannot wait to see hat happens in the next book! I received and advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This book was entertaining, fun and lighthearted. Abby is a former YouTube star down on her luck. She inherits her aunt’s farm and decides to stay there until she can sell it and get back on her feet. She arrives to find she had a neighbor. Hunter is former military and a definite loner. The two clash from the start as Abby tries to deal with her aunt’s home.
I liked this book. Abby was a bit much to take at times and the story jumped around a bit but it was overall entertaining and a nice escape read. I really liked Hunter and thought he was well-written. I would recommend this quick, small-town read to anyone who is looking for a light-hearted romance or women’s fiction.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for an ARC of this book. The opinions here are my own.
Abby Everhart’s life was going pretty well until she learned her husband was cheating on her and wanted a divorce. She has gone from having money and being a top media influencer to being homeless and out of options. With her marriage over, no home or money to speak of Abby is excited to learn that her great-aunt has left her a home and some property. She can’t wait to put it up for sale so she’ll have some money and a start to her new future. When she reaches her destination of Highland Falls, North Carolina her world is turn upside down again. The beautiful home she thought she would be selling is actually quite the fixed upper. The yard is overgrown, the roof is leaky, and it appears that a man is living in said property. Hunter can’t believe the young woman that has shown up to claim his old friends property. She left most of the land to her niece but gave Hunter the building he lives in and it’s surrounding land. Hunter, who is an ex-soldier, just wants to be left alone. The war changed him and he wants to live a solitary life without any undo interruptions. Sparks fly when the two meet, Hunter doesn’t want to aid this helpless woman but he can’t help himself. Abby doesn’t want to like this grizzly man that has come into her life but the feelings that keep popping up make it hard. Neither of the two want to make huge changes, both have feelings that aren’t easily set aside but life has a way of taking a hold an doing as it pleases. Follow as these two soon learn that they need each other to heal and maybe starting over isn’t such a bad thing. This was a truly lovely read that had me in stitches one minute and tears the next, I love the emotional ride it took me on and look forward to what comes next. The characters were well written, the location beautiful, and the story line easy to become a part of.
Life is often not fair and can really throw you some curves. Abby seems to have had more than her share of obstacles to deal with. From a parent who leaves her to a cheating husband to a town who seems to hate her. She and her sidekick Bella may just be stronger than she thinks she is. As is often the case when you get something for free, it’s not quite what you expected. Follow along with Abby and see the road her life takes. You’ll get to meet a lot of interesting people along the way. Hunter, Owen, Sadie, and Eden are just a few. I loved visiting Highland Falls and these wonderful folks. I hope I can hang with them again sometime. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.
Abby Everhearts, Life was being turned upside down. Going from popular city girl. With the fame the money the the Husband..
Till the Cheating husband.
Takes it away.
Abby has decided to go North Carolina, to fix up and sale the farm she’s inherited from her Great aunt…
But Falling in love with Highland Falls wasn’t something she and her little dog had in mind.
There’s More to North Carolina than the Farm. There’s those
Hot Men in kilts. The woods. Friends . Much More.
