Life in a small town can be tough. It can be even tougher when you’re a witch whose magic regularly backfires. But Summer Thorne only wants one thing: to create the perfect sanctuary for unwanted animals. Nothing and no one is going to stop her. Not even the sexy sheriff who is determined to shut down her rescue center. And certainly not the laboratory where she illegally obtained her mischievous … mischievous chimpanzee, Morty.
Sheriff Cooper Carlyle has one goal: to keep his town safe. That includes his stubborn neighbor, Summer, whether she wants him to or not. When the animals of Summer’s menagerie get loose and create havoc, he decides enough is enough. But things aren’t always as they appear, and Coop stumbles upon the secret the Thorne sisters have been hiding.
Coop and Summer discover Morty holds the key to unlock a twenty-year-old mystery surrounding the death of Summer’s mother. Now Coop is faced with breaking the law he is sworn to uphold in order to protect Summer and her beloved pet from a threat more dangerous than any of them imagined.

I LOVE this book what awesome characters, emotional story. You wont be able to out it down!!!! Such a fantastic start to a new Series cant wait for MORE……
Summer Magic by T.M. Cromer is a paranormal romance. I’ve read and loved all of T.M. Cromer’s books. When I learned her next book would be a paranormal my first thought was NO! Then I found out it was a witch book and I thought…I don’t like witch books. So for a whole minute I was sad. But then the faith I have in this author kicked in and I decided to give Summer Magic a chance. And it’s, in one word, awesome. Ms. Cromer has once again surprised and delighted me with her outstanding characters. Summer is a witch that doesn’t have complete control of her magic. She runs a rescue sanctuary for unwanted or abused animals. Coop is the town sheriff and Summer’s neighbor. The humor in Summer Magic hooked me at page one. The blending of humor, action, suspense and sizzle held me hostage through the rest of the book. I loved this book from start to finish and can’t wait for the next book in the series. Summer Magic is book 1 of The Thorne Witches Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Summer Magic by T M Cromer
1st book in The Thorne Witches series. Contemporary paranormal romance.
The sisters are outed as witches in the small town of Leiper’s Fork. Sheriff Cooper is not happy and orders them gone! It doesn’t matter that he’s been denying his love for Summer since the age of 5. But there is a mystery behind the pet sanctuary that forces Summer and Coop to work together. His eyes are soon opened to the good the sisters do for the community.
Not dark spell casting, caldron stirring witches, more on the light side. Think Bewitched with a twitch of a nose and instant transporting from one location to another. I’m told books 2 – 4 are a bit darker.
Humorous points throughout. I laughed out loud at the scene with the talking squirrels threatening the baby elephant.
Twists at the end were surprisingly intriguing and made me check to make sure I had the second book on my bookshelf.
I alternated between a paperback copy and an audiobook. The narrator, Abby Craden, did a great job with voice variations and sneezes.
Great read
Loved this book! Realistic in the animal rescue synopsis. Love anything magical. Would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys paranormal.
Summer Magic is a thing of beauty!!!! I’m a paranormal junkie so this book caught me from the first page.
Summer Thorne has her own Sanctuary for unwanted animals, and she takes them all, even an elephant named Eddie. Eddie loves pools and the neighbors mares. And a chimpanzee named Morty who happens to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. But Summer is so much more than a Veterinarian she and her three sisters are witch’s.
Cooper Carlyle is the town’s Sheriff and Summers neighbor. These two people have had a love hate relationship for as long as they can remember. Coop has no idea what Summer is. But when he finds out all hell breaks loose.
Summer and Coop learn so much about their family’s. Summer adjust well, Copper not so much. But love can be a very powerful thing, especially if you are meant for each other.
Summer Magic, has an incredible storyline and the characters include Summer’s sister’s and Cooper’s brother, cousin and niece and many more. They all play a very essential part in this series.
Summer Magic is my new favorite book and the series is going to be amazing. T.M. Cromer really set the scene with this book and her characters. I totally lost myself in the book. Amazing!
This is the first in the Thorne Witch series, and I loved it. Lots of great witty dialogue that kept me laughing and a compelling magical plot line to keep me turning the page.
Omg, I am absolutely in love with Ms. Cromers new series. Summer and Coop are awesome. I’ve actually lol’d so much while reading this story. People probably think I’m nuts. And it has animals and paranormal. So excited! Definitely cannot wait to see what’s next!
Summer Magic is book one in The Thorne Witches..
I truly loved this book. It was funny and so many laugh out loud moments. One not so much.
It warmed my heart. Any time animals are in a story or kids I love them.
Summer Thorne is one funny and sassy witch. Her animals, and her sisters mean the world to her. She’s had a thing for Cooper Carlyle for a long time. But he wants nothing to do with her.
Cooper doesn’t know why Summer always gets under his skin. Well maybe it’s because her animals she keeps rescuing end up in his yard. One in particular Eddie the elephant. It’s pretty funny.
He feels truly guilty about the way he treated her in high school. When his cousin wants to date her
he’s not too happy about it.
He doesn’t know the real Summer until his brother tells him. See what happens. Buy the book!!!
Twists and turns that were awesome. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Highly recommend.
“If family lore was to be believed, once a Thorne found their one true love, their heart would never veer off the path of that love.”
Summer Thorne has been over the moon in love with one Cooper Carlyle until a prom night that went horribly wrong, causing Summer’s heart to be broken beyond repair. Cooper has had enough of being followed around by Summer, and when his idea of getting her away from him backfires, he realizes that maybe being cruel to be kind wasn’t his best idea. Years go by, but old hurts are still fresh for Summer, and when the now Sheriff Cooper Carlyle comes a knocking with threats of destroying her animal sanctuary, Summer is left with no choice but to join forces with her sisters to stop him. But dear reader, what the locals don’t realize is that the Thorne sisters are witches, and when you hurt one sister, you end up facing them all. “If anyone discovered the Thorne women were witches in bum-f**ked rural Tennessee, the bible belt of America, then gossip would spread, hell would break loose, and residents would line the driveway with pitchforks.”
Summer Magic is a little bit Charmed meets Practical Magic meets Dr. Doolittle. The banter between Summer and Coop is hilarious, and when they are pushed together to solve an age old family mystery, well let’s just say the sparks fly! Highly recommend this book and look forward to reading the rest of the series!
3.5 stars…It’s hard to have good feelings for a romance where you really don’t like one of the MCs. That’s the position I find myself in with this book. The supernatural part of the story and the family dynamics and the mystery? Enjoyed them all. The romance not so much.
The world created here is intriguing and I can see how it will grow through the next books. I enjoyed that part of the book a lot, especially the family dynamic with the sisters. I really liked Summer and my heart just broke for her. Which was another reason why I did not like Coop. He was a complete jerk…repeatedly. It actually got redundant and it made Summer look like a door mat. I also didn’t think it was helpful to the overall story arc. I’m glad for Summer that she got her HEA though frankly I’d have been just as happy if it had turned out Coop wasn’t actually her one true love.
But I will read the next book as I enjoyed the story arc and I like Autumn!
I did not think I would enjoy reading this book. Once I started reading I could not put it down. This book had me me in tears and I have laughed to the point I woke my other half up. I love how you have a good understanding of who each person feels and how you can relate to them.
I can’t wait to get started on the second book.
Fun, relaxing read
Just a bit too much, you know right from the beginning everything works out, a few surprises, but not really. good book for a wet day.
Loved the characters and easy humor.
Not bad, but another highly contrived story, where if only the characters would share that one critical piece of information, chaos would not ensue. Characters all react to events by going completely over the top without ever questioning what just happened. Are they all in 7th grade? Story is fun, but chaos and miscommunication gets tired.
Great story!
Fun read, but a little repetitive.
Catches interest right away. Surprising twists and turns I really didn’t see coming and yet it makes complete sense. Very fun. Can’t wait to read more
I only have one question: What exactly is a “fission of hope?”
