In the fourth novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series featuring everyone’s favorite wizard for hire, Harry Dresden is suckered into the tangled—and dangerous—affairs of Faerie…Ever since his girlfriend left town to deal with her newly acquired taste for blood, Harry Dresden has been down and out in Chicago. He can’t pay his rent. He’s alienating his friends. He can’t even recall the … He can’t even recall the last time he took a shower. The only professional wizard in the phone book has become a desperate man.
And just when it seems things can’t get any worse, in saunters the Winter Queen of Faerie. She has an offer Harry can’t refuse if he wants to free himself of the supernatural hold his faerie godmother has over him—and hopefully end his run of bad luck. All he has to do is find out who murdered the Summer Queen’s right-hand man, the Summer Knight, and clear the Winter Queen’s name.
It seems simple enough, but Harry knows better than to get caught in the middle of faerie politics. Until he finds out that the fate of the entire world rests on his solving this case. No pressure or anything…

The series is awesome
I enjoyed it and the intire series
Jim Butcher write a fun story about a wizard; Harry Dresden who gets himself into trouble because he goes places he shouldn’t, he talks to people he shouldn’t and he knows things that he shouldn’t! Or maybe he is just a trouble maker… Well worth the read!
Harry Dresden is a great series, read them all. You’ll be glad you did.
Dresden is the energizer bunny of wizard detectives. He takes a beating and just keeps going and going…
LOVE HARRY DRESDEN!!!
DISAPPOINTING!! He had a great novel brewing about a Magician in a semi-modern world but he lost me with a flagrant attack on Christianity with his ill-placed quip about Easter. I am done with this author.
This author combines the mundane and the supernatural into a vision that could almost be real, if i only knew where to look!
This is the novel where Jim Butcher’s imagination and storytelling really took off. Dresden is so beaten and desperate. The powers opposing him are beyond imagination—MAB!—and the stakes are life and death. Once again, his life and many of those who he cares for, are at stake. Love these Books!—Alice Bello is the author of Better off Dead, Min’s Vampire and the Ferro Mountain Shifters series.
The Dresden aeries overall is just a great series to read. It has so much of everything packed in and never disappoints.
Harry Dresden is a great character. The perfect balance of a good guy that’s not afraid to get a little dirt under his nails.
I enjoy all of Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files books. They all are very fun, have awesome twists, and a LOT of wry humor.
I love all of Jim Butcher’s Dresden books. This was no exception. I highly recommend the whole series!
Love the entire series!
Good
This was an enjoyable read. I have been aware of the author for some time but never got around to reading any of the books. Dresden is a fun character to follow and I will definitely invest in another book. Cheers
Finally read my first Harry Dresden book. I was a little sceptical since it is the fourth book in a series, but it certainly can be read as a stand-alone. It was gritty, at times funny, and kept me riveted with surprising twists and turns in the story line.
Another solid entry in the perhaps the best-thought-out urban fantasy world around. Butcher never disappoints in a Dresden book.
As always with this author, great characters and great story. A bit of an unexpected twist.
This book was fantastic! I absolutely loved this Dresden story! I’m not a fan of books with faerie, but this is really good. Dresden is put on trial for starting the war with the Red Court. He is ordered by Mab to find out who murdered the Summer Knight. He is having a real bad time with this because he is really messed up from Susan becoming a vampire and has been looking for a cure. Dresden’s first love is back, too. He gets mixed up in all kinds of faerie politics, with ogres and monsters trying to kill him at every turn. At one point, it was all very confusing to me, but by the end of the story, it all started to make sense. If you like magic, wizards and magical creatures, then this book is a must read!
