Poorly written and edited
Very inspirational book and very informative of the airline industry itself. I very much enjoyed reading this book and hats off to Sully.
Inspiring. A lifetime of preparation with a very successful outcome.
Sully is an interesting character. His self-effacing manner makes the book easy to read. Here, you learn about him and his family and the landing in Hudson River takes a back seat but is definitely covered in detail non the less. Highly recommend the book.
He’s the real deal, and so is this book.
Disappointing
This was a good book. Informative.
After a long career in the as Airline Aircraft Mechanic, I read this book with a technical interest, how could a flock of geese take down one of the most advanced aircraft in the world. One engine but not both, I have see a duck fly straight thru a spinning prop and hit the leading g edge of wing penetrate into the fuel tank. The flight crew lead by the author saved the lives of tens of thousands of people on the ground and the lives of the passengers. Everyone has read the news stories but you haven’t yet. Their is much about this man and his crew that was not reported an its the reason all those lives were saved. I recommend you read this book, you will be personally changed by the actions of this man.
Great insight into the man behind the miracle.
It was easy to read, they brought the technology down to an understandable level so that all could retain it. Sully, himself. Was a joy to read about, whether it be his family, his extended family, or his family in the skies.
Excellent and informative account of what happened during the aftermath of this amazing event.
I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Great story. The movie follows it pretty closely except for the Hollywood ending.
I loved this book. I enjoyed learning about how this man developed into such a kind, caring person. Everything in his life seemed to lead up to that day when he landed his plane on the Hudson, saving everyone aboard. It was insightful and well written in the author’s own words.
A great memoir by the the pilot who landed safely in the Hudson back in January 2009. A great read. Highly recommended.
I enjoyed parts of the book but other parts were really slow.
It will give you a new appreciation for flight crews. A true story that turns out well!
I devour pilot stories. Hadn’t seen the movie yet, wanted to read the book first. Sully is a human being worth reading about, a great man, fantastic, knowledgeable pilot. So glad I finally took the time to get to know this man.
Enjoyed this book very much. Have to give credit to all commercial pilot’s and flight crew for their dedication to their job!
The ‘realism’ of the impossible landing Sully made on the Hudson grips you almost spellbound. You CANNOT stop reading. You’re in the cockpit! The ‘haunting’ portion of this book is the actions of the FAA and NTSB in their treatment of Sully. The ‘tragic’ part of this book include the trials and heartbreak they caused Sully over an extended period of time.
As it turns out — His experience in that mid-air shutdown of all engines is now a TEXT-BOOK which all pilots are required learn from.
