Very interesting. I love how easy to read it was!
A true story of an American pilot who felt he was just doing his job but he saved so many lives by his actions and skill. People like Sully are the real Heroes of our society… not the sports stars that so many fans admire and put on a pedestal.
What a role model Mr. Sullenberger is! We need more of his type in this world.
This is an honest biography of the pilot who safely landed a commercial airliner on the Hudson River 10 years ago. That was quite a while back. I’m not a fan of most auto biographies, but I do May the occasional exception. This is one worth making an exception, if you are curious as to this man’s background. He has lead a solid and amazing life including the Air Force Academy. That alone speaks volumes.
Great book that everyone should read.
As a complete flight geek (airplane or space – take your pick) I grabbed a copy of this book. I have been fascinated with Sully ever since that unbelievable successful emergency landing on the Hudson. It seemed clear to me that his quick thinking and skill that day had little to do with luck, and a lot to do with incredible skill and instincts.
I immensely enjoyed this memoir. As a writer, I found a fantastic character in this book who also happens to be a real, living human being. Sully’s inward focus, his professionalism, his extreme attention to detail and rigor, his easing emotional reticence – it’s riveting stuff.
I loved how all of the pieces of Sully’s character and life coalesce with that fateful flock of birds and lead to an act of heroism (although he would never see it that way) and a story that proves yet again, life is often far better than fiction.
When I bought this book I was thinking of Miracle On The Hudson. I still would like to read that, but this turned out to be very worthwhile reading, too. Although it focuses on the emergency landing with NO fatalities, it really is Sullenberger’s story of the things that happened throughout his life that prepared him to deal with that dramatic situation as well as he did. Although not a great writer, it is a very readable account; and it kept me interested and was never work to read. I am glad I made the mistake of buying it.
Nice to read about a real-world hero
BLAH – too boring to read!
A great story about a great human being!
This book shared so much of the trials Sully suffered as saw him as our hero!
Wonderfully written.
A great read – rich with detail.
I good read. A lot of stuff that went on in the background most of the public knew nothing about.
