**I received a copy of Sullivan’s Promise from Random House-Ballantine and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions expressed below are not solicited in any way.**
Sullivan’s Promise by Joan Johnson encompasses several of the authors series of books and this is Ryan Sullivan and Victoria Grayhawk’s story. I have not read any of the previous books so I am at a bit of a disadvantage not knowing the background of the blended families. For me there were several distracting moments but the book is very good and very good.
Ryan Sullivan had a one night stand with Vic Grayhawk that gave both of them a surprise with little Cody. With Victoria head to college and not wanting to raise a child Ryan manned up to become the dad he’s always wanted to be. When Victoria completes her studies her once a month visitations with her son aren’t enough. When an accident happens with Mike Ryan’s brother he’s faced with needing her assistance to care for Cody. Is there a possibly of both Ryan and Victoria discovering that they can fall in love and become a couple?
Victoria Grayhawk works tirelessly protecting the bears and wolves in the surrounding area. Even though she loves her time with her son she wants more. But when Ryan’s brother is attacked and wounded by a Grizzly he asks her to help with taking care of Cody and the house while his mother stays with Mike. She starts to wonder if Ryan could be the person she’s always loved is there a possibility of a forever after?
There are several stories being wrapped up with all of the families in the series but not having read those stories I don’t want to ruin the story lines by being wrong.
Love the bool.
Great book
ARC for honest review with no compensation 4.5 stars, received from NetGalley
Sullivans Promise is booked 12 in the Bitter Creek series by Joan Johnson.
A one night stand results in a pregnancy for Ryan Sullivan and Victoria Grayhawk so she hunts Ryan down to get him to sign adoption papers and he replies absolutely not, he takes the child to raise. Some months later she realizes this was a mistake to give up her child but Ryan wants no part of her and is inflexible… there are no second chances when trust is lost. When Ryan’s brother is attacked by a grizzly and he needs help on the ranch he turns to Victoria for that help.
Can these two find a way to coexist and maybe find that opening your heart to second chances is what life and love are all about…
I’ve read several of her books and they are all very well done. It’s hard to put them down
Even though this is the 12th book in the Bitter Creek series, it is the first I have read and had no issues reading it as a standalone. I liked the complex cast of characters who showed real passion and emotions, lots of family drama and an engaging story with great subplots that kept me on my toes. I just couldn’t put the book down and look forward to reading more by this gifted author. It is a must-read for anyone who enjoys well-crafted western contemporary romance
I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my honest review. I also purchased a copy for my keeper library.
Rye Sullivan is raising his five year old son, Cody, with the help of his family and with no help from the boy’s mother, Vick, who gave full legal custody to Rye. When Rye’s brother, Mike, is attacked by a bear and fighting for his life in the hospital, Rye’s mother does not want to leave Mike, so Rye’s go-to babysitter is no longer able to be there for Cody. As a last resort, he agrees to let Vick move into his home to take care of Cody. Cody is thrilled to have his mother with him. Rye is fighting the strong feelings he still has for Vick.
Ms. Johnston’s characters work their way into your heart. The story line is well-developed. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. I definitely recommend Sullivan’s Promise to anyone who enjoys a well-written contemporary romance.
I received an Advance Reader’s Copy of Sullivan’s Promise in exchange for my honest review. I can honestly say that I loved this book!
Awesome contemporary western style romance. The blurb gives readers a gist of what the book is about but it’s so much more. Vick and Rye have a young son that brings them both joy and heartache. The characters have major issues and conflicts to try to resolve. Both the characters and storyline are were so well developed. There is a strong theme of family conflicts and strife throughout this book. I received a complementary copy of this book via Net Galley and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Johnston.
I have not read all of the books in this series and maybe I wouldn’t have been so confused if I had(?). I’m just not sure. The story with what I thought was the two main characters was going along nicely and I was really enjoying it. The next day I started a new chapter and actually wondered if I had somehow opened up another book. I’m still not positive that I have all the connections down. I would need to go back and reread some to get it all 100%.
That said, the book was good. I was just a little confused some of the time. I loved that the two main characters were coming back together and were willing to work on the relationship after a long time of there being nothing but hostility and regret between them. I just wished it hadn’t been so confusing!
I received a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
This one evidently had a lot going on in the background, which comes to the foreground, and since I had not read any books prior to this one, I got a bit lost for a while. But easily enough caught up with the mains in this one being Vick(Lexie) and Ryan.
I kind of felt Murphy’s Law applied to all the characters in here, but Ryan was awesome, even if he was stubborn, he had Cody’s best interests at heart. Vick needed work as I didn’t get the warm fuzzies for her, but she did redeem herself somewhat and that was some tense reading (no spoilers–but whew).
I think you would be better to start earlier in the series, even tho this is a stand alone with it’s own HEA. I did enjoy the read because it was interesting, twisty, and had more drama that just kept me reading.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily giving my own view and opinions.
I have only read a couple of the books in this series, and though this one is considered a stand alone, I felt at times I was at a disadvantage.
That said, once I decided not to let the secondary characters interfere with my reading, I was able to enjoy the book.
The story centers around Victoria Greyhawk, who gave up custody of her child to the father, her one night hook up and Ryan Sullivan, the cowboy whose life the son he loves. When Victoria returns wanting her child back, Ryan is adamant that that will not happen.
The attraction is there, but it isn’t until an unfortunate incident that Ryan takes a different stand.
This is a story about hope, trust and second chances.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I truly enjoyed reading this story!
It’s an emotional, sexy & heartfelt story,
with a little added mystery.
Great characters, romance & intrigue,
make it the perfect read.
I loved how the book’s storyline had
woven stories about the Sullivan, Grayhawk,
& Flynn families, throughout the book!
Sullivan’s Promise grabs your interest
from the very first pages to the last.
A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
I have read almost all of Ms. Johnston’s Bitter Creek books and this one had to be one of my favorites. Although I am sad to see the end of the King’s Brats, I hope that they might reappear later. I read this book in one day, because once I started I didn’t want to stop. This book made me cry, laugh, drop my jaw in shock, cringe, cheer and I loved every minute of it. This was mainly the story of Rye and Vic(Lexie) and their son, Cody, but the other King’s Brats and those Flynn Boys showed up, too. This book contained struggles, HEAs, and a bombshell or two. I highly recommend this book and all the other Bitter Creek books. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my freely given review.
Sullivan’s Promise is an outstanding western romance by Joan Johnston. Ms. Johnston has provided readers with a book that is well-written and populated it with a stellar cast of characters. Vick gave up her baby to his father. Six months later she was at Sullivan’s door, admitting her mistake and wanting to see her son. Vick and Sullivan’s story is packed with drama, bits of humor, action and spice. Sullivan’s Promise hooked me from page one and kept me glued to my e-reader way past bedtime. I enjoyed every page. This story does have little glimpses of what’s going on in other family members lives that may confuse new to this series readers, but for those that have been reading the series, it’s a great visit with past characters. Sullivan’s Promise is book 12 of the Bitter Creek Series, but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I just hope the next book is Mike’s story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
