Loved it! Excellent narration!!! I’ve already selected my next book narrated by Sara Morsey, loved her reading, she was the perfect selection for Ashley Fontainne’s thrilling story, horrified & lol’ing at the same time WOW!
Ashley Fontainne does it again! This book was such a rollercoaster and had so many twists and turns that you will get whiplash reading it 😉
Renee’s life has been hell! At 13 her father left, never to be heard from again, her mother proceeded to become a drunk, Renee eventually married and divorced a man who made her life miserable, and who ended up in jail for murdering his second wife, she also lost a baby, which her husband blamed her for. She was penniless and had to move in with her mother in law! At her lowest, she takes some of her mother in laws pills with the intention of going to “Suicide” Lake. A once beautiful spot, now marred with waste dumping and being the spot where people come to end it all. Once there, she is just about to swallow her pills and enter the lake when she stumbles across a body. Unbeknownst to her, this will change her life forever!
Plot wise, this was such a suspenseful and gripping read that I listened to it in a day. This author never fails to grab your attention right from the start and doesn’t let go till the very end! With plenty of twists, turns, and even a little romance, this is a must read for all!
For such a shortish book, the characters all go through so much but they also grow more for it. They are all well written and executed and there wasn’t one that I didn’t like.
In all, a brilliant and thrilling read and one I can’t recommend enough. This author never fails to deliver with her books and I urge people to try them.
This isn’t my first listen by Sara Morsey and won’t be my last. She has such a comfortable voice that she immediately puts you at ease and in the mood for a good book. Her tones are varied and her accents were amazing. She really brought this book to life!
I have read/listened to several books written by Ashley Fontainne and she has fast become one of my favorite authors. If I was going to compare her to any of the more widely known authors, I think it would be Sandra Brown. Her way of weaving a story keeps the reader on the edge of their seat wondering what was next. There were several times that I thought the story was coming to an end, but then it took a whole new turn! Exciting and intriguing with each twist. I listened while driving, while cleaning, while putting on my makeup! I didn’t want to put it down! The narration was perfect. I had never listened to this narrator, but, rest assured that I will be looking for more from Sara Morsey. Her voice fit perfect for how I would picture Renee Thornton would sound. Her raspy voice is easy on the ears and her ability to change characters and allow the listener to differentiate one from the other is talent in and of itself.
All in all, this is a very good read and listen! I would recommend this to everyone (and have!)
